Military - Video Entry

Photobucket

I love watching the Edinburgh Military Tattoo every year.  I suppose it is my Scots blood.  I love military music and the skirl of the pipes.  Also the Royal Marine Band. I come from a long line of military men and one of my ancestors was a Bandmaster.

One of the highlights of this year's  show was the King's Guard from Norway.  They gave the most remarkable drill display. These young men are doing their one year National Service.

And if you have the time, here is another clip which you might enjoy.  This second clip is worth viewing for the drumming and for the two soloists alone.

Love the video's.  Must have been awesome to see them perform in person!!  I have a huge fondness for the bagpipes.  I was so happy when my son started playing them.

I often feel I must have some of that Scots blood in me too.  My family tree has such a mixture that if I do, it is only some tiny little part, but I love the music too.

I love the sound of bagpipes too! I always like in the old movies, {the only ones I like any more! lol} and you hear the faint sound of the men marching, playing
the bagpipes along the way-telling everyone THE SCOTTS AR COMMING! Love that!
In Gunga Din when Cary Grant heard the pipes, he knew he'd be saved! And in Elizebeth 1rst with Kathriene Hepburn, shes in love with the Scott, and right before
they chopped her head off, she imagined her heard the bagpipes from Heaven!
Thank you for sharing the video's and posting a wonderful picture of Autum!

Thanks for emailing me and letting me know you visited my journal, as I do not get any alerts that people post comments in my journal.  I have set and reset those dang alerts!  Soooooooooooooo aggravating.  I just have to skim back through and see if anyone has posted comments.  ::big sigh::  I am sooooooooo excited Autumn is just around the corner!~

Blessings!~

How wonderful to see this, I cannot imagine the time these young men put in to these drills.  They are so precise, awesome.  I liked when they took the camera far away and you saw the white gloves or stripes moving...very neat.  Thank you for putting these up, I enjoyed them.

I went to see this live several years ago, an amazing sight - the rain even managed to stay away long enough for the tatoo
