Old Photo

I thought I would share this with you today before I continue writing.  It shows three generations of the family I have been writing about, Nan and Grand-dad, Grand-dad's parents and my Mother and Bill. Bill and Mum are the two children in the front row on the extreme right. The bride and groom are my Great-Uncle James (Grand-dad's brother) and his beloved, Ethel.

I find this photo charming and love the wonderful hats.  I am sorry the quality is not good but I only have a photo-copy and not the original. I had lots of trouble re-sizing it and trying to keep the proportions.  Oh, the picture was taken in 1914.

Great photo! you did a grand job.  I do like to see old family piccies. I have a daguerratype (I hope I spelled that right!)  It was taken around 1880, of my patrenal grandfather and his parents and sister.  He was about 3yrs old at the time.  Its a shame it cant be scanned so I could publish it but its not in very good condition now.  Your photo is really great though, keep them coming !   Sandra

You did well with that....gold star sent.  Those hats are the first thing that hit you ain't they.  Have had a virtual tour of life in the past, it's been great.

Third line down on the left, inbetween two ladies with hats, one white and one black with a large feather.............he looks just like Edward, the one that abdicated.  They really knew how to do flowers in those days.  Just lovely.  xxR.

It is a fabulous picture, Jeanette.  Actually, the graininess looks appropriate for it's age.  Old family photos like this are what keep everyone alive to the younger generations.  Saddly, I have very few pictures of earlier members of my family.  I feel like my daughter is getting cheated out of her legacy.  Funny, thing, too, as we get older, these photo's become more important to us.  Take care.

WOW what  a neat photo. I back in Feb and March posted pics of my family all the way back to my great great great granny. I posted pics from both sides. Kind of neat to look back> I started getting pics copied from family members and collecting stories from them while they are alive. Lori
