Earlier in the year they warned of us a heatwave with very high temperatures which we would experience in July and August. Well, it never came apart from a couple of very warm days. Now it is looking as though summer is over and done. Where did it disappear to so fast?
Mike took this shot of the sky from our front door last night, it does not really do justice to it, the colour was something to see
The old saying goes "Red sky at night, Shepherd's delight". Well, it has not held true. No bright sunny day for us in fact it is absolutely pouring with rain and the sky is solid grey but it is very muggy and airless. I had hoped to spend some time in the garden enjoying the fruits of our labour earlier on but the outlook for the week is not good.
Spent a busy day yesterday giving the bathroom a really good cleaning including washing the floor and then washed down all the kitchen cupboards. Found a bit of painting for him indoors to do (he was not impressed).
Those of you who follow this journal regularly will know that I managed after many years to trace a line of my family and made contact with a cousin. Well, things got a bit difficult there because he took the opinion that his family was absolutely nothing to do with mine (although we share the same Grandparents) and I got the impression that he thought I was just being nosey. So, I got a few snotty e-mails to that effect. He then requested a copy of the family tree which I sent him only to have him pull it all apart and telling me which paragraphs I should delete etc. etc. I told him that if he did not like it, he should send it back and he did. Happy to report that I was not to be deterred and although we have agreed to differ on various issues, he has now supplied information and I have provided him with a photograph of his mother when she was a little girl that he had never seen. So, all has ended well there.
So all that remains is for me to spell check it, add photographs and then it is complete. I shall not do that, however, until after the new arrival who naturally has to be added.
Hope you all have a good week. I have a busy day tomorrow looking after Nathan so will probably not post again until Wednesday. Take care all.

Some people are never happy and feel better by Lording it over others! Linda
Your cousin doesn't sound like too nice a person!! We have the same weather as you down in Brighton if that's any consolation!! We have thick mist and drizzle, very un-summerlike. I have heard that August is supposed to be the second wettest month in the year, we just don't expect it do we? Enjoy Nathan tomorrow!
Love Jeannette.
Hello Jeannette,
Love the photo Mike took of the sky. The colour is so beautiful. I know you are looking forward to being a Grandmother, for the second time. Give Nathan an extra hug, from me. Hope you enjoy your week. ttfn :) ~Deborah
Sounds as if you cousin is a very contrary person. Are you sure you want to be related to him?? You are doing a lot of work for everyone and they should appreciate it. Beautiful sunset and graphic also. Give that smiling Nathan a big hug from all of us. Helen
Hi Jeannette, reading this entry via work p.c.!!! Strange how some people get over family tree's, my Father had a similar experience many, many years ago but they thought he was after their money!!!!!! I also cleaned down all my kitchen cupboards yesterday....but it was so very hot here so it was hard work, strange how two places not that far apart have totally different weather,.....mind you it's chucking it down here today as well, you will hear all about that in my journal! Hope ducks okay and not washed away!!!!!
We've got cloudy skies and a repreive from the heat today! After 90 degrees most of the summer it is down in the low 70's today . That's Farenheit which is different from you...
But we did have the heat wave you mentioned. Very unusually hot for Northern Ohio in the USA. Enjoy your day tomorrow ! 'On Ya' - ma
Love the photo of the red sky...I bet it was so pretty in person...sorry about the heat...it is like that here too, very bad.
As for your cousin...you did good. You stuck to your guns and said it like it was...sending him the photo of him and his Mom was so sweet of you. You did good, he should see this and wake up!

Hi Jeannette,Lovely picture of the glorios sunset, good of Mike to capture it for us,we have some wonderful skies here in east anglia,we say....."red sky at night shepherds huts on fire".....................! Jan x x
Lovely picture. If only it brings lovely weather with it...
What a fantastic picture I would have loved to see the colour with my own eyes.
Gem xx
Pleased you cousin eventually gave you the details you were after, I can just imagine how frustrating it would have been.
Absolutely fantastic photo of the sky! It is still hot here, and that is with it cooling several degrees. Tomorrow is supposed to be the first "nice" day and then rising temps. Surely summer will return for you in due time, but then I do not how the weather normally runs there. If you can't please everyone you may as well please yourself, as the saying goes. You would think all of your effort would be appreciated on your ancestory. History speaks volumns. Take care, and have a good week, mark
I love the picture of the red sky.Its also been really hot around where I live.
That red sky is absolutely lovely - I have delved into my family tree - it is an absolute facinating subject - amazing how far back you can get - Did go into churchyards and gravestones to get some help....Ally
I'm glad that you worked things out with your cousin. Good for you for not being deterred. I'm so impressed with your family tree research.
That red sky is GORGEOUS!
woops, I mean a new journaler that you recommended. I was trying to speed read.
Derek
Even though there was no more rain today, there is definitely a chill in the air & I cannot imagine that we'll get much more of a summer now. Brief, wasn't it??

Dear Jeannette,
Hello, my name is Amy... I just started this whole journal thing today. I was reading you inspirational postings, and I loved this one about stepping foward or backwards. You are from England? I am from Boston MA, in the US. It's crazy how far away peope can be yet still connect and you completely changed my attitude towards this day. I thank you for your openess and god bless you. I also visited Gem... however so you spell it, that journal because if it was good to you it must be... I didn't comment on hers and I'm usually not one to speak out but thank you for your sharings.
