White Stuff

Photobucket

Easter Sunday and down came the snow.  Just sleet at first but after a while it got quite heavy and settled.

You would never know it now because it stopped after two hours and has already melted away as if it had never been. I know that Mike is disappointed as he wanted to take his camera out and get some shots of trees and bushes covered with it but we had the family calling over so that was not possible.

The boys were so excited.  They were both too small to enjoy snow last time it fell here.  Nathan ran up the path shouting "snow Nana, snow."

At least it gave us a little photo opportunity for me to share with you today:-

It was nice being able to get these shots which we will treasure.  Then it was time to come inside and exchange Easter eggs.  Two little boys were very pleased with theirs:-

Becky and Dean gave us another bird feeder.  This one has a basket at the bottom for planting flowers and a solar light at the top which glows at night.  We can only hope it attracts birds back to the garden.  We had so many of them coming to all our feeders but the last few weeks they have all disappeared.  Only one solitary Wood Pigeon seems to come now.  With this cold snap and all the food outside they should be flocking but all our Sparrows, Greenfinches, Bluetits, Collared Doves - all gone without trace.

When the shops are open again, Mike is going to buy some fat balls, that usually attracts them.  Could make some of our own but they seem to like the circular shape and we have nothing suitable.

It is all very quiet now that the family have gone - they are off to visit the other Grandparents this afternoon - more chocolate eggs for them!

At least I was so happy for them that they got to see the snow, just a pity it did not last just for a while longer.

And on the third day, He rose again. Praise be to His holy name.  Jesus lives.

Hope that you are all enjoying your Easter.

Love,

Photobucket

Happy Easter to you and yours. Your grandson's faces reflect such joy at the snow fall...took me back to when my kids were young, they loved the snow too. Lovely pictures...don't worry the birds will come back, they react to crazy weather by hiding a bit....love, Sandi

A very 'Happy Easter' to you Jeannette.    It is nice to see you and the grandchildren with your husband and daughter outdoors on a beautiful crisp snowing Easter.    Your neighborhood looks like an old fashioned quiet friendly place to live.    It snowed just a tiny bit here today and is cold.    I have been getting Salty's doghouse finished before my surgery.    I needed enough good weather and am glad that it was finally accomplished so now I can concentrate on inside my cabin organizing things.    I am sending you a copy and paste letter about it.    The nurse told me last week that if I do not have the fusion my surgery will be the kind that involves faster recovery and results that are proven to be positive.    With many back surgery's for disc's people complain afterwards about scar tissue.    Mine is to remove the bone pressing on the spinal cord.    He said he can't guarentee it will remove all my back pain but I know how much this problem effects me and expect great results.     I hope you have been recovering well and you look wonderful in the photos.    mark

Oh, the boys looked like they were having so much fun!  We had three or four inches of heavy snow yesterday.  It is so funny driving and walking around today on Easter seeing all the big snowmen up, LOL.  Each one is so unique and cool.  Love you,

love the pictures:) as for your birds is there a hawk or another big bird of prey in the area? we had a guy who owned a hawk and would drive to our neighborhood and let him go and eat our baby birds( that is what i call the little birds) anyway our neighbor confronted him about it and he ramed her car with his. about 1 week later i saw him pull up and let the bird go. So i contacted the newspaper and they came and did a story on it. Come to find out he lived in the next town and all the baby birds had left geez wonder why. The cops came and asked him to find another place. We heard less than 1 month later his bird died. we think its was poisined. He tried to blame us but it wasn't us. hope the birds come back for you

What lovely pics Jeannette, at least you managed to capture some of the snow.  I was surprised to wake up Sunday morning to a white over, and  whipped my camera out smartish, which was just as well, the snow had gone by the afternoon.
Hope all is well with you and yours.

Great pictures Jeannette. It was snowing here this morning for about an hour, very wet though so didn't settle.

My grandson who is two and a half was quite suprised that it was snowing at the front of the house, then at the back on the flat roof but is was also snowing outide the lounge window too, guess he couldn't get his head around the fact it was snowing all around.

I know what you mean about the birds we used to see blue tits, robins, sparrows, pigeons, crows, magpies and starlings, now all we get are the pigeons, starlings and occasional crow even though my daughter said the other week she saw a woodpecker out in the garden. Seems like the little ones are vanishing i could not tell you the last time i saw a sparrow.

Take care
hugs Jayne

Hi Jeannette,

Well as much as I have been complaining that our snow is STILL here there is nothing more beautiful than a tree with hoar frost on it...also you and Mike and the kids were having so much fun it did not make it look so depressing.

I guess just coming back from where it was 30 C and all green I just wish our Alberta had a longer growing season but oh well.

Hubby is from Vancouver, BC so at this time of year he goes through a real mournng process missing his ocean, flowers in bloom and green grass.

Love and hugs to you and Mike,

Lori

How lovely to see you all having fun in the snow Jeannette, Nathan is really having fun with his Grandad while Daniel, bless him, looks so cute all wrapped up warm. Your bird feeder sounds really nice, I hope we see a photo of it.  I`ve been so lucky with the birds this year, I`ve had so many goldfinches that I can`t count them all when the flock settles in the tree, along with greenfinches, chaffinches and now I`ve even got a couple of wrens.  When I used mixed seed they didn`t seem at all interested so I changed to niger seed and sunflower hearts and I`ve never looked back.

Love Sandra xxxx

I have not seen pictures of the grandsons for a while. It is good to see them looking happy and fit.  I hope the little one with all the trouble is perfectly all right now.  You are such a devoted grandma.  I do like all the devoted grandmas for pretty soon you find yourself becoming very fond of the little ones who bring such joy and life!  Gerry
