Over two inches of rainfall in the last couple of days. We had two lakes at the bottom of our garden and the pond overflowed at the top of it.
The poor flowers have been battered by the rain and the strong winds and are looking so sad, particularly the Geraniums which like warm and dry conditions.
I do not sleep all that well these days but last night I was in a very deep sleep when I was rudely awakened by Jesse jumping on top of me. I thought he had gone mad but realised he was shaking. The next minute the lightning filled the room. The thunder was tremendous and each clap rumbled on and on. Poor Jesse has always been a dog terrified of storms, I am afraid he learned that from out late lamented Pip. So I only slept fitfully after that. The storm lasted quite some time and the barometer is still right over in the storm position. It is very overcast and now a high wind has got up again. After the blistering start to May it is hard to believe that we are almost into June.
I had a letter from the hospital this morning about my bone density scan. They have arranged it for the same day as they said but have allowed very little time. The scan is at 2.15 p.m. and takes fifteen minutes, if they are running to time it should be o.k. but the letter says sometimes a wait is involved. Remember I have to go to the big main hospital for this scan. Quite some way from the breast unit where I have to be for my mammogram at 2.50p.m. My days of sprinting are long over!
Of course I will remind them I have to be over at the breast unit and even show them the letter so hopefully I will get straight in. Going to be hectic though and I am going to be very uptight because all my other appointments have been in the morning. Now I have to wait until the afternoon and you know how difficult it is for me even going out and how I fear hospitals. Will have to take extra tranquilisers on that day.
At least I console myself that it will all be over with in one hit on one day - provided I get the all clear. I know you will all be rooting for me. I am already dreading it.
Missing the boys this week. We normally have Daniel on Monday whilst Nathan goes swimming but it was Bank holiday. Today we would have normally seen Becky and Daniel. They always have lunch with us after Daniel has been swimming but it is half-term and there is no swimming but no doubt, we will see them in the next couple of days.
Thankfully my bruises are much better and hardly hurting at all now. To be honest, looking back I am amazed I kept my appointment straight after the tumble I took, I must be mentally stronger than I realise. Even the family thought it would be impossible for me to go. However, I do not want a repeat performance on the 9th to get me through the bone density scan and the mammogram thank you very much.
Not much else to write about at this time but I do have some photos to share with you. The first few were taken by Mike, the last two by myself.
Let us start with a tranquil scene a couple of miles from us:-
Next is a shot of our village taken from a nearby hill
Another peaceful shot showing the same church that features in the first photo
Next are a couple of bird photos
Lastly mine, snapped with a different camera through glass. The first one I took just because I thought the flowers looked so pretty together
The bird feeders look askew in the next picture. They are, we have been having such strong winds and the ground is so soft with all the rain that they keep tipping to an angle.
Well that is about all the news I have. I am enjoying watching "Britain's Got Talent" and also "Springwatch" as I love all nature programmes. The two clash so I usually tape one and watch it later.
I start my new tablets tonight so fingers crossed for less side effects and that I will be able to manage on them and obtain benefit.
Take care my dear friends and readers. I hope life is treating you well.

Glad your bruises are healing and your feeling better, good news about your appointments I know not Ideal but at least they are on the same day and that saves separate trips. We have certainly been battered by the rain I think last night was worse, we still have a lot of people without power, this has been ongoing for the last 4 days. Loved the pictures especially of the ducks.
Take care
Yasmin

All your pictures are beautiful Jeannette. I pray that all goes well on those two tests and I hope you have time to get from one to the other on time. Hugs, Helen
Hope the weather clears and some of those flowers can dry out. We need rain here. Loved the photos ....you always have pretty flowers growing...loved the pond photo. Hope all goes well with your test...many hugs and love,
Joyce
Loved your photos and I hope all is well with your tests. Take care. Eileen x
Yes, we all seem to be stronger than we think at times.
Photos are wonderful!

You are always in my thoughts and prayers. This May has been more like April for us with lots of showers and cool temps. June usually brings us more warm days and few showers. Those children of ours and their children certainly do brighten our days. I always look forward to seeing mine too !

I enjoy seeing the view of your pond and feeder's in your back yard. This May has been cool and rainy here in S. Illinois. We are having record rainfall. South/East of us has been drought for years so I hope some of the rain is getting there. I have to complain some about my health with the weather causing me problems associated with pain. Following my back surgery which was a success, I am finding out how much other area's contributed to my pain. Today the weather is allowing me to sit at my computer and I see the sun shining beautifully. I hope the tablet's agree with you and do their intended purpose. Salty is afraid of the thunder and lightning also. My house was hit by lightning over a year ago and I still have to fix where it hit. I watched it explode out my upper window ten feet away. Salty was upset and wanted up on my bed with me but is not allowed. However, he has learned that when left alone in the cabin, he climbs up, so I have to leave my old blanket covering the bed. I enjoyed the photo's, and I always study how to paint water from all the photo's I can find. I have so much work to do completing my home addition before I can enjoy thinking about painting. So much has been done the last several years which makes the completion in sight. mark
I just love your gardens! Bone scans are very fast. You don't even need to get changed for them. I've had one and my mom gets one every year. It's all over in 10 minutes. You just lay on this machine and it scans up and down your back.
Missie
Your pictures are lovely. You live in such a beautiful place! I'm glad you are doing ok...and I know you will be so relieved when your tests are done. Take care Jeannette. Just get through one day at a time.
Hugs..Pam
The birds at your feeders will all develop longer legs on one side to accommodate the "lean" like the legendary hillside sheep.
Good luck on your tests. Sounds like you may have to wear roller skates to zip from one to the other... or maybe not.
;^) Jan the Gryphon
Jeannette I do hope they hurry you through when you go for your tests ~ although I am pretty sure they will ~ and it will be good to get them both over on the same day ~ you know we will all be rooting for you ~ we had that storm last night and poor Barney was terrified ~ the lightening struck a cable in this area and a lot of homes in Norfolk were without electricity ~ glad your bruises are much better ~ Loved all the photographs ~ Ally x
Sorry about the rain...I'm sure it's coming here. It's been in the middle to high 60's here for several days now but at the same time very humid & overcast. I'd be willing to bet my aching bones that rain is in the near future. We also seem to be having more moderate to severe wind even on the non-rainy days. I think the weather is just very strange all over. It seems like the hospital is sort of crowding your appointments very close together. Hopefully they will both fall into place as scheduled. Your "Garden of Eden" look lovely! Linda in Washington
Isn`t the weather awful Jeannette? My garden took a real battering too and I`ve had to re-tie the clematis though some of it was completely broken off. What bedding I had planted seems to be ok but one of my roses was almost flattened to I`ve had to support that too. Poor Jesse, he must have been terrified, by all accounts the storm was really bad though I slept right through it, Jim told me about it this morning. I only get to see Roman about once a fortnight now and I do miss him, if only they hadn`t moved quite so far things would be different. He`s growing up so quickly and I feel I`m missing out now, oh well, it can`t be helped. I hope you manage both your appointments without having to rush anywhere, you really don`t need the stress. It`s a shame they didn`t book you appointments that were a bit further apart to give you more time. The photos are lovely and were obviously taken before the weather turned so nasty.
Love Sandra xxxx
Beautiful pics!
Hoping all the tests come back good, saying a prayer for that.
Hugs,
Sugar
Your hubby is so talented with the camera, love the lake shot. I think your little garden is so beautiful, it looks like an expert planned it...your own little Garden of Eden. I used to work at Sunken Gardens in ST Pete, so I appreciate lovely gardens like yours. I think, somehow, we all find the strength within us when faced with major problems in our lives...I know you are stronger than you yourself believe your are dear. Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers...love, Sandi
So sorry to hear about your fall and the stress of all these medical appointments. For some reason I am getting no alerts, so have to keep going in and checking everyones journal. You will be in my thoughts and prayers and I loved the pictures. Joni
Good luck with your appointments Jeannette, everything crossed for you.
Lovely photos, you do seem to be surrounded by beautiful views, even in the garden. I am enjoying the sight of masses of clambering white clematis in my neighbours backyard at the moment. I have a pink one but it is right at the top of my garden where it can't be seen from my back door - so I enjoy my neighbour's instead. :-)
I was moaning the other day that everyting is so dry - now it's all drowned out!
take care
all the best

To be honest i have been rather cheesed off with Britains Got Talent...The shows featuring the auditions in front of the judges are such a con...I know that some of the bits featured were not from those auditions but the auditions to audition...Also they showed very little of the Glasgow auditions even though several acts did go through...By the time last sat was shown we had come to the conclusion that they were either not putting anyone through to the live shows from glasgow or only one or two...And indeed we were correct...I saw better dancing group acts at glasgow and some other more varied acts that IMO were much better than some who are on the live shows...I have to go through it all again for next series as Mikey wants to audition again <sigh> I do hope that you manage to get to both appointments on time from one of the hospital to another...All well and good arranging them both for the same day but they could have allowed plenty time...We've not had any rain until today unlike most of England...Shame really as the last monday in may is not a holiday in Scotland but we had glorious sunshine on monday Caff xxxxxx
Send your rain my way. It's 90ish degrees out here today. I don't plan on sticking my nose out the door til night.
Your village is so picturesque!!! I'm quite jealous of your garden.....all I have are a few plants out in the back.....
(I don't envy your mammogram appt. I got one last week and my boobs still hurt! I'm such a baby...)
~Amy
I remember I think when you got your first bird feeder. Look at them now. I love watching all the birds that come to the feeders. Hope the new pills work well for you. We are having rain every day here and some pretty bad weather around us. Going to be a cautious season.
Julie
I hope your weather gets better. Your pictures are great. I wonder if Britain has talent will get another Paul Potts this year? Linda
Hi Jeannette ,your photos are beautiful .Hope you got to see the boys sometime this week .You know I will pray and think about you on the 9th and truly hope it turns out well for you .Wish the sun would shine ,think it would make us all feel better ......love Jeanxx
Your photos are lovely, I love your pond...I saw one of your fish made an appearance for the camera too. Wishing you all the best with your appointments. Yes, keep thinking that it will be over in one trip.

My mum has a secret crush on Bill Oddie, I take the mick, well you have too.Got caught in the rain yesterday, it was a hot humid morning so we all went out in summer clothes and got stuck at my sisters, waiting for the rain to subside, i had to work that evening too.In the end we borrowed coats and blankets and ran for the bus stop looking like a pantomime!keep well, Beckie x
Flowers and gardens beautiful...I see you and Sandra both are needing some sunshine over there. Hope you get some. Hope you are doing well.

Jeannette -
I have been away for a while and I see that many things have changed for you during that time. I appreciate you being so diligent in adding your entries. I look forward to being back in touch. I love your positive thoughts and your beautiful pictures. How peaceful the water and village look. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Jeannette, What beautiful pictures!!! Hope your new tablets are better for you. All the best.
Ciao

Haven't been on the pooter for a couple of days, but noted there was an alert from you posted on 2/6/08 about Britain's Got Talent, but it won't come up. Did you delete it Jeannette?
I was going to say that I was quite disappointed with the result, find it hard to believe that most of the voters voted for George Sampson, I thought he was just OK. Katie & Gin, and Signature were my favourites.
I really enjoyed the week long hour of 'variety acts', and there are many repeats on the Freeview channels :-)
Hope all is well with you.
take care
Freda
I hope everything turns out okay for you. I loved the pictures. I was glued to BGT. I loved the winner wee George. Love Pam xx
Jeannette, your needs are always in my prayers. I pray everything goes smoothly for you and that these new tablets work for you with no side effects. I loved all the photos. Looks like a very tranquil village you live in. I love your garden. If I had a garden like that, I would never want to go inside! Take care!
Hugs and prayers!~
