Well, it had to happen. Now it is too hot! Certainly too hot for me, I cannot take it like I used to. All through May with the dreary skies, the rain and the cold, the sun was up there rising higher and higher in the sky and I told the family it would come in with a vengeance without us having the chance to get used to it.
I am so glad we got the gardening done when we did (although I still have plants on order) because after four days of being perfectly fine out there I am now covered in the most horrendous heat rash. It came out of nowhere. Went to bed on Wednesday night with no sign of it, woke up scratching on Thursday morning absolutely smothered. Out has come the Calamine lotion and I am now so thickly covered with that I look like an extra from Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The postman saw me this morning and I do not think the poor man will ever be the same again.
I can see the funny side of the Calamine but the itching is not funny and now I cannot even step into my garden for fear of making it worse. At least I can look at it from the lounge. If the plants arrive next week and it is still this hot then him indoors will have to do the necessary. Poor plants. Mike is not the gentlest of men when handling things and does not know a dandelion from a rose. I shall have to shout instructions from the back step. He will not be best pleased.
The boys were over this morning so I am sharing some of the latest pictures with you.
As you can see, they really love playing with their bricks and Nathan goes to great lengths to make his "buildings" as tall as they can be. Of course, he has not got the hang of creating a firm base so they always topple and that always makes him laugh.
Last night Mike and I had a date with "King Kong". I know that some people have panned this picture but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The main gripe people have is that it takes too long before you actually see Kong. For some reason today people want instant gratification, they want it and they want it now, they are not prepared to wait. Well, I like the suspense to build up and I was glad we got to know the characters first and just how they all came to be going to find Skull Island. The special effects are superb and certainly thrilling, lots more "creatures" than in the Fay Wray version. Yes, they did completely gloss over just how they transported Kong back to New York in a ship that was obviously too small and how they would have restrained him on the voyage or how they would have fed him. The ending of this film is so well know and perhaps it was a little drawn out but extremely well done and just as in the original, you end up feeling so sorry for the poor ape. We did not know how long the film was before we put it on and were amazed when it finished to find it ran for just under three hours but it passed so fast that it certainly did not seem that long. We do not care what other people think, we really and truly enjoyed it and Kong certainly looked real, not like the original version, although that was excellent for its time, Kong was obviously a model. This fellow is so life-like that after a while you forget that it is not real. Well, worth a viewing if you have not already seen it.
Now I am off to get a nice cup of tea and replenish my Calamine Lotion and no, dear readers, you will not be getting any photographs of me.
Have a great weekend everyone and COME ON ENGLAND!!! Good luck to our team, let us hope we have reason to really celebrate.

Hello Jeannette, I`m sorry to hear about your heat rash, it must be driving you mad with all that itching. Have you tried antihistamines or are you not allowed to take them? LOL at your poor postman! I won`t let Jim near a plant, he has no idea either so I can imagine how you feel about letting Mike take care of yours. I hope for your sake that your rash has cleared up by the time they arrive. Great pics of the boys, they are really engrossed in their building bricks. It`s really nice to see young children using their imaginations. Have a lovely day. :o)

I hope your rash goes away quickly and you can get back out in the garden to tend your plants. Very much enjoyed the pictures of the boys. It's amazing how quickly they grow. Daniel will be toddling around before you know it!

Have still to watch our copy of Narnia.....Angela slated it but then again she warned me off Kong so what does my daughter know, LOL!! Love the pics of the boys. Thanks again for your email, love Joan
I haven't seen KING KONG yet.
I am sorry to hear about your rash. Do you get them from heat every year or is this a rare thing? I have bad allergies and may get a rash but never from heat. Its stuffy here in Ohio. The grandsons pics are adorable!

Darling pictures! Such happy boys!
My hubby's been wanting to see King Kong, but it hasn't ever appealed to me so I've always talked him out of it. Maybe I'll relent this weekend and make him happy. :)
Hugs,
Gwynn
No picture of you sporting the Calamine? Darn! Those boys sure look happy! Jae
OH my the boys are getting sooooooo big, and so cute! I will be with my two next Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully they will get along, they tend to fight over me! rose~
I am so sorry that you have that bad rash Jeannette, I hope it gets better soon. Just wondered if you have ever used Benadryl (diphenhydranine anisthitimine) for allergies. I know it works great for bee stings when people are allergic to them.
The pictures are great. The boys look so sweet. Hugs, Helen
I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well. I hope that rash clears soon. The boys look so cute and so happy! I love the pictures!

Jeannette hope that heat rash soon disappears and the Calamine lotion eases the itching ~ how awful it must be for you not to be able to venture into the garden ~ Pictures of the boys are lovely they look so contented and happy ~ Glad you made your own decision on "King Kong" I have often seen a film that has been panned but I have throughly enjoyed it ~ never could understand why someone thought he could tell us what we would like to watch ~ (You sure you would not like to show us a picture of you in your Calamine lotion !!!!) hope you have a wonderful weekend ~ Ally
Sorry you can't handle the hot weather, I love it! I haven't seen King Kong yet. The boys look like they're having so much fun, bless them. How does Nathan sit like that with his legs splayed backwards?! If I did it I'd never be able to get up again!! Have a lovely weekend. Jeannette xx
As one who has suffered with heat rash, I send you my best wishes for a speedy recovery. It's so uncomfortable! I'd send a hug but it would probably hurt. LOL Your grandsons are so cute. I so enjoy seeing pictures of them! Take good care of yourself over the weekend. Love, Kathy
The boys are precious! Funny how they always want to build straight up. I like these candid shots. Do hope your itching subsides. - Bug and I had a nice pic nic. Saw a snake, so we moved from out under the sycamore trees, closer to the house under the pecan tree. There we watched a family of robins for a long time after we ate, while we lay back and relaxed. - Barbara
Those boys are so darn cute! I do hope you get some relief from the heat. Have a good weekend.
Missie
Hi Jeannette !!!!!!!! Its sizzling here in Atlanta as well. I would love some snow right about now. I would love to see your garden in person. I have been under the weather with a cold but I'm getting better. The boys are adorably cute I would like to meet them. I'm sure they will be heartbreakers when they grow up. I also saw the movie "King Kong" and my family and I enjoyed it when we saw it. It was sad at the end but we liked it. My youngest niece was afraid of it but we liked it. Take care and I will be back for another visit. Byyye for now.
Hi Jeannette, well it's gotten clear up to 62 degrees here in western Washington today. You'd be most comfortable !! I hate the higher temps too. 75 degrees is about the limit for me being comfortable. Hope it cools down and the icky old heat rash goes away. The boys are so cute !! Linda in WA
The boys are growing so fast - I can see a lot of difference since the last pictures it seems. How delightful that you get to see them so often. I have a new grand'babe ' that I haven't even seen yet. I hope your'itch' goes away soon. How uncomfortable for you. It was hot here week before last and now it's cooled back down. I like it that way. Take good care ! 'On Ya' - ma
No pics of your rash? Oh come on be a sport. LOL Just kidding and so sorry you have it. I hope it is only heat and not an allergic reaction! We've be sizzling in Texas also...above 100 degrees. Very uncomfortable.
Great photos. I love taking candids of my granddaughters.
LOVED King Kong also. Really draws you in. I agree with you also, about getting to know the characters first...it's like reading a book.
Hope you get over your rash soon. How about a soothing oatmeal bath? Take care and have a wonderful weekend. (Love the graphic also!)
Barb

I know, the heat is unbearable isn't it!! Must be awful to have heat rash too, you poor thing :o( I am seriously thinking about investing in a portable air conditioner, as J doesn't always like the doors and windows open because the sound of neighbours children playing outside bothers him. Great pictures of your boys m'dear, they certainly are growing aren't they!! I liked King Kong too :o)
