Swan Lake? - No this is a Swan river!

We had the most spectacular storm the night before last.  The sky was continually lit up with the lightning but we only had three ten minute bursts of rain.  It reminded me so much of the electrical storms I first saw in Spain when I was nineteen.  Jack has never experienced a storm since we have had him but he was totally unconcerned unlike Jesse who was a nervous wreck and we both thought of Pip and how bad he used to get.  Hopefully Jack will not mind fireworks because next month they will all start prior to Bonfire Night and continue for several weeks. How I wish they would ban the sale of them until a few days before and completely after that night is over.

We looked after Daniel this morning whilst Nathan went swimming.  Nathan did so well at nursery school yesterday that Becky was able to leave him for an hour. So, he now starts twice a week.

Daniel's eye appears to have improved so much we are hoping that surgery will not be necessary.  The specialist said it might but Becky can leave it until a week before his hospital date to make sure before she cancels.   Fingers crossed on this one.

I watched a very good documentary last night about the Aberfan disaster and how the villagers had to fight to get the coal tips removed and they even had to pay something towards the cost but these brave people took on the might of the government and won.  I remember watching the t.v. on the night of the disaster all those years ago and how heartbreaking it was.  Now the children that survived are middle-aged but their memories remain so strong.  You cannot imagine a whole generation of children practically wiped out from one village but that is what happened, 116 children and 28 adults perished that day.

That is about all my news really. So, I have another video I am going to post for you today.  This river is not far from us and very close to Becky.  She often takes the boys there to feed the swans.

I am sorry the film is somewhat dark.  It was a very humid day, it was misty and the sun was behind the clouds. It is jumpy in one part where Mike slipped whilst turning around. You will see that this is a tidal river and the tide was either going out or coming in.  Being midweek it was very quiet. At the weekends it is a different story with all the weekend sailors and the river gets very busy.  There are some lovely houses for sale overlooking the water.  Oh, if only the lottery would come up. I would love to look out of my window and watch the river in its many changing moods.  Anyway, sit back and relax for a few minutes, let the music wash over you and enjoy the beauty of the swans and ducks.

I hope that made you feel more relaxed.

The last shot of the swans reminds me so very much of the ballet. What graceful and elegant birds they are.

Wishing each and every one of you a wonderful weekend.

Angel hates storms too, or any loud noises!

I hat fire works, except in a paticular place at a designated time. They're banned in my little town, but people get them anyway & use them for a couple weeks round Holidays. :(
The swans & ducks are beautiful!

I've got my fingers crossed as I fold my hands in prayer for little Daniel. How beautiful the swans are !  It looks like they are used to having someone feed them.  I too love the water, it is so restful and peaceful.  I love the beach!  I'm always hoping to win the lottery too !  I would love to retire from working.  Thank you for the peaceful moment...I'm on lunch break at work and needed a few peaceful ones.  'On Ya' - ma

Lovely video Jeanette the swans look so graceful, but they can be quite nasty at times, there used to be some on the canal near where I live and I can remember being chased by some of them on a number of occasions LOL,

Glad that Daniels eyes are improving bless him, it must be a weight of all of your shoulders,

I watched the Aberfan disaster lastnight, my Father used to be a long distance lorry driver, and he used to transport earth movers, cranes and diggers, his lorry was the longest one in the country so he used to have a police escort through towns and villages, he was on his way home at the time of Aberfan, and was asked via police radio to take the earth movers to the disaster area, and to help out where possible, I can remember him sitting at the table crying whilst telling my Mum about it,
take care Lynne xx

That was a lovely video Jeannette,

I`m glad I got to see it.  I like swans myself, as you might have seen from my photos and living near the Thames I can see them often.  Please tell Mike he did a grand job.  I`ve taped the documentary on the Aberfan disaster and I hope to watch it tomorrow morning.  I remember too well seeing the news flash on TV.  Like everyone else I just sat there and cried for those poor children.  I`m really pleased that Nathan is settling in nursery, I think it`s so good for them to meet other children when they are very young.  I do hope Daniel`s eye has improved enough to avoid surgery, it sounds really positive from what you say.  I`d forgotten about the dreaded fireworks season, I wonder how long it will go on for this year?

Thanks Mike for taking the video of the river and swans! Very peaceful, just what I needed after talking to a guy on AOL Live help!! I'm happy Daniel may not need surgery, I hope he gets better without it! I remember going home to lunch one day and hearing about the Aberfan disaster on the lunchtime news, it was just so horrible to listen to. I can't imagine what the parents were feeling. Jeannette xx  !

Hi Jeannette!   What a relaxing video!  I really enjoyed that.  Thank you for sharing that with us.
Glad to hear about Nathan enjoying nursery school.  I think it's good for them to learn to interact with others when they are young.
Good news about Daniel!  Will keep him in my prayers!

Thanks that was wonderful....I don't think that I've ever seen that many swans in one place like that before...remember I'm a NYC girl at heart!  We had black swans at Sunken Gardens but only six of them...they were kind of nasty too, tried to bite people.....Sandi

Jeannette you and Mike make a wonderful team ~ you as producer and Mike as cameraman ~ a lovely video, and the music too! Thank you both :-) I really hope little Daniel doesn't have to have surgery, and I will pray that his eye heals by itself. We've had some dreadful storms too this week, I hope they've passed now. We didn't get as much rain as we needed either! And I agree with you totally about the fireworks ~ they are on sale for FAR too long! Have a lovely, happy, peaceful weekend, both of you :-)
much love, hugs Debbie ~xxxxxxxx~

Wow, storms...we have had rain lately, but no electrical storms...like yours.  I remember you talking about Pip back when you had these kind of storms before...now Jack is fairing much better...that's good.   I'm praying Daniels eye will be fine without the surgery...and so happy Nathan is doing well in nursery school.  I loved the video...talk about relaxing me, the music..it was wonderful.
I better move on...you have a very nice weekend. Hugs and love,
Joyce

Hi Jeannette.......I am happy to report that my mom is fine. She is sticking to a diet from the doctor at Kaiser. I am sad to report that Hobo hasn't returned. I am sure whoever has him is probably taking good care of him. I hope whoever has him enjoys him as we did. I loved your video. I wish I was in your neck of the woods so I could pop in and say hello. I love seeing the swans they are a lot like ballet dancers. Of course I am feeling better thanks for your kind thoughts. I shall return to my journal soon. Tell the family I said hello for me. Thanks for thinking of me. Take care.
