Popping In

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hello my friends.  I thought it was about time I put in an appearance.

Still busy with research.  At the moment I do not know my Heinrich's from my Wilhelm's!  Mike's cousin in Germany has been very patient sending things through to me and I have reciprocated with copy marriage and death certificates. I have had to translate words for him and vice versa.  I still cannot get the tree to tie up and lead directly to Mike.  A mistake has been made somewhere but it will be rectified.  A surname change was found as well and we have no idea why this gentleman should change his name after his marriage or why he choose the name he did.  As he had no children there is nobody we can ask.

I have been held with doing as much as I would have liked because we all picked up some bug.  Strange thing it is as well.  Not flu but more a stomach thing but very vague.  We only know there is a lot of it around this area.  It starts with aching all over so badly you can scarcely move, feeling boiling hot one minute and freezing the next, complete loss of appetite and nausea, almost having to force food down and feeling very weak and very tired.  We have lived mainly on soups but thankfully we are all picking up now.

We never did get any snow to kill off all the germs.  Apart from that it is the same old housework, scanning photographs to send to Germany and adding ones our cousin sends to our tree.  It will be a job well done when it is finished.  I have also been re-checking on the internet for information about other lines of the family as new information is coming online all the time.  I have not even started printing things off yet.

So, that is my update.  Nothing exciting.  Well exciting to us but maybe not to all of you.

I shall not be turning my alerts back on yet because this is something I really want to finish and I cannot cope with that plus all the alerts.  However, I will visit those of you who read this entry and leave your journal address. That is only fair.  In the not too distant future I shall be back to commenting regularly.

I hope that all is well with everyone and that life is being kind to you.  Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

I often think I would like to investigate my family tree, Jeannett, so I am equally envious and in admiration of your efforts. Sorry to hear about the bug, hopefully you are far enough away from me for it not to find me ;-)
Look forward to reading about your investigations.
take care

I've been known to get lost in research projects for years.   When I come out of the "cave" everyone is like, "Oh, it's YOU.  Where have you been?"

Genealogy can be very challenging...not for the faint at heart.  As I've said...my dad was a Smith and that's been almost impossible to trace.  I've been able to go back just a few generations so far. The big news in my life is that my last day at work was Thursday.  I am now officially retired (and hoping there's going to be enough money coming in so I don't have to eventually get a part time job.)  Hope you're feeling better soon...Missing you but understanding that you need time to do what you're doing.  Gabi says hi to Jack & Jessie.   Linda in sunny but cold Washington state

Glad to see you're still around!  Enjoy your research and I hope you get all of your questions answered.

Good luck with getting all the research done...That stomach thing was VILE...I had the flu bug then as i was just getting over it it went into my stomach and i had that vile, nasty one you have had...It's been countrywide and i do think that the mild weather has contributed...As you said nothing to kill off all the germs so more people than usual have got it...2½ weeks i spent either in bed or on the sofa <sigh> On plus side i have lost a lot of weight with it and it is staying off :o) Do hope that your neck is better...Been a crap start to the year as Kerry has been in hospital so i haven't been writing in my journal much either    Caff xxxxxx

Hi Jeannette, Great to hear from you. There is a similar bug around here as well, but at the moment I have just got a bad cough, cold and sore throat. This family tree project of yours seems very interesting but also very time-consuming. I am sure it will be very rewarding when everything is finished. Look after yourself. Hope the boys are well.
Ciao

Hello Jeannette,

Sorry to hear that you`ve been poorly. Stomach bugs really make you feel low don`t they. I`m not feeling too great myself and I`ve been neglecting journals, not because I`m ill but because of recent events. I really hope Spring comes early as we could all do with the warm weather to cheer us up. Good luck with the family tree, I hope you make that connection soon. :o)

Love Sandra xxxx

Hi Jeannette, so sorry to hear that you have all been unwell, there has been a similar type of virus doing the rounds in this area aswell, touch wood I seem to have escaped it at the moment.
Keep up the good work with Mikes family tree, you sound as if you are really enjoying doing it,
take care Lynne xx

Hi Jeanette,
Sorry to hear you have had the flu as we have also.  I'm chuckling about the Wilhelms and Heinrichs.  We have a tad bit of German in our heritage as well.  Robert, my husband is a Prysock, and I think you kind of roll those k's on the end of the tongue and use a sort of gutteral skip of the tongue over them to pronounce his name properly as Germans would do.  Robert and I both have an enormous amount of Irish, Scotch and English heritage.  There are Williams and O'Kelsey's in our bloodline from Ireland.  Someone in our ancestry was from the House of Stanley and we understand they were Lords and Ladies in waiting to one of the British monarchs many years ago.  I am fascinated with all of this heritage talk.  Good luck to you on your research and glad you got to take a break to stop in.  I've been unpacking and getting settled in Kentucky and it's snowing!!  I'm so happy to be out of Florida and very unhappy to be unpacking STILL.  Hugs,
Lisa

That bug seems to be doing the rounds, Jeannette. Good luck with the genealogy - if you need any help with German translations don't hesitate to ask. But I gather you're already catered for, so that's good. See you when you're ready.

I was so very glad to see your post.  Sorry that you have been so ill.  We have freezing temps and below so our bugs should be frozen. Lots of snow and very windy so you hate to even venture outside. Take good care and good luck on the searching.  'On Ya' - ma

Jeannette, it was so nice to hear from you--I have been wondering how you were doing.  I am sorry to hear you have not been feeling well, but glad to hear that your family tree work is coming along.  I enjoyed your picture of the lilacs and roses.  Everytime I smell a lilac, it takes me back to when I was 16 and dating my future husband (that was 45 years ago!).  Take care, and we will wait to hear from you again.

Argh it's frustrating when you lose a piece of that jigsaw puzzle isn't it, but then one of the best feelings is when you find that piece and can go wooohooooo. Hope you are feeling better soon

Kudo's to you hon, for even attempting to do the research. Me I wouldn't have any patience at all for it. Although I must admit, being half Cherokee and half German I probably have a dozen interesting stories awaiting me on my origins LOL!! I do know it leaves me with one heck of a temper (winks). Love Ya Indigo

Jeannette, take your time and get your research all done.  There are still bugs floating around here even with sub zero temps.  You would think they would slow down a bit.  Hope you feel better.  I just wanted to say hello and wish you well.  Love xx Chris
