Hello my friends,
My last entry about Mike's Grandfather sparked us off on research again. I had finished my own family tree and put everything to one side. However, we decided to see if we could find out a little more about Mike's family.
We had already received, a few years back, quite a lot of information from Mike's second cousin Wilhelm in Germany but I have written to him again asking for further details. I have also been researching online as we discovered a little mystery about the second husband of Mike's aunt. I think I have managed to track where he came from. I have also managed to find Mike's two half-sisters. Both are dead now but I was able to add that information to the family tree. Mike never met them through circumstances that occured in the family and neither of them ever married so there is a full stop under that one. I also want to find some information about the place the family originated from in Germany.
I have also been applying for certificates which will give more information. Once I started my journal, the family tree got sidelined. However, now we have Nathan and Daniel it is important that all the information is put together correctly and printed off as well as being saved to disc. The boys are the inheritors of all who came before them.
One day they will be grateful for all the information and I hope they will add to it themselves and keep it going.
So, for a while I am going to put this journal on "hold" so that I can concentrate on getting that done. I am still limiting my computer time until my neck is really better. I have to look after it. Once before it got so bad I had to have physio for three months and could do practically nothing for around four months. I do not want to go down that road again.
I know you will all understand that I shall obviously not be commenting on journals. The family tree has always been very important to me. The people on it are no longer forgotten names, they are individuals again, individuals who had all the same hopes, dreams, problems we all do. I hope their names will echo down the years and give future generations an insight into past lives.
I hope to be able to share some further information with you about Mike's family, if he is agreeable.
In the meantime, please do not think I am ignoring you or do not wish to comment or that I have lost interest in my own journal, it is just that I have "got my research hat" on right now and that is taking all my computer time.
Have a good week everyone.

Enjoy your research and we'll see you when you get back. Look forward to reading about what you've discovered.

How exciting finding out more about the family and I am sure Daniel and Nathan will be forever grateful and can pass it on to their children in time. It will be extremely hard and frustrating work, but with each piece of new information you manage to slot into the jigsaw, you will feel a real sense of achievement. With best wishes. Eileenx
Good Luck Jeannette, yes it is inportant I feel too.It is a very long hard road at times though.I have all my fathers side and my daughter now is very inrested in carrying this through to her children,Like you though I have come to a halt on my mothers side,Grrrrrrr it is so frustrating when this happens.Well I hope you find as much as you can out.I hope you don't go down that road again.I had that with my legs early last year. But I can now rest them doing my research.Too much at times

Good luck on your research. It is always exciting to find bits and pieces of the past and try and put it all together. I have a lot of dates and peoples names in my tree, but not the other info about their lives. My mom could tell us about her immediate family and her grand parents , but our tree in the US extends to the 1700's and goes overseas to France, Germany and the Netherlands in the 1500's . Of course that is only on my maternal grandfather's side...I still have 3 other's and of course my husbands... Enjoy your treasure hunt! 'On Ya' - ma
I know how it is when you start family genealogy...it is additive LOL.and one fact leads to another and another...and another...LOL....and very rewarding and it will be a good thing for the grandson when they are older and you share both of your lives with them...good luck in your research...Hugs from KY...Ora

Dear Jeanette,
How good of you to do all of that research !
Awesome entry and lovely graphic!
I know your grandchildren will be so proud of you!
love,natalie
I agree that this research is important. Floyd has his family tree back to the 1500's, but I continue to work on mine, and I'm on again off again also. I reach a brick wall and put it on hold for a while. So good luck and take care of yourself. Joni
Good luck with the family tree, Jeannette, that can be very interesting.
Good luck Jeanette! I`m sure when you come back you will have lot`s to tell...
luv bella xx
Family heritage is such an important part of knowing who you are and where you are going!! A very important project!! I am still waiting on the new house to close but hanging in there. Hugs,
Lisa
Good luck with your search. What a fine mission to be on, and I hope that it will be rewarding for you. Take care of yourself, and we will wait to hear from you.
Jeannette genealogy is a facinating subject ~ I just wish I had asked more questions when I was younger so I knew more about my family ~ it is hard to trace back without knowledge although Lyn has gone well back in my family tree now ~ I wish you luck with yours ~ Ally
I think your research into your family tree is admirable Jeannette, if only I had the patience to work on my own. I`m afraid it would only ever be a half-hearted effort as I just don`t have the concentration needed. I think Nathan and Daniel will be really proud of the hard work you have to put this project and I`m sure they`ll want to pass it down to generations to come. Good luck with the research and I hope to hear from you when you`ve more time. Take care my dear friend. :o)
Love Sandra xxxx
This is absolutely interesting, Jeannette. Good luck with your work. If you need any help with German or Germany pls let me know and I'll try to help. I am a full time translator and I work every day from and into German. All the best
Auf wiedersehen!

I cannot wait to find out what other interesting things you have to tell us when you come back again. I'd love to do some geneology but I fear there are many twists and turns in my family which I cannot hope to unravel (and thats starting with both my parents). I do hope that you feel better soon. Hugs Terry x
Wishing you the best of luck with your research, Jeannette! You really have a talent for it. Take your time. Love xx Chris
Enjoy yourself!! My husband and I both have aunts on each side of our familys who keep track of the family trees...

I understand Jeannette. I have the "Family Tree Maker" program on my computer for adding info on my family history. It's fun to dig and dig and then finally you find a little nugget of information. Linda in Washington
Hello my dear Jeannette,
I think it is wonderful that you are working on your family tree I'm sure your family will enjoy it. My mother is working on our family's photo albums so that she can put together all of our photos but I think it is great that you are working on this. I'm sure Nathan and Daniel will be able to pass it on to their children later in life I know they will be grateful for all of your hard work.
We know that you will return to us at J-Land but please do take time on your project there is plenty of time for your return. You are missed however and it will be nice to hear from you again soon. Do take care my dear friend. Until then talk to you soon.
