Scorching Saturday

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Today really is a scorcher.  At last I have been able to sit in the garden for a little while after being laid up for days with a bad neck and shoulder.  It is still not completely right so I am going to continue limiting my computer time for a while yet especially as it is on the same side as my operation and treatment.

Firstly I would like to thank my dear friend and our journal friend Cindy of Cindy's Life for sending me from America these beautiful yellow roses after she read on my last entry that I was looking for some smallish artificial flowers to put on the t.v. in our new look bedroom.

As you can see, they are just perfect. Mike got me the vase at our local "factory" shop and also the glass pebbles and glass cubes.  I got some Rose oil and put a few drops on some of the blooms and now the whole room smells of roses.  Cindy, thank you so very much.  Your kindness has really touched my heart and they brighten the room even more and I think of you when I look at them.

Becky and family had a nice holiday.  They really struck lucky with the weather and the boys enjoyed being on the beach.

Even Nathan who is usually pale (takes after me) acquired a rosy glow.  Daniel has different skin type and tans very quickly although they are always smothered in strong sun cream.

I love this next photo - it reminds me of the Blues Brothers

On my last entry I showed you photographs of the sunflowers in Becky's garden.  Well, when they had returned home the plants had grown even bigger.  Two jacks and a beanstalk?  Well two jacks and some sunflower stalks!

The garden is looking pretty good although we have had a bad summer, the weeds have done well though, Mike is forever pulling them out.  I took this an hour ago from our sunlounge. As you can see we did get our big sunshade. Becky and Dean found it for us and Mike was able to get a cast-iron base to hold it.   Today is the first opportunity we have really had to use it.  You can bet that the weather will change now!

I have been spending a lot of time reading and listening to talking books plus occasional t.v.  I am going back outside when I finish this entry, sit with my book, listen to the sound of the water in the pond and just enjoy being in the fresh air after spending most of the last two weeks lying on the bed.

So, I will finish with a couple of pictures of me that Mike took just before I came in to write on my journal.

Before anybody asks what is in the bags in the summerhouse I will tell you.  Birdseed and rabbit food.  It is not usually kept there but him indoors put it there recently and forgot to move them before he took the photos.

So I will leave you for now with a wave.  I hope you all have a nice weekend.

It was so nice to get your alert, I think that sometimes you appreciate things more when you don't get them so often. Not that I wont appreciate your jottings when you get back to normal because I always did. It's nice to see the garden looking so great after the changeable weather we have been having, and the burst of yellow in the bedroom must brighten your day every morning when you wake up. Keep Well  Love Pat x

How nice everything looks, I know you are happy with your sun shade and being able to be outdoors.  Nature always seems to give us a sense of peace .  I usually try to sit out every evening before dark and listen to the chorus as it is so relaxing.  The chorus being some frogs, cicadas and a few crickets sprinkled in.  I love their music. Hope you only continue to get better and better from here on out. 'On Ya' - ma

Wow, those sunflowers are huge.  So happy the weather has been more like summer for you folks across the pond.  And your garden is lovely, your own private garden of Eden.   We're supposed to be in the low 70's here today.  Just right for my taste, I just wilt once it hits 80*.  I need to mow the back yard, but if it gets too hot I just can't.  Less than a week till we leave on the Alaskan cruise, I have so much to do indoors to get ready yet.   Have a wonderful weekend and hope that shoulder and arm feel better soon.   Linda in Washington state

It`s lovely to hear from you Jeannette.  The sunflowers are huge and what a great photo that is with the boys standing next to them. Isn`t it nice to have some sunshine after the last couple of dreary months. I predict a late summer than will go on until October...(fingers crossed...lol)  I hope your neck and shoulder feel a bit better now.

Love Sandra xxxx

Hello Jeannette,  It was lovely to see an alert from you, I've missed you!  Thank you for putting the photos on too, especially the ones of Nathan and Daniel, they look so big now, I like the 'Blues Brothers' one too!  Also it's good to see the photos of you sitting in the very welcome sun that we had today, you look very relaxed and I'm pleased to hear that you're still taking it easy. I know you haven't been checking other journals but I'd just like to say that my daughter Rhiannon had her baby boy on Wednesday 1st August, our big event of the month, if not year!  I did manage to put some photos on my journal at last too!  Love, Pat   http://journals.aol.co.uk/pm71blackfen/ramblings-from-pat/

So glad to have you back Jeanette, I've missed you.  Sorry to hear you've not been well over the last couple of weeks, but it's nice to see you sitting in the shade and smiling.  The boys look like they were having a grand old time on the beach and those sunflowers are HUGE.  That was really nice of Cindy to send those flowers they look really summery. We have had some really hot days as well and I hope it keeps up for a bit longer.
Take care of yourself Jeanette.
