New Look

This is not Leo but it is such a beautiful graphic and so like him.

The winds have abated but left us with a very strong breeze.  The sun appears now and again but it is mostly thick cloud. More rain is supposed to be sweeping in again tonight to give us a very wet day tomorrow and more rain is forecast in the areas already hit by flooding.  It was so sad to hear that two men died whilst trying to pump out a flooded basement, most likely it is thought,  being overcome by petrol fumes.

Well, I promised to show you  the bedroom when it was completed. The blind arrived a couple of days ago and is now in place.  The photos do not really do it justice.  The rooms are small here so wherever you stand you cannot get in the whole view but it will give you some idea.  I have to say we are very pleased with it.  I was wondering at first, how my choice of chocolate brown and yellow would pan out.  Need not have worried, the colours look wonderful together.  Even on dark days now and we have had quite a few of them recently, it looks like the sun is shining in there.  In this shot, Mike had not fixed the curtain properly at one end.  Never mind.  It is the colour and pattern that count.

The Spider plant is really too big for the top of the t.v. but I hate it being bare.  Ideally I want to find a small bunch of bright yellow or gold artificial flowers to put in a vase there.  It is difficult because nobody sells artificial flowers around here anymore and the ones I have looked at online are ridiculous prices.  So the Spider plant will have to do for a while until it starts to take over completely like a Triffid.

I have no idea why the walls have a greenish tinge in this next photo because as I told you they are yellow. The bookcases were painted as well.

The bedding alas, is one of those materials that creases easily.  Yes, it had been ironed but you only have to sleep in it and it looks as though it has not been pressed.

So now you have had a little glimpse into the new boudoir.  Mike worked very hard.  The ceiling was painted and all the woodwork including the insides of drawers. Even a mirror and the handles got the treatment.  They have always been gold but we decided on silver this time as a contrast to the yellow.

I am hoping the weather will improve as Becky and family went away for a week yesterday.  They are staying near the coast in a caravan.  Becky has said that if the weather really is awful then they will come home which would be a shame.

Mike has managed to get the lawns cut and the hedge trimmed down between all the rain but it is still not really warm enough to sit outside, the breeze has quite a chill to it.

Continuing on the yellow theme, Becky sent me some photos of Sunflowers in her garden.  I always used to grow them but have not done so for a few years.  When the seeds ripen she will be using them as bird food.  They have stood up very well to the high winds. As you can see she managed to take the photos on one of the rare days that the sky was blue.

I shall be watching "Baby Ballroom - The Championship" on t.v. tonight.  From the preview I have seen it looks very good.  The dancing of those small children amazes me.

I have also decided to take a week away from journalling.  I really spend far too long on my computer and it is not goodfor me.  When you come to the end of each day and realise that the majority of your time has been spent in front of a monitor and keyboard.........................well it makes you think. I need to put my mind on other things for a while and also try to be more active.  They say the weather will improve next week.  If so then I want to be outside not stuck in these same four walls.  I want to enjoy the garden, I want to get some fresh air and sunshine within reason.  I cannot do that sitting here.  So I know you will understand.  We all need a break from routine now and again. I will be turning off alerts during that time.

In the meantime, have a great weekend, stay safe, be happy and wishing you a good week ahead.

Love,

Your room is bright and sunny.  When you said 'brown' I couldn't imagine that would look so nice, but it is perfect. I'm glad you have the promise of some nice weather.  You certainly need it badly in your part of the world.  We can never choose the weather, but we can choose how we are able to whether it for sure.

You and your Mke have really done a good job of brighten up your space inside and out this year.  Sunflowers have always been a favorite of mine .  They always turn to the sun, just we too tend to do.  I'll be praying you have a good rest away from the computer and are able to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, and will be looking forward to your return so you can tell us all about it.  'On Ya' - ma

I want a bedroom like that. Wow, it is so beautiful. What kind of yellow flowers do you like? Artificial flowers are sold everywhere here in Philadelphia. And under a dollar for a nice bunch. Let me know ok. I love the curtains and bedding. I do hope those rains stop there. It worries me that the rains haven't stopped. I understand you need time away from computer. I had myself removed from the group. I haven't been feeling well and it is just too much to keep up on. I did manage to sleep 9 whole hours last night and wow I feel so much better this morning. My Jim says I need sleep and maybe my iron level is low again which is why I am tired all the time. We'll see when I go to doctor's next saturday. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend. (((((((((((hugs))))))))
Love you,
Cindy xoxoxo

Everything looks so pretty.  I love the bedroom remodeling...colors are so nice.  I know what you mean about how the photos can change from the real color to another.  It has happened to me too.  I wish I could share my photos of my new bathroom remodel.  Today was the day, but AOL won't even let me add a thing...but words.  I am happy to see you could add yours.  Have a great weekend...hugs and love,
Joyce

Glad that he also managed to get your lawn cut. Love the colors in the bedroom, you brought sunshine inside. Your hubby did a magnificient job. Leave the spider plant because it is one of the healthiest plants you can have inside a home, it does clean the air quite well.  Fake one may look good but the real ones have a real benefit to you. I love your daughter Sunflowers just beautiful...hope the sun stays out for your guys for a while.  Enjoy your garden and we will touch base every so often...Love, Sandi

Oh Jeannette...that's a lovely bedroom.  I love the look.  I also love the shades making it look sunny on a dark day.  Oh...I know what you mean about hanging out on the PC all day.  It's nice to find a good mix of things to do.  Then you look forward to doing each thing.  A good book, a routine walk - viewing God's nature which always brings delight, fixing a good meal.  Your idea of fun might be different.  LOL
Have a good day.  Off to work I go....so much for the pc, reading, walking, cooking - LOL.

Mike did a wonderful job of painting in the bedroom.    It is always kind of risky having a live plant with water on electronics so an artificial one would be the best.    Becky's sunflower is enormous and makes for a tremendous photo!    The birds will appreciate the seeds this winter.     I have seen the effects of flooding where you live and it is devastating.     Texas and Kansas have been hit hard here by flooding also.     It is 4 inches below normal here with temps in the mid 90's F and high humidity.     I have been busy every other day working on my home construction since my spinal epidural in late June.    It was a steriod that was x-ray guided into the lumbar spinal sheath.    I have been able to bend and move unlike before.     Surgery is the last option.     I wish you continued health as well as for Mike and family.    Also I hope you get to enjoy some nice outdoor weather.    I will be back on the computer in the winter visiting journals and making entries.     I am on my back resting and reading on the days when I am not physically active so that I will feel well enough to get some good work in.    For now I will say good bye and wish you a great summer!     mark

Your bedroom looks really lovely Jeannette and the blind really sets off the new look. It will look really sunny when you wake up despite what the weather is like outside! I grew sunflowers this year but several were badly damaged while we were on holiday so I only had three left. I wanted to keep the seeds but the birds had most of them. Next year I`m going to grow a couple of Russian Giants just to see how tall they get.  The weather has been gorgeous all week so I picked the right time to take a week off work. I just hope the sunshine will last a bit longer. Have a lovely weekend. :o)

Love Sandra xxxx

be well,
