It has been one of those weeks that you would rather forget.
Last Sunday the table came over from Becky and Dean and all the work clearing out the sideboard and removing it from the room was worth it. The table fitted in well and there is less clutter. Mike began staining the chairs in dark oak (they look like new now) and as he was sneezing a good deal we put it down either to the fumes from the wood stain or hayfever which he used to suffer with badly.
However, he then developed a sore throat, temperature and headache and pains all over his body. Two days later, I went down with it. We have both been very poorly for the last few days. We both still have chesty coughs and feel very weak and tired so that has put a temporary halt to any attempts to finish clearing out the loft or doing anything in the garden.
Thankfully the weather has remained mild and we have been able to have the doors and windows open. Well, we did until..........a new neighbour over at the back of us decided to demolish his garage. Well, yes he is entitled but we are talking about an asbestos roof here. He set about it with a pickaxe. Asbestos is supposed to be dealt with in a proper manner, some types of it are more dangerous than others but it should all be treated with respect. We had dust and bits flying everywhere and this is all started when baby Daniel was playing in the garden. We have a councillor living a couple of doors up so Mike mentioned it to him. I know the council took it seriously and informed the health and safety department. Apparently they paid him a visit because they were concerned as to how he was going to dispose of it. We are not bad neighbours but you cannot be too careful where health is concerned. Anyway we still had to put up with him using a pneumatic drill until around 9 p.m. every evening and that lasted several days. Oh the joys of summer. As if we were not feeling bad enough we had to close the doors and windows.
Becky got a new car about ten days ago. A beautiful colour and much bigger for the boys who were very cramped up in the old one. On Tuesday she had a prang in it. She was very upset as you can imagine. Becky is a very good driver with a clean record - it was just one of those fluke things that can happen to anyone. Luckily no injuries were sustained by anybody but the insurance companies are now involved and the car has to go away for repairs and that cannot be done until the end of the month.
Like I said, one of those weeks you would rather forget.
I sold about eighteen items on Amazon and they went like hot cakes, we were sending parcels out every single day but now things have dried up completely. I have another fifty items for sale on there and I am praying they do go because I do not now have the room to keep them since we changed things around and they are far too good for a charity shop. So I am keeping my fingers crossed for some sales.
Well, on a lighter note, I have a lovely new photo of Nathan and Daniel. Neither of them are smiling but it is a beautiful photo all the same and will be going in a frame on our wall.
They are not really anything alike as you can see but then neither were my brothers, people never thought they were related.
As I have not been able to do anything due to this bug I have filled the time by doing competitions in a magazine. You never know, I just might have some good luck. I can live in hopes.
Finally, a couple of new shots of our other boys
I shall try to catch up on a few of your journals today and over the weekend.
I hope you have all had a good week and I hope that next week will be better for us.
Until the next time....................

So sad to hear of your misfortunes Jeanette, but as you say we all have weeks like that from time to time. I hope you and Mike are feeling much better now.
Your grandsons are beautiful (I know you shouldn't say that about boys, but they truly are) and so different from each other. Best regards and love to you and all of your family, not forgetting the lovely dogs. Pam Farrow.
love the graphic, and the pics.....both lots of boys are looking good!! Sorry to hear about Becky's car, I know how she feels cos my car was pranged just 2 weeks after I got it.......£300.00 worth!!! Glad the insurance is sorting it!

I'm back from the dead! Got new computor yesterday. Hope you soon get over the after effects of that bug. I like the "natural" look of your boys - they're little darlings. Take care my friend.

I am so sorry that you and Mike has been under the weather. Hope you soon get well. That was a dangerous thing your neighbor was doing. I love the picture of Nathan and Daniel. Hugs, Helen
Cute picture of the boys! Your neighbors careless behavior is surprising. Hope you feel better...Jae
Jeannette, hope you and Mike are feeling better soon. Yes asbestos removal is not to be taken lightly, now that we know how very dangerous it is. Some people just have no concern for others. They boys are precious, they do look a little somber but such sweet little faces. They will be great pals. And Jack!! Jack doesn't look like a puppy anymore. He looks all grown up. So sorry about Becky's car, glad it's not too serious. Have a lovely Friday evening, Linda in WA
Jeannette sorry you and Mike have been off colour ~ hope you are both feeling better now ~ That new neighbour sounds a bit of an idiot don't he know how dangerous asbestos is ~ good thing Mike went and saw the councillor neighbour ~ as you can't be too careful where health is concerned ~ Hope he has finished all the banging and drilling now and you are getting a bit of peace ~ Sorry Becky had a prang glad it wan't too serious ~ The picture of the boys is lovely it's nice sometimes to see a natural picture with no smiles and that one is lovely ~ and your other boys look lovely too Jack looks all grown up ~ Ally
Sorry to hear you've not been feeling too well....I've had a nasty cold too! Must be a big cold/virus outbreak all over the country! Poor Becky and her new car...glad to hear no one was hurt though!!
Gill xx
Hello Jeannette,
I'm not a regular commenter on your blog, but I think your neighbour is almost criminally negligent. Asbestos MUST be removed using proper procedures, and a pickaxe is most definitely NOT a proper procedure. I think it says enough that it requires a specialist company, with the right equipment, which includes special suits for the workers. You could also be affected.
That wood finishing stuff sounds hellish.
Have a good weekend,

I do hope you and your dear husband are feeling much better very soon. Summer colds are so miserable!!! Your grandsons are just so adorable! I think they have the same eyes. My sister and I were total opposites. I was very blond with blue eyes. She had a head full of black hair and green eyes. My mom thought they had given her the wrong baby the first time she saw Carol. LOL Your dogs are just beautiful. Border Collies are the smartest breed on earth and they have delightful personalities. Take good care and feel better soon!
Love, Kathy

Oh, P.S. Your graphic is beautiful, too!!!
I do hope you and Mike will feel better soon. We had to have some asbestos taken from some of the flats and they had a special unit outside to decontaminate the workmen afterwards, even though they were dressed up like spacemen! Asbestos is so dangerous. Love the pics of the boys, all of them! Have a good weekend! Jeannette xx
Its so nice to have an entry from you Jeannette. . sorry that you have been ill though.I love the photo of the boys in pensive mood,Daniel is so like Becky. They are so cute in their little shirts! God. . that neighbour is such an idiot!
Hi Jeannette...
hope you are both feeling better...love the graphic and pics of the two boys bless them! take care and have a great weekend...good to see you back, i miss reading your journals each day...
Astra!
Hi Jeannette !!!!!!!!! H Mike !!!!!! and Hello to the family !!!!!!!!
I was wondering how everyone was getting along. I'm sorry that you guys got sick recently I hope that the both of you get well soon. The weather here has been sticky hot I would prefer some mild weather like you all got. The neighbor should have contacted you guys and asked if you all would mind him doing some repairs or what have you. He also should have contacted the health department to see how he should go about picking at Asbestos that is certainly dangerous to anyone's health. I think that he shold be told how to go about it in a more healthy manner than perhaps making people sick. I don't think you are wrong for saying that about your neighbor I would have felt the same way. I'm also sorry to hear about Becky what a shame luckily no one was injured of course. The boys are certainly getting bigger and I think quite cute.
I really enjoy coming to visit your journal. Keep us posted and take care. Tell everyone I said hello for me. Byyyyyyye for now.
Hope everyone will be feeling better soon!!! No fun to be sick when there are things to do... And poor Becky and her new car.... You were right to complain about the neighbor, abestos is not something to just ignore...
All the boys are too cute!!
Have a better weekend!!
Linda :)
Beautiful picture of the boys...my how they have grown. Hope you and hubby are feeling better, it's miserable being sick in the summer. I would of had a fit with your neighbor too, absestos is nothing to sneeze at (pun intended). Sandi
What cute pictures of the boys - and of your four-legged babies too!
So sorry you're feeling bad. I hope you'll be better soon.
Hugs,
Gwynn
Hi Jeannette, I`m really sorry to hear that you and Mike have been so ill. I hope you are both recovering now though you must take it easy for a while. What a thoughtless neighbour you have, surely he must have known how dangerous asbestos is. When we first moved into this house we had to remove some but Jim took advice from the council so that he handled it and disposed of it safely. Some people never fail to amaze me with their unsociable behaviour. I`m glad Becky wasn`t hurt in the prang but she must have been very shook up as it`s always a shock when these things happen. The photo of the boys is lovely and I can`t believe how grown-up Daniel in particular looks, he`s the image of Becky I think. Jesse and Jack look great too with Jack having grown into a fine looking dog. Take care my dear friend and I hope you have a really nice weekend. :o)
Love Sandra xxxxx
that bug sounds so much like one my mother is recovering from,it sounds nasty and so tiring,I hope you feel better soon.xxzoexx

I hope you and Mike feel better and stronger each day. These viruses in the summer seem worse than in the winter. I love the pics of both of your boys, you grandsons and your fur boys. Take care. Susan
