I just reached the amazing amount of 1,800 people I am related to in some way or another on the family tree. Well, 1,802 to be precise!!!!! 545 different surnames through inter-marriages and eighteen generations in all but not all on the same line. Ten years work but very worthwhile and much easier nowadays with the internet.
To think, when I started, I only knew about 30 people to put down.
Which reminds me, if any of you would like some research done, I would be happy to look for you but please bear in mind I cannot conjure something out of nothing. I would need some basic facts.
I can access the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census records and also births, marriages and deaths. I would need the name of the person (it is much easier with males because, as a rule, they do not change their names) the place where they lived and if possible an occupation would help. I could not possibly help if you asked me to look for a John Smith in London. Anyone interested can drop me an e-mail and I promise I will try my hardest.
Best of all, if you are interested, it will cost you.........nothing. I have a year subscription to the main site where I do my research. As I have eleven months left of it, it would be a pity to waste it. So scratch your heads, ask around for information and I will see what I can do.
Anyway, we are, apparently, ALL descended from one female. So hi all you cousins of mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Off to make the dinner now but I am elated that this magic figure suddenly appeared on my screen congratulating me. I like to think all my ancestors would be proud.

Isn`t it amazing that you have so many descendants. I suppose we all have but you taken taken all this time and trouble to find out. Well done Jeannette. I know so little about about my family that it would be almost impossible to start looking, and with the main family name of Smith, well you said yourself it would be impossible! lol
In answer to your comment: As far as we know tiger bread has to be because of the stripes but it does seem to have something different in the taste. I`ve half a mind to ask when I`m in Tescos next. Have a great weekend my friend... ;-)

Congratulations! Gosh - you must have done a terrific amount of work to find so many family connections. It's a wonderful achievement. But I wonder how future generations will get on with Genealogical research - now that so many people don't bother to get married. Marriage Certificates give indispensible information - which won't be available to many in the future!

Amazed and proud I think they would be.........to be remembered after so long, something they would not probably have thought of. Most kind of you to offer to do research for people.......seems you've found a thrilling hobby and fast becoming an expert in that field..........imagine what a family get together that would be for those still surviving, a big hall would be needed and days, you couldn't get to know all in a few hours.~xxR
Astounding! And to think I don't even know the names of my great grand parents. Sad.
1802, that is amazing and lovely that you have had a good time finding them all as well ............Jules x

So, where is it that you do your research? 1,800 people! It *is* amazing. I'm sure your ancestors would be proud....

Wow, that's amazing! It must have been really interesting to research. Apparently, Barbara Erskine wrote her first couple of novels after researching her family tree.... so...novel next?

I am full of admiration for you Jeanette!1,802 is a massive achievement! I am doing my mothers line and its thrilling as I never even knew her mother,my grandmother. There are so many twists and turns in geneology !Well done ,Mike must be so proud of you.Have you had a pc for 10 years too?
That is amazing Jeannette - I wish I could think of something for you to look for but I have no idea.......
Your ancestors would be proud. I know I am. A lot of hard work here, dear one. This is short. I've got lots to do today, but had to check on you. Hope all is well, ...well, as good as can be. Hugs. *Barb*
Wow! I think that is just fantastic. It's your heritage, and it's also your daughters and your grandson's and your future grandchild's. I would love for you to do some checking for me, but first let me ask, is this only for England or can you check here in the U.S.? I'm honestly clueless where to start and my daughter and son-in-law don't have enough time to check things out. My daughter has a page from the family Bible, my grandfather's family, but that's the ones I'm trying to find out about. I want my daughter to know her heritage from my side of the family. My husbands family on his mother's side has been traced back to the 1600's so that part of her family tree is full. If you have access, I will get the names from the family Bible page. What a very generous offer you have made to all of us.
I hope you are feeling OK. I guess it's getting very spring-like there now.

The internet makes it so much easier doesn't it, I have only been doing it a few weeks now but have been very lucky in that so many people have sent me a copy of their tree so I have just passed the 1000 mark. Great work Jeanette
Well, that is fantastic Jeannette!! 1802!! I'm sure your ancestors would be proud, and so happy to be remembered. All descended from one woman? Wow! I heard somewhere the other day that there's a DNA test you can have done, to find out which part of the country or world your family came from, back when we were all small clans and villages. Wouldn't that be something!!

That's absolutely amazing. What a lot of work you must have done. Congratulations. Pennie
well, that's great news! you've worked long and hard - congratulations :-)
That is great. I want to do that one day too. Some people say it is exciting and sometime when you find felons/criminals in your tree, kinda sad too... Hey, there's always one in every family, right? Have a great week!
