Linen And Stuff

Still chilly although not as cold as it was.  Monday again, where does the time go.  Thanks for all the lovely comments on little Daniel in his snow suit.

Just been doing one of those jobs that you tend to leave and leave - cleaning out the airing cupboard.  Not sure if our American friends have airing cupboards.  Anyway, it is the place where we keep all our towels, drying up cloths, bedding etc. etc.  It was badly in need of doing to say the least!!!

I have been through everything and thrown away all the things that were worn and tatty.  When we buy new bedding, I always tend to keep the old bedding "just in case" - probably a habit I acquired from my mother.  Anyway, all the old stuff  has all gone now and we have masses of room.  Only trouble is that I shall have to buy loads of new tea towels now and some more hand towels.

Him indoors has just disappeared outside to put up the rest of the Christmas lights accompanied by moans of "it's cold out there."  Hope he has tried them all first to make sure they are in working order.

Tomorrow we have the new piece of furniture coming. So we have made room for that as well.  I thought Spring was the traditional time for cleaning.  Well, not in our home!  Actually it is a present from me to him indoors, a combined wedding anniversary and birthday gift that he wanted a few days in advance.  A computer desk.  He has our old computer for doing all his photographic work and for ages it has been sat on our dining room table so I shall be glad it will have a new home of its own.  It is coming tomorrow anytime between 7.30 a.m. and 1 a.m. so we are going to be busy again and then I hope to start putting up the inside decorations.  That is something I dread, getting all those boxes down from the loft and going through it all.  You end up with glitter and tinsel bits all over the carpet.  However, it is worth it in the end.

So, I had better get off here and get stuck into the rest of the housework.  I would prefer to curl up with a book but there you go, it will not do itself.

Thanks to all of you who have sent your addresses for my Christmas card list.  It is not too late for those of you that have not, I shall be writing the cards towards the end of the week.  After all, we talk to each other all year through our journals and we have all become friends.  Nice to be able to send a personal greeting. Internet cards can be nice but they are not quite the same as something popping through your letterbox.

As we all seem to be getting in the Christmas mood, I shall sign off with a Christmas siggie today.

Will remember to hit the save button this time, LOL! Love the graphic Jeannette and I have snagged it! Our Christmas decs won't be going up for another couple of weeks, and yes Rob will moan that it is cold! I have not got an airing cupboard here unfortunately.....don't half miss it cos we had a humungous one at Mum and Dads old house.....oh how I wish we had never moved from there! I am trying to do my ironing but motivation is distinctly missing at the moment - perhaps it has something to do with the fact I have been doing housework since 7.30 and I am shattered........!

I bet your house is going to look fabulous after you get it all decorated!  We do have "Airing out cupboards" but here they are called "Linen Closets."  I was just digging in mine Thursday looking for a tablecloth, and I realized it needs to be cleaned out.  Have a great day

I haven't got an airing cupboard, I air my things on an airer before putting them away. I've been on the computer since 10am scanning photos. I'll do a bit of tidying up before I go to bed at 3pm, I'm working nights this week. I did iron 17 blouses on saturday so I have got slightly sorted out. Amazing how much work has to be done indoors!! Jeannette.

Good morning Jeannette, Your graphics are very pretty today. I have what I call a linen closet and it neads cleaning very badly. Wanna come over and do the job for me. LOL. While you are here I will let you go ahead and clean the rest of the house also.
Bet Jim's computer will be glad of a new home. Now that is one place that really needs cleaning around here is my computer desk. Hope I will get it cleaned before Christmas because the den is where everyone gathers at Christmas. My computer desk and another old desk where I do my pictures when I scan and print them along with a filing cabinet where I keep my supplies takes almost one end of the den.
Enough said about me as this Is YOUR  journal space. Have a good evening. We are expecting bad weather here with high winds, rain and hail. Hope we don't have any tornadoes. Hugs, Helen

I don`t have an airing cupboard anymore Jeannette,  we have our boiler in there now and I have our bed linen in the underbed drawers, and the towel etc. in a large otterman in the spare bedroom.  I must say that I do miss it, never mind I`ll just have to manage...lol!  I know what you mean by the bits of tinsel etc. over the floor, it always happens doesn`t it?   I love your new look journal, very smart!  :o)

I like the sound of the, an airing cupboard.   Drying up cloths, are those for dusting and such?  Tea Towels, I bought some for my daughter-in-laws when I was in Minnesota, in a little town called Harmony that is Amish. Guess everytime I see a Tea Towel now I'll think of you Jeannette.  Okay, okay, after I go grocery shopping today I'll start cleaning out the closets where I keep all my sheets, towels and bedding.  Perhaps your starting a new tradition for everyone.  Happy Birthday to Him Indoors - lol.  I fully agree with you on personal greetings coming in the mail.  Count me in on your Christmas Card List - I'll send you my address.

You have put me to shame over the whole Xmas thing so now I will have to put my Xmas hat on and get thinking plus put my pinnie on and get cleaning out that airing cupboard and everywhere else as well as look out the decprations in the loft...if I can find them! Can I add a Scottish tea towel to your bare(haha) linen cupboard ? If so please tell me where to send it!
