All Change!

It hardly seems possible that Christmas is almost here.  Outside the sun has been shining brightly and although chilly, it is not nearly as cold as it should be at this time of year.  It does not even seem right that the sun is shining.  Maybe because I remember only too well all those Christmas times of long ago when there were either very sharp frosts that looked like snow, snow itself (those were the magical times) or freezing fog.  I liked the winter season as it used to be.

Those of you who viewed the video of our lounge decorations will remember that above the mantlepiece we had multi-coloured lights.  Well, we still have multi-coloured but they have changed!  Once we put our decorations up we do not normally fiddle around with them.  However, we always have lights in the dining room so that we can eat in the glow of them.  I always put a Christmas tree in there on the sideboard.

Well, of course, the sideboard had to go when we acquired the new and larger dining table.  There was just not room for both.  So Mike said he would drape some along the back wall.  Off into the loft he went again to get some only to find that the one set we had left up there was no longer working.  So he popped out to one of our little local shops just to get a cheap set.  He came back with one that had clear bulbs but were LED.  It just said on the box - multi-coloured. So we plugged them in to try them.  When we saw the effect, we just knew that they had to be in the lounge.  They go so perfectly with our two blue LED decorations.  Mike swiftly took the original ones down and replaced them with the new ones.  I think you will agree that they are perfect

We have used the lights that were previously up in the lounge to decorate the dining room.

Most of our parcels are now wrapped and the only food to get is the fresh veg and fruit.  It will be no time at all before Christmas is behind us.  Once September is over, Christmas seems to come so fast and then be gone in the blinking of an eye.

Nathan has his nursery school Christmas party this afternoon and he should enjoy that.  Becky says he has received more Christmas cards than she has! Talking of Nathan, he has now brought home his Christmas artwork. I might share pictures with you next time.

I would like to thank all of you who have sent us cards.  We have a lovely display of them and it is so nice to receive them and have something cheerful to open in the mornings. We have had a couple of strange ones.  One from someone we simply cannot place, do not know the names at all but they obviously know us and one to Jeannette and Bill - this was from a relative and as I have been married to Mike for 36 years, you would think she would know his name by now lol.

Oh well, back to the grind.  I am hoping my back will be better in time for Christmas.  I am being very careful in what I do but a week after pulling it badly just by jumping up from a chair too quickly, it is still giving me lots of pain.  Still, we have a week to go and I am trying not to let it get me down.

How are all your preparations going?

Your new lights are beautiful.  Hope you're better for the Christmas festivities.  One of the hardest things I have getting used to is the fact that I don't move as fast as I used to.  Everything takes longer and I have to learn to adjust to that.  Take good care !  'On Ya' - ma

The light are so beautiful.  Christmas seemed to come quicker this year than ever before.  I work Mon, Tues & Wed this week then I'm off Thurs and Fri.  Friday afternoon I cook my family's Christmas Dinner.  So I will have the actual Christmas weekend off from cooking, etc.  The little ones are at a good age to really enjoy all that goes with Christmas this year.  Linda in WA

Enjoy your beautifully decorated home.   I'll say it again...it looks absolutely magical!

Oh Jeannette, those lights look absolutely lovely, after I saw your video the other evening I just had to put up lights in our lounge, they look o.k. but certainly not on a par with yours, but our room looks much more cheerfull.  I wish you and your family a very happy and peaceful Christmas, although with the grandchildren I don't suppose there will be that much peace, just enjoy them.   Mags x

Hello Jeannette,  Just to say I think your lights look absolutely beautiful!  We try to make our house look 'magical' for the grandchildren too and I'm sure Nathan and Daniel will be over-awed by your lounge and dining room.  Thanks for showing us the picture of the new lights.

The graphics too, are out of this world,  I can't make up my mind which one I love best!  The first one makes me want to sit right by that fire and the second one makes me want to be in that street!  ~~~~Pat

Hello Jeannette,  What beautiful lights, I`ve not seen them with those colours before.  They look just like a fairy grotto!  I didn`t know you`d hurt your back, I do hope you`ll be feeling much better by Christmas, it must be a real hindrance to with and painful with it.  It`s very cold and miserable here, no frost this morning just icy rain which makes it feel even colder still.  Oh well, it might yet turn to snow....I doubt it but I can dream! :o)

Love Sandra xxxx

PS:  Who is this Bill...lolol! ;o))))

The lights look spectacular with a misty glow!     Hope your back is doing better.    Other than sending out some photos to my family I have no Christmas preparations.     Here we are upon it now and the weather here has just turned to colder and raining after having been 60 F last week.    I can remember some snowy Christmas's from when I was young living in N. Illinois south of Chicago in Joliet when it was cold and covered with snow.    I made a small amount of money shoveling people's driveways and sidewalks.    I also had a newpaper route and Christmas was when I got my yearly 'tip' taking around Christmas Calendars from the newspaper.    Wishing you and your family a very good Christmas!     mark

That lounge looks even more magical.  Your home just seems to glow, Jeannette.  I'm moving along like a turtle with my preparations.  Thank goodness, I don't host the Christmas gathering anymore.  I miss doing it but it was so much work.  Take care of your back.  Love xx Chris
