Whilst all the preparations for Christmas have been forging ahead Jack and Jesse have been treating life in their usual laid-back manner. They know something is happening. After all Jesse has been through it before (I am sure he knows he gets special things to eat and new toys). He has already been sniffing around packages so we have had to hide them. Jack is very curious about what has been going on and watching everything we do.
In the meantime though, they have been enjoying their daily romps with Mike. For the last couple of days we have had heavy frosts and mist. Mike took this video yesterday.
The green railings you will see are to protect an iron-age burial mound. When it was excavated, only a few artefacts were found. Any bodies buried there were removed centuries ago. So many people climb to the top to admire the view or just go up out of curiousity that it is now wearing away, hence the relatively new protective railings. You can still see the frost on the ground.
As I mentioned recently, Jack will be a year old on Christmas Day. Although I say it myself, he has grown into a very handsome dog and just like our late Pip was, he is loved by everybody. Jesse has always been affectionate but saves it mostly for us and he likes other dogs as well. Strangers he can take or leave alone as the mood strikes him. Jack, however, loves everyone, he loves being petted. Last week Mike was over at the local fields with him and saw another dog-walker friend, Bob, sitting on a bench. Bob was crying because his dog is so gravely ill. Jack ran straight to him, reared up, put his paws on his shoulders and licked his face. Mike sat there for ages with Bob trying to comfor him and Jack sat by Bob the whole time offering his paw, putting his head on Bob's knee. Mike was very touched by it.
Pets give so very much to people. It saddens me to think that, once again this year animals will be purchased and then when people realize they need looking after, house-training, exercise, they will be cast aside. It happens every year. A pet is a responsibility for its entire life. We are blessed in having our two companions.
So Jesse and Jack, in their own way, wish you all a very Merry Christmas especially to all J-Land pets. They ask you to remember that whilst your pet/pets are tucking into turkey, chicken or whatever treats you decide to give them and joining in your family celebrations, there are thousands of animals not so fortunate. Animals desperately in need of a permanent loving home. If you cannot offer a home to an animal then please consider supporting an animal charity and help in that way. Even little things make a difference. For instance, this year I have saved all the postage stamps from the Christmas cards we received to send to a refuge that takes in abused and neglected horses and donkeys.
So from our two boys - Merry Christmas to all and woof woof to all your pets.

I loved watching the boys romp. It's so very nice that you have a place like that for them to run off some energy. The music went well with their antics. You have some beautiful countryside there. They are wonderful dogs and Yes, I agree we are fortunate to have them. My own beagle never gets to run free like that he is either leashed or on a line here at my house. No place to go and run like that. Thanks for sharing and bringing a smile to me this cold winter morning ! 'On Ya' - ma
lol, Merry Woofness" to the dogs too! So sad for Bob you get so attached to animals and become good friends with them. your well organised too as I sit here the tree still isnt up!!ouch!
luv bella xx
Looks like you caught jesse doing his business lol nice to see the doggies on a romp. So sad about that man and his dog Its so hard so very hard.
That was a very good film. Mike did good. They have a great place to run. So sad for Bob who's dog is sick. I am sure they are going to have a very good Christmas with all of you. They are going to love watching Nathan and Daniel tearing into the presents and probably be right in the middle of it all. Yes, a person needs to be sure they really want a dog before getting one. That way they and the dog will be happy. Thanks for sharing the film and pictures. Merry Christmas to all of you including Jack and Jesse. Hugs, Helen

Very nice pictures, man they can run can't they/ We had a dog a few years ago and she would get under the tree and smell out the choc covered cherrys we would get for our daughter, she ate the frist box and found the second one but we found her before she could open it...... lol......Merry Christmas to them, you and HIM.......DIANE
Yes, I'm getting your alerts! I expect people are likely to be busy over the folowing days and I'm sure they will catch up soon! I'm off to walk & feed a friend's dog while she goes out tomorrow. He's a large black labrador, almost as big as me, so that when he greets me enthusiastically, I have to brace myself or be knocked over!

Handsome boys, they are!!! Jae
I waited as the video with Jack running -- slowly downloaded and watched for several minutes but it would take over a half hour to watch at the rate it runs on my computer. The photos of Jesse and Jack are wonderful. I like the graphic with your photo in it. Salty and I wish you and the dogs and family a very good Christmas! mark
S'tewth Jeanno, your feller is a handy man with a camera isn't he?? Don't forget to tell him I said so will you? I don't know who was the star, your bloke or either of the dogs. I didn't even notice the green railings till the third time round. Have a happy Chrismas and may all who you love return it a thousand fold. Bye. Jimxxx
Sorry for the double entry but I forgot the boys. to all of you goodwishes
Lovely video Jeannette, I love watching dogs playing together. Jack has certainly grown into a beautiful dog, what a lovely coat he has too. My daughter was going to get her little boy a dog a few weeks ago but realised it was too near Christmas for them to be able to give it their full attention so they're going to wait a few months now. She has wanted a dog for quite a while but she has asthma and was afraid to, someone told her that if she got a short-haired dog that doesn't moult it wouldn't affect her as much, we don't know how true that is.
Tell Mike he did another excellent job filming! ~~~ Pat
I just loved watching the dogs play. I could sit and watch that all day. I hope Santa's good to the dogs this year! LOL
Missie
Thanks for that lovely video. Jack and Jesse are so gorgeous. It is great that you have such a lovely area to exercise them. My little Dee a min. wire haired dashound has his 4th birthday tomorrow. He sends his love to Jesse and Jack.
I loved the video. Jack looks like he would love to herd Jessie along but Jessie is his own man and won't allow it. What beautiful dogs. And even though Gabi doesn't really like dogs...she wants you to give Jack and Jessie a hug from her (and another from me) and wish them Merry Christmas. Linda & Gabi in Washington state
These pictures came out so good! Look at the way Jack cocked his head, for the
shot! Thanks for sharing, Jeannette. ~Diane~

I am a three-year-old English Springer Spaniel. My master brought me home as a puppy to my mistress, and I have helped her keep depression and loneliness at bay and been her loyal companion since the first time I curled up in her arms. I think I would like you very much Jack and Jesse as you sound a lot like me and Jack, you even look a little bit like me. Merry Christmas, Jack and Jesse from Duchess.
Oh what happened to that little ball of fluff you introduced us to as the new man in your life ? hasnt he grown into a lovely dog , when he lay still on that hill it reminded me of the programme 'one man and his dog'how delightful to watch the video ,and pause from all the hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations ...love Jan xx
Awwww, they are lovely dogs.I would love one like yours.Love your graphics Jeannette, especially the one of you as Mrs Santa Claus. A very glam one too!!
Aw, your boys are adorable. You can tell Jack is a frisky young pup. LOL...Jesse just walks around and Jack is always chasing him. We adopted our Grizzly from friends whose male dog had impregnated a female down the street. The pups were ready to go to the shelter. Our kitty, Mocha, and her brother, who is with my oldest daughter were strays we picked up at the vets. Becky volunteers an enormous amount of time at a local animal shelter. I also help her with fundraising. We are huge animal lovers. So, Jeannette, my mixed lab, Grizzly woofs back a Merry Christmas to you, Mike, your family, and the boys. Love xx Chris

They are both so gorgeous Jeannette,
Jack has grown into a very handsome dog and his face tells me that he is very friendy. I`ve always thought Jesse was a sweetheart with those wonderful ears of his and the serious expression. I`m so glad they bring you both so much pleasure. By the way Jake says Woof to them both. :o)
