Christmas Lights

I see from your comments yesterday that most of you agreed with my rant.  There were those that said custom and tradition is still strong in their areas, I am glad of that. However, do not be complacent, it is an ever spreading menace.  Things are changing.

Nathan's concert went well yesterday and Daniel is having his on Thursday.  You should hear that boy bellow a song, he certainly has a loud voice.

Now for some Christmas lights.  The first picture is of our outside lights.  We are limited on what we can do on a small bungalow but they are adequate and look much better in real life than they do on a photo.  The other photos are of our visit from Santa (collecting for charity) and some of our neighbours' lights.  They can do more because they live in houses.  Lots of mixed types of properties around here.

We have not yet got around to taking photos of our inside decorations, hope to do that in the next couple of days. Some of the old favourite things come out but we do try to vary a little from year to year.

All our Christmas cards have been sent. There are only the ones to neighbours to hand deliver. We shall get the presents wrapped soon so that we can sit back and relax a little. Always used to leave everything to the last minute but now we are older we prefer to get it all done.

The only present left to buy is a new collar for - well I cannot call him little Leo because he is getting very big.  We already have stockings for Jesse and Jack and Leo.  Leo recently presented us with his fourteenth mouse.  Strange thing is he does not kill them.  He carries them in, lets them go in the hall and then runs after them, round and round.  Mike has managed to catch and release all but one.  Alas, that one died, probably of fright because there was not a mark on it.  Let us hope the other thirteen are not all the same mouse that keeps getting caught again and again.  Leo should have been a ship's cat!

Hope you enjoyed the photos.  Now for a nice cup of tea.

Love,

Thank you for the SMILE today, I can just picture Leo going round with the mouse.  My own cat never gets out, but the neighbor's cats are always leaving us little gifts on the back step...mice.  Some say that is a little gift for those they like.
I do not need that for sure.  I love the Christmas lights brightening up the dark nights.  I'll look forward to seeing you indoor decorations.  'On Ya' - ma

Your photos are lovely, I have been Christmas shopping today (again), so I am nearly there now.  It is a good job Leo doesn't live with me, I am frightened of mice!  Eileenx

I love the lights outside, although we don't do any, some of the neighbors do.  So glad you get to go to the programs for the grandsons, it's such a special feeling to watch these little ones perform.  Look forward to seeing your inside decorations, don't have mine up yet.  Joni

What wonderful lights there are in your area Jeannette.
How lovely the boys were singing christmas concert at their school.  Making memories for their parents to look back on.
He is becoming a veritable little mouse catcher is your Leo.   Lol!
Stay well

What beautiful lights.  Mine still aren't up & I'm not climbing up on a ladder to do it...so guess since there are no volunteers...I won't have any this year.   Oh well. Several of the mobile homes here in the park are really decorated, other are not.   What a boy that Leo is...Since Gabi is strictly an indoor cat, she wouldn't know what to do with a mouse. She doesn't even play with her toys.   Happy Tuesday....Linda in Washington state

Very cheerful, Jeannette. Leo will start to kill the mice at some stage (I hope).

I love the lights of Christmas, for some reason this year there are fewer and fewer people doing this I hope this doesn't phase out too. Love your photos...love, Sandi

Lovely photo's Jeanette,  Not many decorations around here in the village, One lovely one where the man has a train  ( a real old train) in the garden and he always decorates it, so I will go up and take a photo or two one night when it is a bit warmer !! it's freezing here tonight, Mary has gone to church to an alternative type service we hold once a month..I have told her to wrap up well.  I don't go as I can't usually park !   Take care  Love Sybil xx

Love the pictures!  But what's the difference between a house and bungalow?  I always thought a bungalow WAS a house...

Lovely Photos Jeannette!
How lucky that the mice don't get further than the hallway!  My youngest cat is a prolific 'mouse' catcher, actually, he has only ever brought in one mouse, it was so distinct from the voles and other furry creatures.  It really did remind me of Micky Mouse!  If they are alive I do my best to catch them and let them go, but many are dead are die in their hiding place until I accidently find them - arghhhh!  Now I lock him either in or out at night and that seems to have solved the problem. :-)
Have a lovely Christmas!
love Freda

I got a kick out of Leo, what a great mouser he is!!!  I am afraid my cats do not want anything to with mice and I have quite a family of them living in my garage as we speak.  When my boys go out they just look and walk away.  The decorations are so pretty....they add such a magic to Christmas.
