I just had to pop on and thank you for all your good wishes, they mean so much to me.
I was feeling very down yesterday as you could probably tell and needed to let it out. Today, my throat and ears feel much better but I have the inevitable stomach upset caused by the antibiotics. It never fails. Always on day three I feel nauseus and my stomach feels raw plus other things and it lasts from then until I finish taking them. I do not know which is worse, the illness or the cure! Still now I am on the course, I must finish it.
I am afraid I will not be sending cards overseas this year. It is now just too costly as we are charged for size as well as weight even on Christmas cards. I shall also not be picking up Christmas cards from the Post Office sorting office if we are notified they are holding one or several there for us. If the incorrect postage is put on cards now, the recipient of the card is informed there is a card to be picked up. Then you are not only charged for the incorrect postage money but also have to pay a £1 fine to get your card. Scandalous. No way Jose!
Last year it cost me £40 (around $80 then) to send cards to my U.S. friends. I also have about sixty people here in the UK that I have to send to. The budget will just not allow. I am very sorry I have had to make this decision but a piece of elastic will only stretch so far.
I will put up a Christmas message for you all on Christmas Eve.
I do hope that you all understand. It does not mean I do not care because I consider you all my dear friends. Your love and support mean so much to me. Once again thank you for your good wishes.

I remember how anitbiotics use to make me sick too. Im glad your threat and ears are much better
LOOKS LIKE the postal services would give a break on the holidays. man that is expensive I dont blame you for not sending or recieving cards. heck we do have the net.
Jeannette. . people will understand this. . .its crazy to spend money that you havent got.I am sending e-cards. . .there are some beautiful ones on the internet.
I am on antibiotics too ,feel better but hate the stomach upset they cause.
I don't blame you one bit about the Christmas cards Jeanette. I used to have the upset stomach when I took antibiotics until I asked the pharmacist at our drug store what to do about it. He had me get somehting called BD Lactinex that you have to ask him for behind his counter. He said antibiotics takes the good bacteria as well as the bad bacteria out of your tummy. Just strips it all out. This medicine replaces the good and the tummy quits hurting and you also quit making bathroom trips. I have started using it everytime I have to take antibiotics and it helps a lot. You keep it in the fridge. The instructions say take 3 or four times a day but I only take half a dose at a time as is recommended and it stops all that. I don't know if you all have such a thing over there but it would not hurt to ask. It does say if you are allergic to milk products to not use it. Hugs, Helen
I wonder if the Post office realise they are playing such a big part in killing off Christmas cheer ,pleased to her you are feeling better ,sorry the antibiotics make you feel ill again ,you cant win can you ? ...love Jan xx
Hi Jeanette. so glad you are feeling a little better to-day. Hope you will be feeling a LOT Better before christmas. I to have had to cut down on my overseas Christmas cards because of the cost. It is getting too expensive and we do have e-cards now. Take care Kathie.
My doctor always told me to eat natural yougurt daily with acidophilus in it when I had to take antibiotics. That's the natural bacteria used in yougurts. You can also buy acidophilus from Health Food shops to replace the natural 'fauna' which your gut needs to help with your digestion otherwise you get diarrhoea. If you don't like yougurt.
As for Christmas cards....? My sister never sends them preferring to give the money to charity instead. Good friends wont mind your not being able to send a card Jeannette. It is very costly now and I think the GPO are cutting their own throat by making extrtionate charges like that. I had £1.00 to pay because the card sent to me had not paid an extra 2pence. How was that???? Makes you mad...doesn't it?
Glad your feeling a bit better today.
Love

It does sound like you are on the mend. Remember to drink plenty of liquids along with your meds. I always thnk we must flush out the bad stuff. We had a hike on the postage a few years back that made me want to forget about mailing out the cards, but I persevered and still send them...though it is nothing compared to yours. With our journals we are able to keep in touch like we'd never dreamed of and I will look forward to your Christmas Greetings on line. Rising costs of everything often change what we'd like to do, but can't. 'On Ya' - ma
(((((((((((jeannette))))))) glad to hear you are somewhat feeling better. It's ok about the cards. We all understand how financially difficult it can be at times. You gotta do what is best for you. Do you have to pay extra postage if we send a card. Our postage stamps are 41 cents, so if we put a stamp on it at 41 cents do you have to pay more to pick it up? If so that is not right at all. Darn post office fee's are high enough as it is. I hope your upset stomach feels better soon. ((((((hugs))))))
Love ya,
Cindy xoxxoo
Wow that's a lot of $$ for Xmas cards! Save your money and spend it on your lovely grandsons for Xmas.
Glad you are feeling better. I know about the GI upset from antiobiotics....I just went through all of that. UGH! Take care...drink lots of fluids.
Pam
Postage must be very expensive over there. I was wondering, with all the talk over here in the states over gas prices, what are you gas prices like? Hope you continue to feel better.
Missie
I made that decision a few years ago Jeannette... like you the budget only stretches so far. It doesn't mean you don't care.. we know that. No worries my friend.. don't worry your head..
hugs and continue to feel better

Jeanette, with the advent of the internet I stopped sending cards the "slow" way. There are free online card places that you can treat friends to...so don't worry about the darn post office. They are charging way too much over here too, I have an Ebay store and you would cringe at what I have to spend on postage to get my items out. Feel better dear...love, Sandi
(((((((((((((((JEANNETTE)))))))))))))))))))))))I am glad your healing even thoe its slow healing.I udnerstand with the Christmas cards.Have a nice day.
I totally agree with you Jeannette, it`s so expensive to send mail abroad these days. Last year I couldn`t believe what it cost me to send my Christmas cards abroad as well as the inland which cost enough as it was. It`s just a money-grabbing scheme of Royal Mail`s to penalise the reciever of under-charged cards. I also won`t be collecting any either. I`ve always had the problem with antibiotics that they mnake me feel queasy, luckily it usually settles down after 24 hrs. I hope at least that they make you better after upsetting your stomach. Take care. :o)
Love Sandra xxxx
Glad to hear you are feeling a little better ,hope you continue to do so.Think the post office etc will lose a lot this year with all the changes, take care of yourself ...love Jeanx
Glad you are on the mend, the antibiotics are icky to take but they do the job. You'll be feeling much better by tomorrow. Postage is very high here also, but I have not sent cards for many years and want to this year, as I have the time since I'm not working. But I totally understand your situaion, everything is going up very fast. Joni
Jeannette sounds like you're on the mend. It's too bad the doctor can't recomend something for your stomach when you have to take antibiotics. I have another issue that comes along with taking antibiotics and I always have to get medication for that. Hope you're feeling 100% soon. Linda in frosty Washington state
Not to worry, hon. We all know how difficult it is to stretch money, especially during the holidays. You just focus on getting better. I'll be praying for you.
Hugs, love, and always, my prayers.

Oh Jeanette... you can rant and rave anytime! I relate! And, I am glad you are improving! I hope that your stomach settles... I used to take one immodium pill a day (an anti diarrhea over the counter med) when I take antibiotics...it usually keeps it at bay. Maybe you can take something similar? {{ hugs and love }}
be well,
Dawn
Hope you feel better soon.
I'll not be sending cards either, just can't afford it. Last year when I played the postcard game, I found out how expensive it was!!!

I am so glad that you are feeling a bitty better. Roll on end of week when hopefully you will be back to normal...The posting of cards is always a worry I know. I have to start way back in September and buy so many each week when I collect the pension...but I amgoing to chance posting without added postage and fingers crossed all will be well....hope thought that friends won't retrive them if they are not delivered !!!!! and that post returns them to me !! Many of my overseas friends will be getting E Cards...I hope .... lots of love Sybil xx
Jeanette, I'm sure everyone understands about the holiday card situation, it's costly all over the world anymore. Hope you have a better today dear, take it easy, relax, have a hot cup of tea, prop of your feet and enjoy a good book....oh gee that is what I'm planning on doing today for myself, lol. Arlene (AJ)
Jeannette of course we understand ~ the Post Office is pricing itself out of business ~ hope you get to feeling better ~ I sometimes wonder which is worse the illness or the cure ~ Ally x
I completely understand about the cost to send cards, crazy isn't it. That fine is ridiculous! Linda
Don't you fret a moment over the cards. I understand. We had to cut it out years ago.....too much $$$. - Barbara
I'm glad you are feeling better.
Lori
Thanks for the reminder about the size of cards Jeannette! I was so embarrassed to learn that my son had to pay to get his birthday card this year because I had just put on a first class stamp without thinking about the size of the card!
I do understand your thinking.
Hope you continue to improve and are able to have a lovely Christmas
best wishes
Freda

Jeanette,
Sorry that I'm seeing this post so late. I did mail off a card to you. Please, please don't even think twice about going and picking it up. I'm fairly certain that I wrote the address out correctly, just like you showed me two Christmas' ago, but you never know! It could be WRONG and I would feel very, very badly if it cost you one red cent, especially you being ill.
I am so SORRY that I sent the card and I'm praying that nothing happens because of it.
HUGS,
Gayla
I do not blame you Jeannette the cost of postage has become ridiculous, what makes it even worse is the service. Bring back the old days and the older postmen/women who knew how to do their job properly.
Hugs Jayne
I cant believ how costly the royal mail have got for such a shoddy service, my mail turns up half ripped, opened on occasions or even with somebody elses name and address on, so I dont even want to think who gets mine, i still get my important stuff posted to my parents address, which means i have to try to get there at least once evry two weeks to catch up on my mail! Beckie x
So glad to read you are feeling better....I always worry when you feel sick or down. Many hugs and tons of love from across the big ocean...
Joyce
