I chose this graphic today because it reminds me that winter does not last forever and soon the blooms will burst forth again.
I am glad you all liked the photo of my crystal flowers that I posted yesterday. They now have pride of place on top of our television.
It seems as though Christmas is already a distant memory. However, we are still getting Christmas cards arriving in the post and I would like to thank Gayla for hers. Out of the blue I had one from a friend I knew on the computer several years ago and lost touch with. Naturally, I had not sent one to him and his wife as I never expected to hear from them again. Feel quite bad about that but I will be dropping him a line.
I was sad to read today of another young child killed by a dog. Apparently a seven year old girl was carrying a one year old boy in her arms and took him out into the yard of her Grandparents' house to pat their Rottweiler. Nobody can know what truly happened but the dog sprang at her and snatched the little boy and mauled him. He died of his injuries later in the day. The dog was destroyed. Whether the animal was a guard dog or not I simply do not know but I wish that people would understand that young children should never be left alone with dogs. Any breed can turn, the wild is never completely bred out of canines.
I have let many of you know by e-mail about a new journal that was started by Sunny (blazensun) in memory of all those we have lost in J-Land. For those of you not on my e-mail list I am going to post the link here. It is an open journal, any of us can post on it, add our own little memories or thoughts, it is also for J-Land members who have lost family, they can be added as well. It was a lovely idea, thank you Sunny. I hope that if any of you know of any departed journaller who has been overlooked you will add them to this memorial. Here is the link
Well, that is about all from me. I am going to cosy up with my book, a ghost story I am reading that I got for Christmas. We had torrential rain last night but now it has subsided into just strong winds and is very chilly.
Wishing you all, dear friends and readers, a good weekend.
Love,

I usually take down Christmas decorations on the day of the Epiphany, January 6th. Thanks for mentioning Sunny's journal. It is very tragic about the baby's death, Jeannette, but as someone mentioned in a comment to this story on my journal, you always have to be careful with a dog around young children.
Enjoy your book.
Guido
You are so right, any breed of dog can turn and for reasons some we'll never know. Such a shame.......

I love your graphic and the thought today that winter doesn't last forever and we'll soon be seeing those blooms again. I'm still working at my cleaning up here slowly but surely. I just do a little at a time. I do light lots of candles all winter long and their glow puts some warmth and often a good fragrance too back into my home. My kitchen is the only room light enough for plants and I have several green ones in there. If I could I'd have more all around the house. Take care, keep warm and enjoy your book. 'On Ya' - ma
iThat s such a lovely picture! Thanks for sharing it.
I just cannot understand people with the recent news this year about dogs attacking children you think they would be more careful. I'm going to curl up with my book later your right it's very chilly.
Enjoy the rest oif your Saturday
Love Yasmin

I too don't take down my tree until 6th Jan, tradition passed down to me by my mom. I've think I have said enough about the dog attack. it just makes me so angry.
I think it's a wonderful idea to start the J-Land Angels journal. I didn't know many that have passed, but I loved reading the tributes. They were all obviously well loved.
We too have had the lashing rain yesterday, and although it was sunny today it was very cold.
Have a great Sunday tomorrow.

I always wait until after my birthday to take the Christmas things down. And I may leave the silk poinsettias out even longer, since if they were real ones, they'd be out until the leaves started falling off. Now we have the long dreary month of January to get thru...then hopefully we'll start to see the tops of the daffodils starting to peak thru the ground. I'm starting a new book too. One that I bought myself but was just released on December 26th. Have a wonderful Saturday evening, Linda in Washington state
Ithink the adults that do not care properly for children should also be put down!!!!!!!! I would never let a 7 yer old take a child that young into the yard alone!!!!!!
Oh great I hope that means you will have the hair on the back of my neck standing up ,when you retell the story you are reading ,to us, as you do so well ..love Jan xx
Hi Jeanette, Hope you can drag yourself away from your new book long enough to read our comments lol....i too had a three new books at Christmas, and eventually I will get round to reading them, I never seem to have time on my own...Mary is always here !! she goes home around 6pm. but then it's 'puter time !! wish I coudl read in bed then I could get tghrough all the books I want to....never mind the day will come when I do all I would like. My decorations stay up till my Sister and Brother on law come and take them down and as that is when they come for New Years Day dinner with me it is often after that...if they are in the mood !! then the rooms looks so dull for a week or two till my birthday cards start coming in !! Love for tonight Sybil xxx
That's absolutely horrific about those children. So very sad. I agree with you that no child should ever be left alone with any dog. I am and always will be an animal lover, but common sense prevails every time. I hope you have a great night reading your book, I am all cosied up in jammies having a very quiet saturday night. xx
What a nice journal idea... Enjoy your Saturday...
be well,
Dawn

I LOVE that graphic!! Can I snag it?
So sad about the baby being killed by that dog. I cannot imagine the trama that little girl will suffer, too. Awful.
Stay warm today and enjoy your book.
Pam
Hello Jeannette,
I had a look at the new journal and have put it on alert. I think the idea is lovely and very thoughtful on Sunny`s part. I was shocked to hear about the death of that baby by a dog, yet again. How many more times will this happen unless people take more care with young children and dogs. I felt sick when I heard it on the news, what must that little one have suffered.
Love Sandra xxxx
Went over to visit this is nice to remember the angels we have lost.
bella xx
That is a beautiful graphic!
Enjoy your book and have a lovely day!
Linda :)
You always have such pretty graphics. Hope the sun breaks through for you in a short time. Thank you for letting me know about the memorial journal, I appreciate it very much...love, Sandi
(((((((((((((JEANNETTE))))))))))))))))I love that graffic, its so beatiful. That is so sad another child gone because of the dog.We had a Rotweller also, but it was never left unatended and it was the sweetest dog ever. But He is in Dog heave now.Have a nice weekend.
I love your graphics Jeannette, especially the first one Ü. How terribly sad about yet another dog attack *sigh.* That precious little boy! I cannot even imagine what the parents OR that little girl must be going through.
I agree 100% with you though~no child should ever be left alone with a dog! I have three in house furbabies...an English Springer Spaniel a German Shepherd and a Chihuahua and though they love all over you I would never take the chance of leaving them alone with any child.
God bless those precious parents, that little girl and her grand parents. Things will never be the same with their baby boy gone.
HUGS~Donna
Christmas does seem like it was quite a long time ago. I was thinking about that myself today. Cuddling up with a good book sounds like just the thing to do. I love your graphic...I can't wait to see flowers again.
Lisa

Love ya,
Cindy oxoxo
you cant domesticate any animal its its calling to be wild.
I read that about the boy being killed by the dog and it just makes me so sick to my stomach to think about that. That poor little boy. I do love that grahpic you used.
Very sad about the child. I hate reading such stories.
Beautiful picture, I'm ready for spring to arrive.
Monica
I'm getting caught up here! I've been away for a couple days. Sarah has diabetes, type 1. It was very shocking to find out. How are the boys doing? I like their Christmas photo. Love, Linda
