Winderflowers ~ Waterhouse
They are forecasting strong winds although we have not experienced any yet. I think Scotland and the North are affected the most. I personally do not like high winds since the hurricane of 1987 when a very heavy wooden door was ripped off its hinges and pinned me to the ground. I was totally alone and how I found the strength to get out from under it, I do not know. Ever since then, strong winds have made me uneasy. I like reading poetry about the wind though and here are two of my favourites:-
Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang trembling
The wind is passing thro'
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads
The wind is passing by.
~Christina Rossetti
********************************************
There is a solemn wind to-night
That sings of solemn rain;
The trees that have been quiet so long
Flutter and start again.
The slender trees, the heavy trees,
The fruit trees laden and proud,
Lift up their branches to the wind
That cries to them so loud.
The little bushes and the plants
Bow to the solemn sound,
And every tiniest blade of grass
Shakes on the quiet ground.
~ Katherine Mansfield
Nothing much else to write about, all very quiet on the home front.

Oh My! What a beautiful painting Jeannette. Waterhouse paintings are so beautiful. I would have to say he is high up on the list of favorite painters for me. I hope the wind is not too bad there. Lovely poems! God Bless You My Friend
What a frightening experience you had Jeannette, lets hope it doesn`t get too windy. Smashing poems and the painting is lovely Sandra x
Beautiful, windy entry. Sounds like you had a pretty bad experience but still ... there is something very soothing about the winds unrest. Well, at least to me, I love a windy day.

Lovely painting :o)
That must have been such a scary experience Jeannette. It is quite windy here, though nothing extreme thankfully. Time to wrap up warm and pick Jason up from school, brrr!

I hate the wind too. Love gentle breezes but there is a HUGE difference between the two, isn't there? Lovely poems. Enjoyed reading them. Hope your day is a wonderful one. *Barb*
Scary door experience! I wouldn't like the wind if that happened to me, either! I like to watch the power of the wind bending trees, but only when I am safe from it! Nice painting...JAE
I loved the poetry and the picture is just gorgeous! I love the beautiful lady there!! The weather is not so great here either..an ice storm and windy as well! Love you!! xox
A beautiful painting and poetry as well, I am being spoilt today. As for the wind, it scares me too. Lost the house roof one night, about 30 years ago, in an October storm and kids rabbit hutch was crushed under a big old elm tree. Only lost a few garden fences, greenhouse and the odd roof tile since!

Oh my goodness about the door!! They have forecasted wind and rain for the last few days but have had nothing - yet!! Great poems!
Enjoyed your entry Jeannette, Waterhouse did gorgeous paintings, loving this one. Good choice of poems, Christina Rossetti puts things beautifully simple. xxR
Love the poems and the painting! xxx :0)

lovely picture and poem, thanks for sharing, Julie xxxx
Very beautiful poems! The graphics fit perfectly and is just as beautiful. The winds here can get very frightening too. God was watching over you in '87 and giving the strength you needed to stay strong and think clearly. Glad your still here to tell about my friend ;-)
HUgs & blessings,
~Angel
