Well, that is Christmas over for another year and I cannot say I am sorry. It has not been a particularly good holiday for us. Christmas Day as you know it was mostly just Mike and myself. I made everything as sugar-free as possible but because I am not used to any rich foods these days, the Christmas dinner upset me. Well, I suppose it was obvious but you have to have a little treat now and again.
Yesterday, Boxing Day, Mike lost his keys. He has no idea where. The house keys, the car keys. He had been out twice, once to get some milk and the second time to walk the dogs. He retraced his steps around both places and enquired in the shop. Nothing. So, we spent the whole of the day searching the house from top to bottom as he could not remember whether he had taken them with him or not. Furniture was moved as him indoors crawled around with a torch. I searched every drawer, under cushions, we turned out the kitchen bin, we turned out the large bag of used wrapping paper. Nothing. For hours we searched. We eventually phoned the police to see if anyone had handed them in. They treated Mike like a time waster and said they were not interested in lost keys. Well, they should be. If someone has picked them up who recognises Mike and knows where we live, we could find ourselves burgled. Mike could not relax at all and even late in the evening kept getting up to check places he had already checked. My back had improved somewhat but by the time I had done all the bending and stretching it really set it off again.
There is still no trace of the keys. So Mike cannot set the alarm on the car either as, for some reason, the spare set are not programmed. As today is still a holiday, he will have to phone the car manufacturers tomorrow and see if they can help him programme them in and then ask if they can supply another spare set.
This may seem like a little thing in the scale of things but it totally ruined our day.
However, I kept my word and we did drink a toast to you all on Christmas Day with our dinner.
We had some snow this morning. At onetime it came down quite heavily but not enough to fully cover the grass or the rooftops. Now it has almost melted.
The family were due over today but Becky has gone down with a bad cold so Mike and I could be going into the new year with that, let us hope not.
This has been our second bad Christmas in a row. Hopefully, 2006 Christmas will be third time lucky!
We did managed to get a nice picture of us and the boys which I shall post on my next entry and I had some lovely presents, the best one from Mike who gave me a beautiful gold locket along with several other things. He knew I always wanted one and I have a lovely photo of the boys which I can put inside.
Well, now I am away to go key hunting yet again and later I will try and catch up with all the e-mails.

Boxing Day has been a bit bad for many, we had a relatively nice day. The keys will probably turn up where you least expect them!! The snow is still quite thick here.
Losing something important is so very stressful. I hope you find the keys or can get a good replacement. Have a happy New Year, Love, Linda
Jeannette Mike didnt leave the keys in the car did he.....thats normally where I find mine when they go missing...I hate misplacing things and thought the police would have been interested...as the house keys are on the keyring...sorry it upset your day...and hope they turn up somewhere....Ally
Last time I lost my keys Jeannette, they had slid under the car seat. Check it out. Ron and I had a mainly lonely and sugar-free Christmas too; and yesterday (Boxing Day) I held my collie in my arms for the last time, as the vet put her to sleep. Very sad. I'm hoping for a brighter New Year and a party here on New Year's Day (snow permitting). Take care my friend.

Good morning from Virginia Jeannette,
I can relate all too well to losing keys, almost daily I place mine down too and cannot keep track of them, yep got everything on mine too. Poor Mike, I do hope he finds them soon. I cannot stand that feeling! I do hope your back gets better soon and also Becky's cold gets better too. We had wind and rain here Christmas Day...they predict we will get a lot more snow in Jan. and Feb. I am ready for it! Looking forward to seeing the photo of the boys...I know it is going to be adorable! You have a great Tuesday...enjoy! Hugs,
Joyce
Those darn keys can be such a bother. You're the second person I know of that's had a key problem for Christmas. I hope they turn up soon. All was not so bad for you though as you had your hubby and family to celebrate with . I'll be looking forward to the pictures. Take good care, I'll be saying a prayer for you all. 'On Ya' - ma
Like you Im pleased its all over Jeannette ,sorry you didnt feel very well after your lunch ,dont get the cold !!let Becky keep it, lol .Hope you find the keys,,it is so infuriating to lose stuff like that ............Jan xx
I hope your keys turn up safe. That's really bad that the police weren't interested. I would get the house locks changed as soon as possible if I were you. I hope 2006 will be better for you all. Jeannette.
I hate losing keys...I now keep mine seperate on different keyrings because am always putting them down somewhere then forgetting where...It's ridiculous the police weren't interested as they could be used to steal the car and break into your house with...Do hope you don't get Beckys cold...The locket sounds lovely, especially with photos of the boys in it...Hope you do find the keys if not phone the police again you may get someone more helpful this time Caff xxx
Oh, I'm sorry you had troubles on your holiday! Hopefully this will be one you can laugh over in a few years. Take care. - Barbara
Sorry to hear about the keys Jeannette. Is there any chance that your little grandson could have got hold of them and put them somewhere? That happened to a friend of mine, her little boy had put them in her friend's bag and they weren't found until the following week!
I do hope Becky is feeling better and that you and Mike don't get the cold of course. My eldest daughter couldn't join us for the family get-together yesteerday because of the flu, luckily her husband came with their twins so we were able to see them at least, the only thing is, he left some of their presents behind!
Sorry about your keys coming up missing. I know that is aggravating. Hope you find them soon. Thats to bad about Becky coming down with a cold. Hope none of the rest of the family doesn't come down with it too. Helen
What are you moaning about?---''only Mike and yourself '' think yourself lucky that you have somebody to share your day with-- plenty didn't.
You sound a real old moaner, wait till you really have something to moan about.
Dennis
I hope the keys show up, and the nasty cold doesn't!!! JAE
I hope y'all can find the keys! Check in the owner's manual of the car and see if you can program the key fob on your own, I know my manual has the directions. I'm sorry your holiday was not more enjoyable.

Hi Jeanette...sorry Xmas wasn't so good for you and Mile this year. Amazed at the response you got from the Police re your lost keys!! A couple of years ago my American cousin lost hers whilst shopping in Stonehaven town and hunted everywhere for them checking in as a last resort with the local bobbies..and they had them!!!! Some kind soul had found them in the street and handed them in.
Hope it ends well for you too.
Eve
Hi Jeannette, I really hope that the keys turn up for you and Mike. You could certainly do without the worry of it. Who on earth is that horrible person who left that rude comment? I hope you block them!
hugs

How annoying is it when you lose something like that!! Annoying and frustrating when you can't find it anywhere. Hope Mike's keys turn up eventually, though by the sounds of it they are well and truly lost :o(
Christmas isn't always what you expect or want it to be, I hope that next year is better for you.

Oh no! It IS upsetting to lose the keys! They are so important-let us know if and when you find them; gee, I never lock my car, it's always parked in the drive way tho-locket's are so nice, I have a silver one where I placed my son on one side and my hubby on the other; thanx for explaing Boxing day to me Jeannette! I find it intersesting, your customs are so different to ours. ~Diane~
Keys, I hate keys. I was working for an embassy family in Austria and I lost my keys. Over there though they have a policy or a rule of thumb that if you find something and return it the owner will give you a good reward. The keys were found by a nice taxi driver and all was well but I only know what you are going through I spent the night searching Vienesse trams and u-bahns in hope that I may have found them!!!!!
Good luck much love

I can see how upsetting the loss of the keys is. My Christmas was myself and my dog, lol ! The two nice cards that I got from the UK were special, and I appreciate them. The fact that you thought enough of me to send it, makes me feel good. I dwelled on the meaning of Christmas. Watching the groups of young people on TV singing carols, makes the occasion hopeful, in a world that needs hope. Now this season comes to an end, as I realize how precious the amount of time I have in this life is. This has been my first year getting to know people through their journals. I never anticipated that something like this would be on the Internet. Well, I wish you and Mike a great New Year! mark
Try Jesus. I don't know if you know him. He is the best person to bring calm to a troubled soul. pls i am not talking about church but a personal relationship with the saviour of the world. I found that out 17yrs ago when my whole world caved in. He has never let me down since.
God bless
Ola
Hello Jean
I stumbled across your journal and am fascinated about your missing xmas decorations in the loft and your lost crystal ornaments for this year.
Do you think Mike's keys have gone to the same triangle????
I think you have a playful ghost in the house. Isnt that just all you need for 2006?
Happy Hunting I do hope they turn up
Warm regards
Joanna
