Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. No, the keys are not in the car which has not been used since Christmas Eve and Mike had them long after that. No, our little Nathan could not have picked them up and hidden them. He was in our sight all the time and anyway, Mike had them late that night many hours after they had left. They are nowhere in the house and garden. It does seem they have been lost in the street. Maybe someone will hand them in to the places that know we have lost them.
In the meantime, tomorrow we will see about changing the locks on the house.
We are grateful for your tips though.

My grand daughter took my purse out of my bag and put it in her nappy bag when she visited years ago. Her dad found it when they got home, about twenty miles away!! I hope your keys turn up, it's such a worry. Jeannette.
Jeannette what a worry - and now having to think about changing your locks....lets hope they turn up before that is necessary......Ally
I've found my keys in the freezer before now!!! Could they have been amongst the pressy rubbish that you have thrown out, or as in Robs case in a pair of trousers he swore blind they were not in!! Love Joan
Sorry about the keys Jeannette, have u looked in the wrapping paper from presents I've gathered things up that I shouldn't have before now by accident and had to route in the bin. I hope you find them. My sis has a sleigh bell on hers, it works very good when you drop them. I'm hoping you don't get a cold too and I know what you mean about rich food.
Hope those keys turn up it's a worry. Rache xx
Hello Jeannette :0
My name is Jean too
I have been reading your blog for a few weeks now and find it very interesting and was concerned about the missing keys. I was wondering did hubby wear a different pair of trousers (in the wash?) before the keys went awol? Or a different coat?
Just a thought
Very best wishes
Jean
Sorry to hear about 'the keys' hope they turn up!
Funny little story - may make you 'smile' I lost a Purse on Holiday in UK(some years ago)
It was the month of AUGUST, I notified the Police. got a call following FEBRUARY! It had been left in a ladies toilet, closed for the season, when reopened for cleaning the following Spring, was found intact Money and everything*
Hope things improve soon for you and yours

Hi Jeannette sorry you have had such a bad time. I was going to suggest looking in coat poskets that what Stuart does changes his coat then can't find keys or phone when I tell him what he had on they are usually there. Hope you find them before you get the locks changed. Love Joan
I really hope that they are found Jeannette. Good thing to change the locks though, at least you`ll get a decent night`s sleep free from worry. :o)
