My feelings got the better of me this morning and I did not want my journal to go into the New Year on a downbeat note. You know me, I try and keep my journal positive. No good dwelling on the bad things in your life, that does not help. So I decided to make a second entry with something happier.
The doctors were helpful to a point. They feel my blood sugars have risen due to stress and Christmas food - although I made everything as sugar free as I could, I still indulged in foods I do not normally have - although in the past my sugars have fallen back quickly again after Christmas. This set off my anxiety as I panic when my blood sugar rises. So, they do not want to alter any of my medication at this time. They want me to give it at least seven to day days and if I am still having problems then go and see them.
They were less helpful with the back pain which is awful and has been for some time. They are unwilling to prescribe anti-inflammatory drugs because they make my stomach bleed and they also feel I am on enough medication so they have just told me to stay in a warm bed and take over-the-counter paracetamol and try and relax and not tense against the pain. As if I have not tried that already. However, I do know that stress makes any condition worse, stress finds your weakest spots. I am hoping I can calm down now and relax more and it will improve. If not, I shall be seeing them about my back.
I do feel slightly more positive than I did this morning and a lot of that is due to your good wishes and knowing that there are such lovely people out there who do care about me.
We had a real downfall of snow this morning, thick and heavy although around noon it changed to rain and there is not much left now but I thought the graphic appropriate.
I promised you some pictures of the boys that were taken by a professional. I shall have to get frames for them because they will be taking pride of place on our wall.
First, Nathan, he looks so much older than eighteen months which he was yesterday and is very tall for his age.
Now four month old Daniel
The boys together
This last one is a family photo of Nathan in his winter jumper
Well, dear friends, I am going to try and read and comment on some of your journals now. I will do as many as I can but, please bear with me if I do not get to you all, the pain might just prevent me. Let us hope I will be feeling a lot better in a couple of days with my sugar dropping back towards normal.
Bigs hugs to you all for your lovely wishes which I know you truly mean.

Jeannette just looking at the pictures of the boys must make you feel a whole lot better....they certainly made my day....thanks for sharing them.....You take care....Ally
Thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures.Take care of yourself, and I hope you soon feel better.
Hi Jeanette :)
Marvellous pictures of such happy children, thank you!
I was thinking about your back pain and if you could get hold of some ARNICA gel to put on it, to ease the pain?
I have a back injury I sustained on a wet supermarket floor 9 years ago and rely on painkillers a lot, tens machine, hot wheat bags etc, depending how bad it is.
I find the arnica takes the ache away quite quickly and is a blessed relief when it comes on about 4pm each day.
It doesn't stain or smell horrid and is cooling too.
I got mine from QVC shopping channel, the brand is SBC (simply beautiful cosmetics) and it has been a boon!
Website is QVCUK.com
Get well soon>>>>sooner!
love
Jeanni
Oh Jeannette the boys together, that's a star one. You know you're in thoughts for health. Good to see you. Rache xx
Pleased to hear you are feeling a bit better this afternoon; the pics of the boys are lovely, not long now and I will be putting my own pics on! Love, Joan
I`m glad you can carry on as you are for the time being Jeannette, despite feeling poorly. Let`s hope you feel much better before the seven days are up. Your boys look lovely in these photos. The one of Nathan and Daniel together is really smashing and so natural. Nathan certainly does look older than his age, as I`ve said before, he is quite the young man now! :o)

Your boys are adorable! I do hope you have a wonderful New Year!
Lisa
The boys are beautiful Jeanette and I especially love the one of them together...made me smile back. Take care of yourself, try to relax and keep your back warm as the doc said. Eve
When my back was bad nothing seemed to help it, most painkillers were useless and they only mask the pain so you get around more which in turn can cause further damage to your back. I hope yours will ease soon. The photos are wonderful, especially that one of the boys together, Nathan looks so proud and happy with his little brother! Take care and I hope your blood sugars soon drop, it's not just the sugar in food but the carbohydrate content too which causes it to rise as you probably know. Jeannette.
Precious children...those back spasms are terrible..hope you feel better soon.
So sorry you're having so much back pain. I suffer from it too, so know how horrible it can be. I hope you know you are in my daily prayers, hon. I never forget you. *LOVE the pics.

{{{{jeanette}}}} hope you are back to normal soon...Years ago when i had a bad back it took ages for the docs to send me to hospital for x-rays even though they had me on dihydrocodeine and diazepam...As it was i ended up at a chiropracter via my ex mother in law who pushed 2 bones out of place back to where they should be...Fingers crossed not had any trouble since...Have you tried massage on your back see if it helps at all??? Shame i live so far away as i am trained in it and would have done it for you :o( The pics of the boys are gorgeous 2 very handsome wee smashers there...Best wishes for the new year and here's hoping 2006 is much kinder to you Caff xxx
Glad you have got calmed down some Jeannette, hope those blood sugars settle down soon. I Surely pray that the back pain will ease up soon. Being on your feet more and the stress of the Holidays will make the back pain worse. The photos of the boys are great. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Take care now. Hugs, Helen

Those are marvellous pictures of the boys - the new generation! I do hope your poor old back starts to behave itself better soon, must be such a curse for you - especially when there seems little that can be done to ease the pain. But I'm sure the blood sugar levels will drop back again, once you're back to a normal meal routine. Fingers crossed for you anyway. Just get back to your normal day-to-day routines generally, and any stress should quickly disappear. Thinking of you.
David.
My mother had to constantly deal with her blood sugar so I know how frustrating it can be. Pain is a stress in itself. I hope the back releases a bit. Back pain is so restricting. Take care of yourself. We love and need you here among us. Happy New Year, Pennie
Thats really too bad, Jeannette that your bloog sugar isnt in tip top shape. I have faith that it will get better though in this new year.
Have a great tomorrow. Crack open that bottle of champagne =D
Love and hugs,
Meg
I hope things get better quickly for you...the boys are so cute! Nathan is losing that "baby look" already! Such a big boy! JaE
Hello Jeannette,
Love the photo's of the boys. Nathan looks so grown up, for eighteen months old. They always grow to fast though, don't they? lol. Sorry to hear you are having back problems, and stressed out. Hope you get some rest. and your blood sugar goes down. Take care. ~Deborah
You have such beautiful Grands. Take care of yourself and get better and Happy New Year! Linda
Happy New Year to you and yours ! I'll be praying that you are better soon! Those grandboys of yours are going to make great playmates being so close in age ! They are just beautiful ! Our snow all melted this week, but more is supposed to be on the way this weekend. I do know that stress is what causes a lot of problems and you are right to try to be so positive. 'On Ya' - ma
I just wanted to leave a message to say Happy New Year and I hope you feel better soon. I only came across this community last night (I was bored and was randomly clicking on links on the AOL homepage!) but I am already hooked! Your journal is fantastic! Your grandsons are beautiful and are so lucky to have family like yourself and your husband. Your journal inspired me to start my own and if it's half as good as yours I'll be more than happy!

What gorgeous little angels. I hope you have a happy, prosperous and HEALTHY New Year. Love Joyce. xxxx
The photos of your grandchildren are wonderful. Hope the blood sugars slowly work their way back down. I try to pace myself knowing that back pain is with me constantly. I have been doing sit-up exercises after laying on my board and reading for hours. I worked a small amount on my insulation under my new addition yesterday, but it started raining and I did not want to push myself, so I just went back in and read. I know what you mean about all the friendly well wishes from the journalists. Not feeling alone with one's problem can be a real boost. Somehow we will get through this because of the desire to be positive. Make your New Years Eve a relaxing and enjoyable time. Things are certain to get better. mark
Those are such beautiful photos of your boys, Nathan does look older.
Pleased you are feeling a wee bit better, hope your back pain eases for you .
Happy New Year To you and Mike......... Jeanx

Dear Jeannette, I hope you are doing OK. It's been such a rough time for you in 2005. I hope 2006 will be better. Your grandson's are so adorable. I can't believe how much Daniel has grown! I guess with all that was going on in my life, I totally lost track of time. Please be well. Love, Susan
