Busy, busy

Well, we are certainly having a busy time here.  The desk or work station as it is called, arrived on Tuesday at around 12.45 p.m.  Him indoors started assembling it around fifteen minutes later.  He actually finished at 10 p.m.! Having had more than enough that day he decided to wait until Wednesday to move all his computer stuff.  Masses of storage space, drawers - in fact more room than I have with my computer desk.  Only one problem. The monitor just balances there.  He did not take into account that computers now all come with flat screen monitors and our old one is one of the enormous types.   So he has had to put it one side which means that when he does start using his computer again he will have to sit with his head turned to the left.  Nothing to be done but to save up and get him a flat screen.

Yesterday was the dreaded day that all the decorations came down from the loft.  Boxes and boxes of them.  I decided I had to be ruthless, some of it just had to go, so we went through every box taking out any tarnished tinsel, chipped baubles, lights that did not work, all the things we had somehow hung on to for sentimental reasons.  That took most of the afternoon and early evening.

Today we have started putting up all the decorations.  The outside lights will be switched on for the first time this evening. Most of the living room is done now apart from one or two touches but we still have to do the sunlounge (we look out onto that and that is where our main tree is) the hall and the dining room.  Busy, busy, busy and it takes longer because we are much slower than we used to be.  We did try out the fibre optic tree last night and it looks lovely although it is hard to get used to it in daylight - a tree with no decorations on it.  You really cannot decorate this type of tree because all the fibre optics are at the end of the branches and it would spoil the effect.  We will get used to it but it seems strange this is the first year I have not had to decorate the tree. It does mean less work thought and it is much safer for Nathan and Daniel.

Whilst Mike was up the ladder, I could not resist getting the camera out

Sorry about the strange angle.

Here is our fibre optic snowman who is sitting on the hearth.  The true magic does not really show in this photo but he looks perfect there twinkling away

I should imagine we will get everything finished some time tomorrow.  Now, while he is getting on with the decorations I am going to start writing the Christmas cards, watch the grand switch on of lights when it gets dark, have a meal and then just flop out in front of the t.v.

Hope you have all got started on your preparations.

It looks great Jeannette,  I see you have a silver theme, it does look really pretty, and I love your snowman, he looks very frosty!  I have to agree with you over the decorations, it`ll be the same when we get ours down.  Goodness knows why I keep some of them as there`s bound to be a load of old ones up there.  Time to get ruthless this year I think...lol!  :o)

The desk sounds wonderful, all that space..shame about the monitor being too big.yes you will have to save your pennies so he can have a new Slim Line one...we have yet to get our decorations down, but must do it soon,  Otherwise Christmas will be gone....Love how your room is looking, and  snowman is just so sweet...Flop out in front of the TV sounds a good idea to me...Enjoy..and take care......Ally

Fantastic Jeannette, I love the music :o)
And your house looks so Christmassy with all the decorations, just lovely and well worth all the effort of sorting everything out I imagine.  I have a small fibre optic tree that I'm letting J have in his bedroom this year, they are so pretty aren't they.  Ooh, it's beginning to feel alot like Christmas :o)

Jeannette,
Your decorations look wonderful, and the snowman is so cute. I like the new fibre optic trees, thinking about getting one for Jon's den downstairs. Mike's new work station sounds great, with all that room for storage. LOL! (laughing at the "Bum" comment left my Jan!) Love the new colour scheme, looks very festive at your house...inside and out.     ~Deborah

Hi Jeanette,
Your house looks lovely and I love Hark the Herald angels music!  Feel very christmassy now. We bought our first tree yesterday and put it up last night.. like seeing the lights from the window as no one else has been this early on our street! I'm glad the desk arrived, Mike did a good job.

Well glad to here the desk arrived, sorry about the space for the monitor.  Love that graphic, but I didn't hear any music even when I linked to the post to see it that would help.  Oh well, I can always pretend can't I.  I saw some cut Christmas trees at Publix a grocery store we have here and I went over and the fragrance was so wonderful, think I'll get a cut tree again this year.  I want to be able to put decorations on my tree.  I bet it's getting to feel a lot like Christmas over there.
Keep up the good work gal.

Blessings to you,  Marlene-PurelyPoetry

I'm soooo behind you in the decorations and present wrapping, I'll probably never catch up.  You all certainly have been busy.  I like your music!  That's another thing I'll have to take the time to learn how to do - some day !  Only 24 days and we'll be ready, or not!  ***BIG SMILE***  'On Ya' - ma
