GOODBYE PIP

In loving memory of our "Pip".  30th July 1995 - 5th January 2006.

I named him Pip because I had great expectations of him. He lived up to all of them and surpassed them. A gentle giant that had not one ounce of badness in him. A loyal and loving companion, gentle and trustworthy. A friend to all other humans and animals. Beautiful both outside and inside. His life only lasted for ten and a half years but Mike and I would rather have had those ten and a half years with him than without him.

He took his last walk this morning with Mike and it was apparent that the time had come. Mike had to take him for that last short ride and we knew he would never be returning to our home. Mike held him as he fell asleep forever and says that Pip looked into his eyes until the last as if to say "thank you."

No, Pip, we thank you. We thank you for the love and the laughter. We thank you for your intelligence and your loyalty. We thank you for being part of our lives. Rest in peace our beloved friend and companion, our big fluffy bunny, our prince. You truly were a prince among dogs, the finest there could ever have been. It was a privilege and an honour to know you.

Our hearts are broken , our eyes are swollen from crying, Jesse is looking for you and the house seems so empty without your magnificent presence. Time will pass, tears will dry, but we will never ever forget you. Sleep in peace dearest Pip, sleep in peace.

It's so sad to lose these friends of ours.  I had a 'Pip' once too.  She was just 1 lb dripping wet and full of joy.  Thank you for sharing this lovely tribute to your faithful friend.  I'm praying for you and Mike today.  Blessings, Penny http://journals.aol.com/firestormkids04/FromHeretoThere

Jeanette, I am so sorry to hear of Pip's demise.  I know how it is to lose a dear pet  and what a handsome chap he was. I lost a Basset Hound at the same age and he was such a big dear, it leaves a big hole in your life. Thinking of you and Mike.   Pam.

Thinking of you, Jeanette.   After I'd held our first long-haired dachshund as the vet put her to sleep I could hardly drive home for the tears.   It's always really painful to lose a pet who has become a member of the family.   Best wishes, Neenie

Jeannette, I really feel for you. As you already know, I lost my Maddy on Boxing Day. 15 wonderful years I had with her, another gentle collie, with so much love in her heart. This house is empty still and your news had made me cry yet again. Tears for Maddy and tears for you. Take care my friend.

Oh Jeannette, what a sad but lovely entry. You must be distraught at losing Pip. I read your words and I am crying for you as I write. I treasure the days we are having with Sam as he will be 9 in April, so he is getting near 'that age'. I send my love and fondest wishes to you both and will be thinking of you. Much love, Joan

My sympathys are with you both,  it's so hard to loose a beloved pet.  Most of them do age faster than we do.  I have a parrot that is 26 this year and he's supposed to live to be 40.  This bird may live longer than I.  Only the good Lord knows.  My 2 beagles, and 2 cats however show their age more everyday.  In doggie years they are older than I.  Keep the good memories of the good times with your Pip, they help heal the sorrow.  'On Ya' - ma

I am so sorry that you have had to say 'Goodbye' to Pip, it is a very sad thing, on the 23rd December last year I had to to do the same for my best friend Whiskey, a Westie who I had for 18 years, it still hurts so much, but I am so grateful for the time we spent together.    MY thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry my friend. I lost my dog Baby in April. She was 22 years old. November 29, I lost my cat Cleo. They are family. Pip is happy now. He is at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for you. He is young and running and playing and knows that you loved him.

I'm sorry to hear that Pip has gone, it's so sad when we lose our pets, they give us unconditional love all their lives. I know you'll never forget him, my two border collies died in the early 1990's and their memory is still fresh in my mind. Jeannette.

OH Jeannette, I did not see that Pip died..I thought it was an anniverary.

Oh I so sorry. I dont know what it feels like to lose a beloved furry famiyl member, although my dog is very old, and when the time comes, Ill be very heartbroken.

I just want you to know that Pip is over at the "Rainbow Bridge" , a place where dogs run free, and pets of all kinds go when they have passed on.

He will reside in your heart forever.

My love always,
Meg

It is truly like losing a best friend when our dogs have passed on.   I have my forth dog and would not have gotten one if he had not been a stray brought to me.   I understand your loss.    mark

Dearest Jeannette, there are no words I can type that will bring comfort to you at this time, but I can promise you this.  Over time the awful, raw pain will ease and you will be able to think of Pip again with only the loving memories.  Do take care.

Sorry I was so late getting around my friend.  Pip appears to be a Border Collie.  Bubba had one when he was a little boy.  It is amazing how they become a part of you and your family.  Know this must be hard on you.  God bless.  -  Barbara

Oh Jeanette what a wonderful tribute to your beloved Pip.   I could in no way call him a pet for I see that he was so very much more.  What a beautiful creature Pip is, his spirit shines right through these  photographs just as you have described it.  My heart goes out to you and Mike.  Pip I am sure was blessed by having a place in your hearts and home.

Jeannette, what you're doing and have done is so right.  Let it all come out; talk about Pip , remember him , treasure his life.  I used to have to pull over into a layby when driving, before the tears overcame me.  Kipling said `Don't give your heart to a dog to tear', but I fear we all do.  Lots of sympathy, Bunny.
