Shivery Sunday

The sun made valiant efforts to shine today but the clouds defeated it.  Now, it is so dark it could be evening and I have had to put the lights on and the temperature has really taken a fall.  I do not know whether I suffer from SAD but these gloomy days really get me down, make me feel like crawling back to bed and staying there. Sunshine always lifts my spirits.

I do not really have a lot to write about today.  I watched the finale of Soapstar Superstar and as predicted, Richard won.  He was tipped to win right from the start and I am pleased for him.  He is so very talented for a boy of sixteen and yet I could not help but feel sorry for Andy.  He is such a nice guy and a really genuine person.  He smiled the whole way through every night of the contest and never minded what song they gave him to sing.  It is a pity that it came down to a final between the two of them.  It must have been hard for the cast of Coronation Street because their loyalties must really have been divided. They would have wanted them both to win.

That was followed by Dancing On Ice which is really Strictly Come Dancing but on ice.  I did watch the beginning.  How nice to see Torvill and Dean skating together after ten years. They have lost none of their talent.  However, after watching the first two contestants, I lost interest.  I think it was because Strictly Come Dancing so recently finished and the programme was on directly after Soapstar Superstar.  How much reality t.v. can you take!  I think it should have been on at a different time.  So, I retired to the bedroom and watched a programme I had recorded earlier in the week.

Today is very quiet, no visitors and we have just been browsing the Sunday papers and chatting.  Mike is taking Jesse out soon and not looking forward to it now it has become so cold. My blood sugars are coming down but very very slowly.  Strange how quickly they can shoot up but it takes ages to get them back down.

Oh, you will remember the saga of the net curtains.  You will recall I ordered some in November and kept being told they would be delayed due to "production problems".  In the end I told the firm where to stick them.  I cancelled the order over the phone, I cancelled the order on my online account to make doubly sure and to make triply sure I also wrote to them confirming I had cancelled.  Guess what arrived on Friday - yes, the damned curtains.  You can imagine the air was blue.  Now I have had to make two phone calls to them, write to them and have to wait for them to send me a returns form.  Then I get another email saying that cannot accept net curtains as a return because they have been cut to size and therefore cannot be resold!!!!!!!  I got on the phone and gave them hell believe me.  I can get angry, believe me you do not want to see me when I am angry.

I have demanded that their delivery person comes and picks the curtains up, I have said that if they dare add the cost of the said curtains to my account then I will take this matter as far as I can.  No way am I paying for a cancelled order that is absolutely no good to me because I now have new curtains at my windows.

This year, not a lot seems to have gone right for us so far   and I am getting pretty sick of it I can tell you.

Well now, and there was me thinking I did not have much to write about.

Good morning from Virginia...
I know it is not morning there where you are.  I still feel strange at times with the time difference.
Sounds like you are having a relaxing Sunday.  I can feel for you on the curtains...sometimes those things happen and it makes you so mad, you want to scream.  I love your tag today..so pretty...also the one with your name...you have some of the prettiest tags in j-land.  Have a great evening there and a fantastic Monday!
Many hugs..

I have wondered also about having S.A.D.  How horrible that you have to get so mad at a company that just can't seem to take care of business!  What is wrong with them?  Try and have a good day!  JaE

As somebody who works in a very service oriented environment, bad customer service really makes me p****d off!! I feel really, really bad and will go out of my way to help a customer who expresses disappointment, and most of my colleagues agree.  So when you speak to someone, lay it on thick and see if it works!!

Beautiful graphic. Glad that your blood sugar is coming on down. I was wondering about you this morning. I don't blame you for getting upset about the curtains. They are trying to force them on you now. They had plenty of time to cancel the order and you went all out to make sure they did. The weather is sunshiny here today but it was quite cold to start with. It's 46º here now. Hope yours soon warms up. Helen

Jeanette after all these "live" shows about real stuff...I for one am ready for fantasy.  Take me off the planet, anyway, anywhere...fly me to the moon and beyond.  Everybody needs some fantasy now and then...Sandi

Calm down Jeannette! how aggrevating they sent you those curtains AFTER you cancelled them! I remember when that happened-have a nice Sunday.~Diane~

I remember you saying you had cancelled the order, I do hate incompetence. There's no way they can charge you for them, you'd waited long enough when you ordered them. I'd tell them where to go!! Can't be doing your blood pressure any good. I hope the year improves for you and Mike. Jeannette xx

Hello Jeannette, I remember you saying about cancelling the curtains too.  How on earth have they made such a stupid mistake when you covered every eventuality.  Their problem, not yours, good for you giving them a blast like that, so would I!  It`s their bad luck as there is obviously no communication in their company and I hope you get this sorted out very soon. I think you`ve done rather well considering you had nothing to talk about...lol!  I find that happens to me sometimes too.  I haven`t watched Soap Superstar or the ice dance, I`ve given up on Big Brother too.  I think I`ll give reality TV a miss for a while. :o)

I say a prayer for you today.  The sun came out here bright and shiny this morning, but this afternoon the clouds moved in.   It was cheering just to see it for a little while.  We have beautiful old stained glass windows in our church and the sun was shinning though and straight at me...warmed my heart for sure.  Take good care !  'On Ya' - ma

These dark days are really awful and I think it's so difficult to feel optimistic about anything during them. Let's just hope that we get some sunshine soon! I'm certainly pining for it too!

Hello! Thanks for your comment about assistance with the photos. All I really need is to make them bigger. So many people have been really kind and offered me help, so I will check them out first before I come pestering you! lol.

I enjoyed your entry - well done to you for standing your ground over those net curtains! Its good to show these people that they can't just stomp all over us as and when they feel like it! lol

Hope tomorrow is a better day..........

They did strictly ice dancing last year on bbc1 at this time of the year so the itv show is just a copy basically...You should write to watchdog or one of those consumer people in a magazine about the fiasco with the curtains i know i would...Damn cheek they have    Caff xxx

I've reached the point where if something goes right - it worries me. Had our share of hassles and blips already this year. Take care.

I thought I was the only person having problems, but I see now I have company.   I guess we would have to go back a hundred years and see what foul luck could bring, and realize we have it better.   I saw the doctor on Friday about my shoulder lump removal and will be contacted on when it will be done.   She said I will need some sedation since she will be digging around into the muscle, but I know it will not be anything of consequence.    mark

Our weather has plummeted from the 50's to around 0 in just a day.  It was very cold and bitter yesterday.  What a mess with the curtains.  I love your graphics.  Linda

Nightmare indeed..it makes you wonder if they are listening to people or do they read their emails & letters..Here ins the US, you can dispute charges on your account with the bank too.  A lot of times, with the story competely written out, the bank will refuse the charges from the offending company.  Hope it gets straigtened out.   Take care   Linda in Washington
