It is hard to believe it is July. I lay in bed last night listening to the wind screaming around our property. It was more like October or November. Today remains the same with the trees whipping backwards and forward and the sound the same although I can drown that out with the radio.
We have not had a day in the last two weeks when there has not been rain, some of it torrential. Our lawn is like a bog, the grass is getting so long the dogs are practically disappearing into it. Leo will not go out at all. This was, we were told, going to be the hottest summer for 30 years! Well, I suppose there is still time. The forecast is better for tomorrow and Sunday before more rain sweeps in next week.
It is so annoying not being able to at least sit in the garden. I have been spending time reading. Currently "The Life And Times Of The Thunderbolt Kid" by Bill Bryson. I love his writing, he is always so amusing. It is about his growing up in Iowa during the 1950's onwards. I guess really about small town life in the U.S. during those times. He is very witty and on a couple of occasions I have laughed out loud.
Apart from that, we both have some bug or other. It is nothing you can define really. Sneezing a lot and yet not really having a cold, feeling under the weather, stomach cramps. Nothing you can do much about except wait for it to pass. There is nothing you can really do to treat it.
However, him indoors is not one to be deterred. He has been trying to get the outside painting finished for three weeks but the endless rain has prevented him. So, every dry patch we have he runs out and does a little more until the skies open.
I grabbed these two shots this morning.
The first one is taken down the side of our house
The second one is taken at the back where he is painting the outside of the sunlounge
I do not envy him being out in the wind. I can hear buckets being blown around plus other things. Even the windows are rattling. Still, he wanted to do it. I have not pushed him in any way.
He still has to do the garage yet. Normally he can paint the whole of our property within a week. By the time he finishes it will be nearly a month.
I am still getting over the affects of radiotherapy. Still have a lot of burning on the breast and it is starting to peel in places. My doctor said that the six weeks recovery time given is the minimum but it takes a lot longer in many cases and my diabetes will probably slow things. So I did not need this vague bug on top of everything else. But, as my dear Father used to say, "these things are sent to try us."
I try to occupy my mind with others things and not dwell on it although I do get very down from time to time as you can imagine.
I want to WARN you all. There is an e-mail going around that looks like an official one from AOL. I have heard of several who have received it, even Dean has. Luckily, he was suspicious and phoned AOL. They told him it is absolutely nothing to do with them and thanked him for reporting it. It looks totally genuine and says something to the affect that a problem has arisen and they are unable to access your account. If payments are not received then your account will be terminated within 48 hours. You are asked to provide your bank details again. THIS IS A SCAM. Sorry to "shout" but I need to get the point over. If you receive this e-mail I urge you to report it to AOL and, of course, totally ignore it. It would be helpful if you could pass this warning on to your friends. Not everybody reads my journal and many of you will have readers that I do not.
I hate to think there are people who are going to have their bank accounts cleaned out.
Love,

We have the complete opposite here. Hot and dry. We really need some rain. Hope some sunshine comes your way soon. 'On Ya' - ma
You are not on your own experiencing so much rain! Up here in the North, it has rained continually for weeks now. It is nothing like summer........where is all the hot, dry weather that was predicted last year? I pity anyone holidaying in a tent during this! Hope it soon clears and I hope you are feeling better. Eileenx
Thanks for the warning. There are so many scams out there that we do have to be careful. Every day it seems I hear of another one. It's good to let others know. 'On Ya' - ma
I'm fed up with the weather too Jeannette! I have just given in and put the central heating on ....in JULY!!! Its unvelievable! Maybe we are going to have an Indian Summer? This feels more like early spring.....((((brrrrrrr!)))). Thanks for the warning...I will take note.
Jeanie
I wish you could send some of the rain my way. It hasn't rained in 80 some odd days, and with temps at 116ºF, we could use a shot or two of the wet stuff! We have a predicted dust storm this evening, but they bring no rain. We are all just patiently awaiting the monsoon to start.

My dad was telling me how terrible the weather has been..last year it was a heatwave and this year so cold..crazy weather..and my brother went and got a pool because of the heat last year...of course no one has been near it yet...what a shame aye?
You sound good..hope the sun shines on Jeanette soon... :-)
Lyn
I do hope you feel better. And the weather really sounds horrible! And thank you for the warning of that scam as well.
Lisa
TY for the warning, so many scams out there!
Hubby looks really busy, {{ }}.
Hope you feel better soon & weather gets nice.
Hugs, Sugar
Hello Jeannette - we, too, are suffering from the vague illness, I think it is a form of hay fever. We've had it since April, when it started off with a runny nose. At 72 and 80 we've never had anything like it. Very debilitating.
Just finished `The Thunderbolt Kid'. Very funny indeed.
I experienced a scam email purporting to be from eBay, to `update my account details'. Beware.
Bunny x
We need some of that rain very badly here in AL. Our water is restricted now. If you use over your limit there will be a pretty big extra charge. I have seen those email before and just delete them off. I hope Mike can get his painting done soon. Helen
Thanks for the warning Jeannette. I'm of to Scotland this weekend and if this weather keeps up all I am going to see is mist and rain, still never mind at least I am lucky enough to be going. Love Pat x

I dont envy you with that wind I hate windy days.
I do hope you get better and over the effects of the therapy. I think maybe you guys have a bug from all the moisture. all that dampness is cuaseing mold spores that is what is making you sick
Have a good weekend.
Missie
Jeannette I hope you feel better soon ~ and I also hope we get some sunshine soon I think that will help everyone feel better ~ thanks for the warning about the scam ~ Ally x
I think summer has been cancelled this year Jeannette, I blame myself for spending so much time and money on plants! August is predicted to be hot and dry....hmmm, we`ll have to wait and see. I read that book at Christmas and I loved it. Bill Bryson is one of my favourite writers and I too laughed out loud in places. I`ve also had emails like that AOL and have sent them to their head office. I must admit they are very good forgeries but I would never give bank details to anyone via email. Have a great weekend. :o)
Love Sandra xxxx
It's been so dry here. I can't imagine having your kind of weather at the moment. I hope you both feel better soon. Just relax and get well.
Hugs and love,
Pam
It may be raining loads, but your flowers are looking great!
It has been much the same here in Texas - rain every day. Definitely not the norm...
Happy Friday...
~Amy
Beautiful graphics and great pictures. I love the color you are using on your house. My place should be painted this year or next year for sure. It's that country blue color now and even though I love blue I'm sick of having a blue house. The house I lived in for 13 years before moving here 5 1/2 years ago had blue vinyl siding on it. So now everywhere I go, I look at colors of houses. Sorry about your continuing rain. At least we're getting a few days of sunshine and heat in between our rainy days. It was just a week ago that I came home at 10pm after the play in pouring rain, and the water was running deep in the streets. Now the last three days we've had temps in the 80's. So hang in there...your sun will return. Linda in Washington state

Hi Jeanette. Yes we have been experiencing the same weather as you, I think it is beginning to get everyone down and feeling depressed, yes I heard that we were surposed to have a really hot summer too, well we are still waiting for it. If only the sun would shine I am sure we all would feel a bit better I have been reading Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix again in anticipation of the new film out next week, enjoying it too, take care Kathie.
Hope your weather improves. I think that is one of the first pictures I've seen of Him indoors. Linda
Hello Jeanette, sorry you're not feeling to well. Hope you both feel better soon. Thanks for the warning about the e-mails, I'll be on my guard from now on.
I'm sick of this rain now too, we've hardly been out of the house these past few weeks.
Adam whose 7 and his sister who is 25 are at this moment asleep in a tent on the back garden. They are mad, what can I say!!! Its freezing, and windy, although It's not raining at the moment. I'm sure they will be in the house before morning.
Take care Jeanette
God Bless
Carol and Adam x

I love the beautiful flowers on your entry. Your house is looking wonderful, sorry your weather is so crummy. We are having beautiful weather for a change, in fact it's getting a little too hot for some and for lawns and flowers. Hope you have a nice weekend and that the weather improves for you. Joni
Sorry you've been under the weather and that your weather is not cooperating! I hope you feel better soon. Glad you have a good book to read. When I am feeling ill, I love catching up on reading too. Relaxes me.
I always love seeing your beautiful flowers...so pretty. Hope that rain clears...and the weather improves...thanks for the heads up on the spam email...hugs and love,

Send me some rain..It is so hot and dry here.
We did have some wind today, but no rain. I have to water my flowers every single day. Yours look lovely by the way.
That is wonderful you are getting him to paint for you.
My hubby carries on something terrible when I mention painting, lol. I love color and hope to get some done when it cools off.
Thanks for the warning. I did see something from AOL, but didn't open it either. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the heads up on the email scam hon! Good luck to the hubby on getting the painting finished with the weather you two are having there. Thanks for telling me about the author you are reading I'm probably going to look his books up myself now. Keeping you both in prayers on the smoke your feeling better soon! (Hugs) Indigo
Send some rain...just package it up and send it over to Tennessee in the USA, ok? But wait til tomorrow b/c the driveway sealer man is coming today.
Ohhhhh have you read Bill Bryson's "Walk in the Woods"? I think that is what it is called. It's good and funny. He takes an unfit friend on a big hiking trip who eats snickers in the tent - and Bill's always afraid of bears. Very funny. Him Indoors is doing good and keeping busy I see. Laughing at his name you have given him. LOL
Hi Jeannette ,good for Mike plodding on with the painting when the weather allows .Thank you for the aol email warning ,I got one too but didn't do anything as I guessed it was a hoak ,hope you had a good w/end ?....Love Jeanxx
