We Had A Nice Day

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

We enjoyed Nathan's Birthday and so did he.  It is hard to believe he is already three, the time has gone so quickly.  In no time at all he will be starting school.  This September he starts nursery school on a daily basis instead of twice a week and little Daniel will also be joining.  Becky is going to wonder what happened when they are both at pre-school.  It will seem so quiet for her but, no doubt, she will be glad to get a break.

Nathan is a quite a shy little boy. I think he must have inherited that from me.  I was just like that as a child.  My mother used to get cross because when she stopped to talk to any friends in the street, I would hide behind her and not say a word.  Took me quite a few years to grow out of it and I am sure Nathan will.

He was given lots of Thomas things such as clothing and a mug.  His Mummy and Daddy gave him a wonderful Thomas train set that has lots of track and a "flyover" with a bus going across it.  We gave him a Thomas beanbag armchair with his name stencilled on it.  He loved it and spent nearly all the time he was here sitting in it.  We also gave him a selection of books, a couple were just story books, others educational. He looked so sweet sitting in the chair with a book in his hand going through the pictures.

He had a lovely cake (Thomas of course) and blew out all the candles himself.   Next year he will probably have his first real birthday party and have little friends around.  They appreciate it more when they are that bit older.

I have a short video to share with you.  Hope you enjoy it.

I watched the whole of the Concert For Diana yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I did think the BBC coverage was not up to their usual standard, cutting people off in the middle of a conversation, announcing the wrong acts and the endless shots from the helicopter above the stadium.  I think they would have been better off having a proper compere for the show.

Seeing again all those clips of Diana with Aids victims, the blind, sick children etc. made me realise what a special person she was.  No matter what her faults (and yes she did have them, we all do) she had a special quality about her, she was a genuine humanitarian, really cared about ordinary people in the street.  She remains a loss to this country.  It is a pity that the Royal family never knew what a treasure they had and treated her better. It is a very true saying that you never know what you have until it has gone.  What a wonderful queen she would have made.  I am happy though that her two boys (of whom she would have been so proud) seem to be following in her footsteps.

Well, I have heaps of mail to wade through and I cannot sit on the computer all day, so I will wish you all a very happy week.

Love

Hi Jeannette,  As you know I share Nathan's birthday, my grandaughters [aged 6 and 4] made me a coconut sponge cake which they covered with chocolate spread and then put maltesers all over it. Nathan seemed very pleased with his birthday, Three already, still he has a long way to go before he catches up with me, hope you received his e-card from me, Love Pat x

Hello Jeanette,
What a lovely video. Thanks for sharing it with us.
They are two beautiful boys.
We also watched the concert, well most off it. but the sound was not very good either was it?, but the music was great. Diana as you say was a very special woman, and she should have been treated better, but her spirit  lives on in her sons.
Love to you
Carol and Adam xx

Hi Jeannette,

Thanks for sharing your grandson's special day with us here in J-Land. Sounds as if you all enjoyed his birthday and he had fun.

I watched the "Concert for Diana" too, and agree it was not up to the BBC's usual standard. I enjoyed it anyway. A wonderful way to remember a marvellous woman!

I wrote an entry about Diana, and my personal experience of meeting the late Princess.

Have a great week.

Looks like Nathan had a wonderful birthday party.  I think it's great that little boys all over the world love Thomas.  They showed bit and pieces of the Diana concert here, along with interviews of her sons.  They seem to be fine young men.  And it makes me angry when the press hounds them and reports every little move they make, reporting all their little antics. Other young men their age do the same things & no one ever hears about it.   Have a great day, Linda in Washington state

awwwwww what a special birthday for your grandson. I love that chair he got. I missed the Diana special and I really wanted to watch it. Diana was a great woman, and it is so sad she was taken from this earth. (((((Hugs))))))))

Hi Jen, so glad that Nathan had a good birthday he looks so happy with his gifts especially thomas the tank engine. Didn,t get a chance to watch Princess Diana in concert, makes me so sd to think of the way in which he young life was cut so cruelly short, she had so much more good work to do and it was terrible that she died with so much unfinished!! Maybe she would still be alive today if she hadn,t married Charles, who knows, but glad that you enjoyed it despite the hiccups of the show. Hope you continue to heal, take care dear friend, love and blessings to you from me.
                                      love Anne

Lovely!!!!  The pencil drawing of Nathan is wonderful!  I am so happy he had a great  birthday!  My nephew who just turned 4 is also a big Thomas fan!  LOL  I loved the cake you got!!!  Yes, I agree, Diana was amazing and she would be so proud of her boys!

be well,
Dawn

It sounds like Nathan really enjoyed himself; he's adorable and that's great that he had such a nice party.
You're absolutely right about Princess Diana. Even we here in the States know what an asset she was to the Royal family and how devastating her loss was.
Enjoy your day.

Oh to be 3 again and have such a lovely birthday cake!  Enjoyed your video and can't believe how the boys are growing up fast!  Daniel is a real little boy now with his new haircut.  I watched the Diana programme last night and it made me realise again how much she is missed and what a gem the Royal Family had in her.  Have never felt the same towards them since her death.  Eileenx  PS I was surprised at how much I enjoyed P Diddy too!

What a fine young man he is..I like the cake.
I loved seeing and reading about Diana over the years.
I am glad her sons have done her proud.
She was very special.  I will never understand why Charles picked Camilla over her.  He lost the best thing he ever had when he gave her up.
She was beautiful inside and out.

Hi Jeanette,
I just couldn't agree with you more about Princess Diana (I hope I have said that correctly). She was a treasure to this country and did so much for the needy and truly began the help and media attention on the removal of all of those IED's in Africa to protect the people there. Seeing her handsome sons pay such a lovely tribute to their Mother brings back to me also what a tragedy that all was.
Your little one turning three, WOW! Would you believe my litttle grand-daughter will also be three on Dec. 30th of this year (from my oldest stepson and his wife--who I adore!) They sure do grow up fast don't they Jeanette? Little Evy is just talking up a storm and they just sent us a great DVD of her. What a smart little kid she is. Glad you had so much fun with the celebration! :)

Huggers,
Gayla

Enjoyed the video, what a sweetie and Happy Belated Birthday to the young man!

I think Princess Diana touched the world with her love for those less fortunate and I remember for myself, made me want to give more of myself to help others.  I never got hung up over mistakes made.  You are right, we all make them.  Like I said on another blog, I wonder how many of us could withstand the scrutiny of the media microscope and still keep our sanity, lol.  I know I would probably be in jail for jacking up those photo hounds.  Wack!  LOL

Hi Jeanett Nathan had a great birthday lovely pics of him. I too enjoyed the concert and agree with your comment about it,  but it was so nice to sit down and watch a bit of variety for a change. Well done to the two Princes they did a splended job of remembering thier very special mother. Kathie.
