Can Spring Be Here?

Today is the first day this year we have been able to keep our back door open.  Had a walk around the garden and it is so nice to see the Daffs coming up and some are even blooming.  One of our trees sadly died over the winter so that will have to be chopped down.

We put the rabbits into our summerhouse for the winter but decided today that they can come outside again.  Also, that way we can get to use the summerhouse ourselves!  So, I have been helping Mike here and there doing the cleaning up whilst he moved the hutches back outside.

We had a nice day yesterday as the family were over. Nathan is already trying to pull himself upright.

I have decided, for the foreseeable future, only to do one or two journal entries per week and not every day as I did up until recently.  I must admit, I was spending far too long on the computer, hours each and every day and was not getting any exercise.  I am sure this is what contributed to putting my blood sugars up.  As I have been doing more the last few days instead of sitting on here, they have dropped a lot and are mostly within the acceptable range now.  Also, being more active will help my blood pressure.

Apart from that, I have also started making a rug for Nathan's room, Winnie the Pooh and friends.  I used to make all our rugs years ago (we are still using some of them) and I find it very relaxing and there is something positive and lasting to show at the end of it.  Then, of course, if the weather continues to improve and we get no more arctic blasts, it will be time to get in the garden and do some much needed tidying up.

I never realized until I saw the doctor last week and she asked me how much exercise I get, how much journals had taken over my life.  If I was not doing entries, I was reading other peoples or searching for graphics or researching information about an entry.  You all know what it is like, you think you will go on for a few minutes and then suddenly it is hours later.

So, I am not giving up my journal but will certainly not be doing it every day.  I have to take care of my health and for me, that has to be the priority at the moment. You all know my problems in getting out and I have a doctor's appointment next week for bp check and also foot check. I also have to book with the optician, the chiropodist etc. etc. so being out in the garden is helping to boost my confidence.  I know that you will all continue to pray for me.  I am sure it is the power of prayer that has got me this far and seen an improvement.  However, I still have a long way to go.

Well, not much else to write about today. Just off to have lunch and then back out into the garden.  Lovely to get some fresh air and to hear the birds singing.

We are so lucky that here in the south of the country we seem to be having Spring at last. The time of re-growth is always good for the spirits.  You are quite right about journals taking so much time. Until I had Jake I don`t think I walked very much at all sice we lost Hannah. What with having a car and driving everywhere too.  I put on half a stone in weight and certainly didn`t feel that great.  But Jake HAS to be walked, rain or shine, the weight is now back to normal, with a little help with healthy eating, and I feel better for it. Enjoy your garden Jeannette, and fun with that lovely Grandson of yours! ;-)    Sandra xxx

So glad you're feeling much better Jeannette :o)
I spend hours every day sat at my computer, so I can understand when you say that it gets a bit much sometimes!  I'm just glad that you're not giving it up altogether, and that we'll still have our little window into 'Jeannette land' once or twice a week :o)  I didn't know you made rugs, have you any pics of the one's you've made?  I once thought about making a rug, but decided against it as I like my cross stitch and have plenty to be getting on with there for now!!
Have a lovely afternoon out in your garden!

Spring was here for the weekend, now it's cold and rainy.  Hopefully it stays spring for you.  We'll get there soon enough as flowers are blooming all around us.  I found doing an entry a day was to difficult so I do one every other day or every few days.  Would love to see pictures of some of the rugs!  I enjoy seeing others creations!  Hugs to you!

Jeanette, can understand how easy it is for the computer to become an overly large part of the day. Enjoy your summerhouse xx

Good news Jeannette - they are forecasting sunshine and temperatures of around 16C later in the week. You will be able to suntan whilst gardening!

As long as you aren't giving up completely I don't think we've got anything to complain about ;-)  It's a wise idea coz they do take up a lot of time like you said.  Sounds like you've had a good day.  Be sure to take a photo of the rug when you've finished I'd like to see it please - thanks!!

I cansurely understand the need to slow down on journal entries...Someitmes we tend to let ourselves get too involved, especially during the winter. I have noticed that a lot of my journaling friends have slowed down on their entries (Me included) since spring is arriving and we are outside a lot more.

You got to think about "you" first! Take care. :-)

It has been a lovely day here too Jeannette.  Knows what you mean about time on the pc.  I think maybe spring is on its way. xxR

That's very wise, Jeannette - a little exercise every day will do so much good. And you're absolutely right about losing all track of time online - I always find I go into a time-warp! Really glad the blood sugar levels are improving.

Oh, to be outside working...would be so wonderful. It is snowing here, as I leave a comment. Our Spring is at least a month away. I know exactly what you mean about logging on, its amazing how much time you can spend online. Noticed a lot of us are cutting back on entries...must be that time of year. So happy to hear you had a visit with Nathan over the weekend. God Bless.   ~Deborah

I've been thinking along the lines of reducing my time online, which means reducing my journal time.  I NEED to get out and exercise more, my blood sugars haven't been very good lately. :-(  Wishing or praying for your health.

Know how you feel Jeannette, once I get on the computer I tend to lose all sense of time - but it's like a window on the world, keeping in touch with so many people and discovering new things on the net.  I have to make myself do a certain amount of housework before I allow myself on the computer at weekends lol!  Very often during the week, I don't switch the computer on at all - I'm just too tired!  I'm going into hospital tomorrow for a couple of days, so I shall be giving it a rest for a while.
I enjoy your contributions and shall watch out for future ones.
take care
