Mike and I are getting a lot better I am pleased to say. I wish the weather would do the same!
Do any of you watch the shopping channel Ideal World? I used to watch it a good deal in the days when Mike was working and used to buy quite a bit from them but since he retired I have only tuned in occasionally. One of the regular presenters used to be Steve Whatley known as "Whatters". The last I heard, he was leaving Ideal World and setting up his own company called "Zhuzh" and that it was doing well.
This morning I was doing a search online for something and came across his name. That brought him back to my mind and I clicked on the link to see what he was up to and whether he would be back on our t.v. screens. I was stunned to see that he died last November 7th. Investigating further I was even more stunned to find that he had committed suicide. He was always so full of beans, Mr." life and soul of the party "so to speak and had a very full and active life. He was the last person I would have thought would have ended like that. It made me quite sad. He was the sort of presenter you either loved or loathed but he had a huge fan base and I know he cheered a good many people up, myself included. I remember buying something online shortly after my brother died. I was asked if I wanted to be put through to the studio and actually spoke to Steve, one of several times. He sensed I was down and asked if everything was o.k. When I told him of my loss he seemed genuinely sorry. He also sent me a couple of Christmas cards over the years.
He had been an actor, singer and dancer appearing in many West End shows, also a producer, a writer and made many guest appearances on other shows. Strange that there was nothing in the newspapers and I only found out by accident. He was a great animal lover and I so enjoyed the shows where he brought his three dogs on. I bet they miss him.
Rest in peace Steve.
Now I have a couple of photos for you which I hope will brighten your day. They were taken when the boys were on holiday recently and I only received them myself today.
Wow ~ Is this all for me?
Bet you thought I could not eat it all!!
(Methinks he had a lot of help from his Dad!)
It gave Daniel a good laugh as well
I suppose I had better get some housework done although I do not feel like it. I joined Amazon's DVD rental club and two arrived this morning so I am very tempted...........but.......I think I will save them for Saturday night when the t.v. programming is awful. There is no time limit on how long you can keep them so no problem there.
Hope you all have a good week.

I had heard he had passed away, but not the reasons behind his passing. Am I right in thinking he used to be the voice of night time Anglia programming? I also remember them starting up the new shopping channel but it was beset with problems with a subsequent fire that lost them an awful lot of money, perhaps that was a possible cause to his decision to do what he did.
Good morning Jeannette,
I am so sorry about your loss of Steve...sounds like he was one heck of a guy!
Thanks for sharing the info.
That is one HUGE Sunday! I loved all the photos...I used to be able to eat one whole one myself...those years are long gone! He did, I bet put a big dent in the sunday, even with Dad's help. I hope your week is bright and the weather gets better...hugs and lots of love,
Joyce
Hi Jeannette, I`m glad to hear that you and Mike are on the mend. Try not to do too much too soon after being so poorly. I love nathan`s cheeky little face after that icecream, he obviously loved it even though his Dad helped him out! Daniel is such a happy little boy, what a lovely smile he has. I`ve not heard of Steve but how sad that he was driven to that.

I didn't realize you guys had Mother's Day over there. Happy belated Mother's Day, honey =)! So sad to see your pal committing suicide. I am sorry for the loss of such a fine person. He must have been tortured somehow to do such a thing. Loved the pictures, honey! Take care! xox

Hi Jeannette glad you are both feeling better sorry to hear about Watters like you I used to watch a bit of Ideal World before Stuart retired but he cannot stand shopping channels so don't watch much now sometimes have a look during the numerous ad breaks. Watters was such a cheery person like you said and always so cheery. They were selling one of his bronzing products just the other week so his company I think it was called zsush or something like that is still going. Still find that hard to take in that he ended his own life. Love Joan.
I hope you have a good week too! Thanks for the smiles this morning! The little ones always brighten our days ! 'On Ya' - ma
I wonder why tv is so bad on the week ends? I suppose they think we don't watch but so many do... especially when the weather is so bad. I can't believe he ate that all... he must have gotten some help... what do you think? Sandra
Sorry about the loss of one of your favorite people. I would have helped Nathan in a heart-beat! Where did they get that??? Jae
One nevers knows what is going on inside of a person's mind. It's sad that he ended his life, most people fight right to the end. Thats why its so important to let your loved ones know that you do love them beyond anything. I worked with a young boy only 18 who committed suicide because of a girl ridiculing him..sweetest kid you ever met..I think back and there was nothing I could of done to prevent that..but it will always be with me. Great pictures of the grandbabies...let's think about life! Sandi
Jeannette I actually got a proper Alert on this one and I just love your t~shirt graphic ~ My mind is just like that lol ~ Sad about Steve Whatley am surprised nothing was mentioned about his death ~ or if it was it must have been in small print ~ Picture of the boys are really great ~ That Ice Cream is nearly as big as him ~ Ally
The teeshirt is perfect! LOL

I am not familiar with the shopping channel you mentioned. I know it was a shock to hear about your friend. The pictures of the boys are adorable. I can't imagine Nathan eating that hugh ice cream dessert by himself. LOL.
I've never heard of Steve Whatley but it's always sad when someone ends there life. The photos of Nathan and Daniel are ones to treasure!! Nathans is one of those I think will come back to embarrass him in later life when his mum shows it to future girlfriends!! Jeannette..
Wow! that is one Ice cream~ lovely 'photos
I remember Steve Whatley..he was on with Richard & Judy (This Morning) for a while as their 'Consumer Expert', but lost track of him after that.

Lovely interesting and rather sad entry Jeanette. I hope Nathan didn't eat that whole sundae! It was vast. Love from Josa
That is really sad news Jeannette - he sounds like he was a genuine sort of a guy.

all the best
Freda
Great pictures.... Linda
Hi Jeannette, I'm not getting your alerts, so it's very nice when you send out the e-mail. I'm sorry you have been so sick. I know how illness can play havoc with your blood sugar when you're diabetic. Every female on my mother's side had diabetes. I'm very fortunate that, at this point, I am still testing negative. Take care of yourself and try not to over do until all of your strength comes back. I love the fappy faces on the children. Aren't grandchildren precious? Pennie
Glad you're feeling better...The pics of the Nathan with the huge dessert are brill...Sad to see that presenter died and especially so it being suicide :o( Caff xxx
