Showery Saturday

Well, here we are at the start of a Bank Holiday weekend so you know that the weather just has to be wet!  Only showery at the moment but plenty of dark clouds and it is suppose to deterioriate even more during the weekend. I feel sorry for all those organisations who have things planned for the Bank Holiday.

You might have been wondering where I have been.  Well, I never learn.  I had been spending far too much time on the computer and have started my neck off so I am in quite a bit of pain at the moment.  Also, I have begun the increase in my medication with some rather unpleasant side effects, the sort you do not talk of in polite society. I was warned about them but that does not make them any easier to take. At the moment my relaxed attitude to having my diabetic check at the end of next week has disappeared and I am quite uptight about it due to the way I feel right now.  Well, I can only hope that things improve in the next few days and that by next Friday I will feel a lot better and all will go well.  I could do without any more stress at the moment.

On a brighter note, we did look after Daniel yesterday or rather Mike did, bless him - he had to see to the little man because I was lying on the sofa most of the time.  Daniel was not in a smiley mood but here is the latest picture of him.  His hair looks red in this shot but it is not. He is blonde although quite a bit darker than Nathan.

Our new tree arrived yesterday afternoon and is now safely planted. A Mountain Ash that will have white blossom in the Spring (probably next year) and red berries in the Autumn. I did get a couple of shots of Mike planting it.  He did a lot of work out there yesterday, not only putting the tree in place but a good deal of weeding as well because it has been neglected so far this year due to the weather.

These were taken before he tackled the weeding.  The tree is a healthy looking specimen so hope it does well. When it was standing in our hall it look quite large but now outside it barely looks like a tree at all, more a large stick with a few leaves on it but it has got good soil, a couple of handfuls of fertiliser and gets plenty of sun (when it shines) so hopefully it will soon grow sturdy and I look forward to the day when birds will be singing in its branches.

I hope you will all forgive me if I do not get around to commenting on all your journals every day for a little while. I need to get my neck better and to feel generally better than I do.  I will tackle as many as I can.  It will also probably be a couple of days before I post again.  I hate missing out on you but with my medical appointment not far off now I really have to be careful and not make my neck any worse.

Well, poor old Mike has just had to dash down the garden to retrieve the washing as it has started to rain yet again.  Looks like we will be drying it inside.

Hope you all have a good weekend and I promise to read all your journals soon.

So, in keeping with the weather I will sign off with this graphic by the lovely Donna.

I'm sure all the rain will at least keep your new tree happy! Sorry you haven't been well, I hope the appointment goes well next week. Daniel looks so grown up now! The second garden picture hasn't come through for me, I've clicked it, refreshed the page etc to no avail!! Hope you have a good weekend and your neck improves. Jeannette.

Hi Jeannette, I'm so sorry to hear your neck is hurting, sending big hugs to wish you better. At least the bank holiday rain will help your new tree ~ sounds like it will look fantastic this time next year :-)
Daniel is gorgeous, I love that little top he has on !! Sorry also about the unpleasant side effects of your medication ~ I have experienced this before, and for me at least, it did settle down after a short while.
Thinking of you, hugs and love Debbie ~xxxxx~

Sorry the tabs are having a bad effect on you dear ,and your neck is playing up again ,are you sitting in a draft somewhere?,its a shame if it is sitting at the computer ,as it gives you so much pleasure ,how Daniel has grown, wonder what he's thinking ?Your tree looks good, is it to replace the one you had to reluctantly dig up ,was it last year ?,its not raining here but looks very dull as you say bankholiday !!Take care and I hope you soon feel better ...........Jan xx

I love the graphic by Donna !  I'm looking forward to doing some porch sitting this summer...still too cold here for that though.  I sit in front of a computer all day at work and have found that I have to get up and do some stretches every now and then...it does help !  Who would have ever thought that I'd come home and spend more time in front of a computer.  Not me - but I do !  Take good care and feel better soon !  'On Y a' - ma

What meds are you taking? I am taking metformin. Lucky I have not had the side effects. A freind of mine takes it also. She had that side effect for about 2 months. This drug is also supposed to help with weight loss!

Lovely pics Jeannette, you look as though your house is positioned in a nice tranquil area.  Love Donna's graphic - it, and your comments, had me looking out of the window to check the weather - still fine here and my sheets are blowing in the wind!  Hope you are back soon - take care.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your new medication. I hate it when mine is changed as it usually takes a while for my system to get used to all the changes. I hope you feel better very quickly and get back to feeling more like your usual self. Loved the pictures. Love Joyce. xxx

Hi Jeannette,  I`m sorry to hear that your neck is painful.  I hope it gets better quickly as do your side effects.  I`m sure all will be well for your diabetic check on Friday, just make sure you take it easy.  Mike has done a grand job planting the tree, I hope you post photos of it as it grows.  Weather-wise it`s been lovely and sunny here but with a really cold wind,  so what with feeling poorly I didn`t bother gardening today, roll on Summer wherever you are!  Lovely photo of Daniel, how he`s grown. Take care my dear friend :o)

Daniel seems to be in deep thought or just a little sleepy.    The Mountain Ash should be interesting to watch as it grows yearly.   My Pin Oak in my front yard is green and beautiful.   I have a White Oak next to it and 2 Red Oaks around the property.     There is many Cedars and a few Pines and 4 Apple trees, 2 Pecans, Hickories,  Chinese Chestnut, a Pear, and a Mulberry in Salties pen.    I have not named them all and I live on about an acre of land.   Today is an inside day but it has not been doing much more than sprinkles of rain.    Hope your neck improves and like you I can only spend so much time at the computer and I will make a new entry sometime in the next week.     Hope your weekend is as comfortable as possible and have a good week ahead.     mark

Sorry about your neck Jeanette, rest and take care. Try not to fret too much about next week. Worry won't help at all. Little Daniel is sweet. I showed the pictures of Mike busy in the garden to my husband, hoping to give him some encouragement! But it hasn't worked.
All the best,
Kate.

Jeannette
Thank you not only for the words you have composed, but also for the colours and vibrancy in the accompanying illustrations. I too am a diabetic with all that implies but you will know all about that so enough said. In the past week I have tried to write a journal but still can't seem to find my way around the ins and outs of it. For instance I still don't know what a link is and how you get one. Do you knit one and purl three or is it just a crochetry needle that is required.  I have asked for and would welcome comments on my scribbling attempts but nobody seems to want to talk to me. Can they smell B.O over this confounded machine or have I done or failed to do something that allows them to do so. Anyway, thank you again for your wonderful efforts. POWER TO YOUR ELBOW GIRL.
