Christening Present

Following on from yesterday's entry, I thought you might like to see Daniel's Christening present.  Some of you will remember the picture I posted of Nathan's chair last year but some will not and I have also  acquired new readers since then.  We always wanted to avoid the usual Christening presents and we knew that nobody would duplicate a chair.

Here is the plaque that is attached to the underneath of the seat

It will not be long before the little man will be sitting in it and the boys can keep the chairs always as a memento long after they have grown out of them. Maybe they will paint them when they are older and, who knows, their own children might sit on them some day.  How nice that would be.

I hope Sara of Sara's Days (link on left) does not give up on her journal. She was one of my first commentors when I started way back in 2004.  We have lost so many good journals over the last few months and I always enjoy reading about Sara and J-man.  It makes me sad when people disappear because I have come to think of them as true friends.  You get to know people, look for people and then they are gone.  Well, I guess that, in the end, journals mirror life in a way - people come, people go, that is the way of things.

Have a good day everyone.

That is a beautiful keepsake in rememberance of their Christening and a gift from Nanjay and Grandy. I was not keeping a journal at the time you gave Nathan one. Helen

I like the chair!! I am sure he will love it when he gets to rock in it.
J Land can be a huge commitment...especially if you read and comment in alot of journals. Its up to the person if they want to be close to those in J Land or not. I chose to be close....J Landers are important to me.

A lovely and unusual christening gift!! I'm sure Daniel will love his. They'll be able to keep them for a long time. We have lost a lot of good journals, like Tilly's although I'm not sure if she'll write again or close up. It's a pity when our favourites go though you can't blame some of them with all we have to suffer from AOL! Jeannette xx

Hi Jeannette.......This is a wonderful present. I love the graphics in your journal. The boys are getting bigger by the day they are simply adorable.

I also hope that Sara doesn't give up her journal. I love visiting her journal as well. Please encourage her not to give up her journal Jeannette. Thank you for being here at J-Land. I will be at J-Land for a little while longer. You were the 1st one to welcome me aboard which was so kind of you. I have come to think of you as a friend.........I hope you will be with us for a long, long, long time. Take care.

Love the chair!!!! We have lost too many people through one cause or another; I miss Sara, but she needs to do what she feels right for her at the moment so we will have to just wait and see, but like you I hope she stays.

Hi Jeannette, What a wonderful present, so different from the usual Christening gift.  I`m sure the boys will both keep them and hand them down, maybe through a couple of generations, who knows?  Just look at Daniel, he grows bonnier each time I see him..what a sweetie! :o)

Love the chair, an imaginative choice. Sad about Sara, would miss her so much if she gave Jland up, but realise how difficult it can be to write/read at times of stress and worry. It's good to catch up with you. Take care.

What a wonderful idea for a christening present,so original, thanx for visiting my blog too and leaving your comments, its lovely to meet new friends here, and even though sometimes my entries are sad,i always try to balance them up,a bit like life,we all need balance.Primarily I started my blog,to help others, and from the anon mails i recieve I am achieving that, people want to know exactly how you feel at that moment or they cannot relate to you,so thats what I do,but I also hope that on my funnier days i can show that life does truely go on,I will add you to my favourites as i have been popping in to look for a few days now,and your blog is so lovely it brightens up the cloudiest days, all the best love zoe xx

I did get the alert for this entry.     His chair is a great idea and like you said it will eventually become an heirloom.      I think Sara is overwhelmed with alerts that she thinks she must answer to be a good J-lander.    I told her I know what she means and that I have to delete previous days that I can't respond to.    We are a cyber-cafe and just like any establishment, some people are there every day and some occasionally.     I know that work at home must take precedence.        mark
