Pinch, Punch, First Day Of The Month

Well, here we are - another month.  The year seems to be flying by.  Despite the bad forecast for the weekend, yesterday was a really nice day especially if you were actually in the sun.  Out of it there was a chilly breeze.

I took myself into the garden and planted up some Sweet Violets and some Lily Of The Valley.  Picked a nice spot where they get dappled shade and put lots of grit around the Lily because the slugs just love those fresh new shoots.  After that, I just sat in the sun with Mike and we shared a cup of tea together and listened to the water trickling into the pond from the filter and the song of the birds.  Our bird feeders were alive with them yesterday.  Jack had a high old time chasing the rabbits up and down their run.  I am sure he thinks they are puppies!

The evening turned very cold and we had to put the heating on low and then it started raining and continued most of the night and again this morning.  The sun came out for a while but it is now overcast again.  There will be no going into the garden today.

We have not seen the family this weekend because Dean is busy laying a patio.  The garden was in quite a mess after the builders had finished the extension to their house and Dean has worked his socks off putting up new fencing, getting rid of debris and now making a nice place for them to sit.  He is to be admired, he works very long hours with his job, he can be called out in the middle of the night and yet he is still managing to do all that.

So, it has been a very quiet weekend for us.  I am still not feeling as I would like to.  I will be glad when the side effects of these diabetic tablets wear off.  I live in hopes that they will and it will not prove that I am unable to take them. My neck is still giving me some trouble as well.

Becky and Dean bought the boys a bouncy castle.  It is intended for the garden and they  had hoped that if the weather was good today, they would put it up outside. They had to change their plans and erect it in the lounge and only a little while ago Becky sent me some photos and a lovely video clip where we can see and hear little Daniel gurgling and laughing with sheer joy.

I cannot share the video clip with you but I can share these photos:-

There is nothing more wonderful than seeing happy children at play.

Bank holidays throw me out of kilter and I keep thinking that it is Sunday.  It feels like a Sunday but maybe that is just me.

Anyway, I must away.  Time for lunch although quite what we will have is  undecided at present.

Wishing you all a good week.

What lovely photos of Nathan and Daniel. It's sunny here but blustery, it rained hard this morning. I hope the side effects of your tablets soon wears off and that Dean manages to get the patio done without any stops for rain. Bank holidays throw me out of kilter for the rest of the week! Sounds as though we're having pretty much the same kind of weather Jeannette! Your cup of tea in the garden sounds lovely though and let's hope it warms enough to repeat the experience.

Hi Jeannette,

It seems as though you`ve been having the same weather as here, though as I type this the sun is pouring through the window.  It`s cold outside though as I found out whilst walking Jake.  The pics of Nathan and Daniel are smashing, a look of pure happiness is on their little faces.  I hope you enjoyed your lunch whatever you had. :o)

Dear Jeannette
I have looked at every one of jour jottings that I can find and all I can say is you have a marvellous gift.  No pomposity or vain wanderings, just an every day story of human life set in an endless (Ihope) sea of calm and well chosen words. Neither, unlike one journal that I have just read, have you fallen into a recital of illnesses, symptoms or treatments. As you have proved, a casual mention now and again is sufficient to let your readers know that you are not as other, luckier people.  I know I will be a fan until God, or the devil, (more likely)calls me to that final muster parade somewhere above or below. Meanwhile I have to sort out this pesky machine Somebody has somehow got a message through that I am not accepting E-mail. S'funny I thought I was. A son in America and a grandson in Hungary can get me with no trouble. Anyway this caller seems so genuine, he has even left his own E-mail address and a message that he will try again tomorrow. My wife says it's probably all my fault. I bought this machine in the last week in October and seeking only the best I paid far too much. Now I am stuck with something that another son says is far too powerful for me. Do you know, I am still finding reams and reams of instructions on how to do this or how to do that. Thank you for introducing those half dozen friends who sent me messages and comments, the only thing is I seem to have lost them some where. would you mind apologising for me and asking them to try again Thank you very much friend.  Jim Halliday

Bank Holidays here seem to mix up our days. Still w popped over to see Robert, Nicky & Holly for a couple of hours today. As holly opened the front dorr, she just stood there shouting "nanny, nanny, nanny, that little girl was beside herself with joy and gave me a big, big cudle. It was so lovely to be cudled by a little girl who loves me so much. It's the little things in life that bring me much needed happiness.
Take care my friend.
Hugs Sylvia xx
