Showery Saturday

Graphic thanks to My World Sparkles

The weathermen certainly got it right. Our little heatwave is over and today is much cooler and we have just had a heavy downpour of rain.  I think it will remain showery which is a shame for all those who have been working for the last two days and unable to enjoy the sun.  On the other hand, we do have a drought and need any rain that we can get so we must try not to do the usual British thing and complain about the weather.

I mentioned on my entry yesterday that we did get a couple of pictures when Becky came to pick up Daniel.  Neither of the boys wanted to smile.  Nathan was very tired and Daniel had just woken up from a long nap in the garden.  However, we rarely get photos of Becky and her two sons together.  We are usually looking after one whilst the other goes swimming or they are asleep or a myriad of other reasons. So, I was happy that we were able to take these:-

Can you spot Jack's head?  Just like our beloved Pip he likes to try and get in every photo!

The weather has put paid to any idea of sitting out in the garden today.  My back is a little better so I shall have to try and do little jobs around the house.

I am hoping to watch a DVD  over the weekend ~ "The Libertine" starring the scrumptious Johnny Depp. If not, the weekend, no hurry because you can keep the films as long as you like. On my journal last yearI wrote about my birthplace in Crickhowell, South Wales and about Tretower Court.  Well, they used this location for the film. I do not know whether I will recognise it, there might be a fleeting glimpse or maybe the film people will have given it a make-over as they often do.  I will certainly see if I can spot it if I can take my eyes of Johnny for long enough!

I would like to wind up today by thanking two people for their acts of kindness.  Firstly, Debbie who phoned me out of the blue on Thursday afternoon. We had never spoken before and she gave me such support and lifted my spirits.  Debbie can be found at The Life & Times of an Essex GirlSecondly, Sandra who sent me a little parcel which arrived in the post this morning saying "just a little something to cheer you up".  Sandra can be found at Sandra`s ScribblesBig thanks to both of you ~ you have made an old woman very happy lol!

Well, dear readers, that is it from me today. I am off to do a few things and then stretch out on the bed for a while to make sure my back improves even more.

Happy weekend everybody.

P.S. Please can I request that anyone who does have a journal and leaves a comment, also leaves their link.  I have many journals on alert and I cannot put each journal name with each persons name, just too much to remember.  If you leave a link, I can get back to you especially as we cannot always rely on alerts.  Thank you.

Great pictures of Becky and the boys even though they are tired and sleepy. It's been raining a lot here this week and we have a very foggy morning. It is supposed to clear off and be pretty today with rain again tonight and tomorrow.  Hope your back soon gets a lot better where you can do things you want to do. I haven't bothered with all my flowers like usual this spring because with this back I just don't feel up to it. Hope you and Mike have a good weekend. Helen

Hi Jeannette,

Lovely photos of Becky and the boys, it`s rare we don`t see pics of them not smiling.  Never mind, like Jan said, they can`t smile all the time, Roman is testimony to that at the moment!  I always thought Becky was like Mike but in these photos I can really see a strong resemblance to you.  What a shame about the weather eh?  But we DO need more rain. :o(

Becky and the children are lovely, you must be so proud! :)  Glad to hear your back is doing somewhat better but please do not overdo it.  Don't over do it, wouldn't want you to hurt it any more.  Hope your weekend gives time to catch that dvd. :)

Good morning....Glad your back is better.  Your grandsons are adorable and your daughter is so pretty.  I hope you rest so that you heal completely very quickly.  I don't know how to leave a link or I would.  But, you already visited my journal this morning and left a sweet message for me.  You're a doll!
You always say such lovely, positive things and make me feel so happy!  I hope I can give back a bit of what you give me.

I am glad your back is getting better.    The weather change this morning keep me laying in bed rather than getting up to face my arthritis.    My white cell blood count was below 13 about 3 weeks ago and I had another blood test done on Thursday to see if it had changed.    I am not feeling good like I have an ongoing system depletion.    I smoke cigarettes to cope with pain and that could be contributing to my health status.    I was told that normal immune system is between 13 and 17 and I was in the 13's months ago.   I layed on my board to read this afternoon and read and then fell asleep for an hour.     Now that it is 4:30 I have gotten up and checked the mail and brought Salty in from his pen.    Yesterday I got some painting done outside and will be able to start installing the soffits soon.    That will keep out the birds and wasps from my new addition and I will finally be able to remove the factory window from my cabin and open up the addition.    The photo's of Becky with Nathan and Daniel are truly happy one's of a mother with her children.    I just thought I would let you know what was going on with me.     mark

Here is the infernal pest again, Jeanette, the one who keeps getting his E-mails and comments in the wrong place. patience with me dear. AOL are taking me in hand and soon I will be sprinting around like all you experts. Did all of you discover our adventures with the ground crews of two squadrons of bombers. and the new found fluency of our Colonel in getting rid of them?? My word, he did us proud. "Once more into the breach dear friends, once more, or fill the wall with our English dead"  or word to that effect. Those of you who have managed to find that small episode would be proud too. On that heroic note I will leave you.  Jim.
