Murky Monday

Another great graphic from Donna!

When I threw back the curtains this morning to be greeted by murky skies and torrential  rain, I was momentarily tempted to let my heart sink after the fine weather of last week.  Then I remembered the drought and just how badly needed this type of weather is.  We take water for granted, we moan about it when it falls from the skies, yet it is the bringer of life, mankind and all of the animal and plant kingdom simply could not exist without it.

Then a very old song came into my head.  One I used to hear on the radio quite a lot in the late 1950's - "The Day That The Rains Came Down".    I had not thought of it in years and was quite surprised to find myself singing what words I could recall and remembered that rain is a blessing as well, much as we enjoy and depend on the sun, we also depend on the rain.  So, any thoughts of a miserable mood lifted as I thought of the earth having a much needed drink.

The day that the rains came down
Mother Earth smiled again
Now the lilacs could bloom
Now the fields could grow greener

A robin sang a song of love
A willow tree reached up to the heavens
As if to thank the sky above
For all that rain, that welcome rain

The day that the rains came down
Mountain streams swelled with pride
Gone the dry river bed
Gone the dust from the valley

I think those words really sum it up.   We know that the sun will come out eventually so let us accept the rain for the blessing it is and that way we will appreciate the sun even more when it does shine.

Mike was out in the garden again yesterday with his camera and took these beautiful shots.  Firstly, some red flowers on our Azalea:-

Next a close up of our Bleeding Heart (Dicentra Spectabilis)

Finally a close-up of a leaf on our Maple tree. This tree is beautiful all year round but I love it best when it is adorned with the first fresh new leaves.  With the dark skies that we are getting at the moment it positively glows a wonderful lime green and stands out as the brightest thing in the garden:-

Well, I certainly will not be doing any washing today but there are plenty of other things I can be getting on with.  Mike, Jesse and Jack are going to have a very wet walk later on and I might even have to put them in the bath - Jesse and Jack that is!

So, I will wind up for today.  Oh, I would just like to mention  that when I did my critique on "The Libertine" yesterday, quite a few you commented that you wished to see it.  Please remember that this was my own opinion of the film, no two of us are the same.  It does take a little getting into with a bit of a slow start, I mean a film does not usually begin with a prologue.  However, this was taken from a stage play and I suppose in some ways it is like watching one.  So, if you do decide to view it and are disappointed in any way, please do not blame me lol!  Each to his own.

Try to remember the positive side of the rain and have a wonderful week, dear readers.

P.S.  For some reason the fonts decided to go crazy on this entry and despite all my efforts I have been unable to change them and I do not want to delete and start all over again.

I would like to thank Toni for the beautiful signature.

Hello Jeannette,

Beautiful graphics - as usual. <grin>  Where would we be without your inspirational journal....
Don't want to make you jealous but it has been sunshining here all morning, my wife has done all the washing and it is blowing merrily on the clothes line. We have been for a three-mile walk out towards the cliffs here, the sea has a mist over it this morning. The fields are full of ewes with their spring lambs, a delight to see. The walk took fifty minutes (very hilly), now having our eleven o'clocks.
Loved the photos of the colourful flowers in your garden - must get my camera out.                                   Keith.

Hi Jeannette ~ we are sharing the rain today, it's pouring ! But you are right ~ Mother Nature is working her magic :-) Mike is really very good at taking photo's ~ these are beautiful. We have an azalea ~ no flowers on it as yet, but I hope it turns out like yours! The Bleeding Heart reminds me of a garland ~ lovely! And the maple too. Don't envy Mike the wet walk ~ have fun with bathtime lol. Have a great day, speak soon.
lots of love Debbie ~xxx~

Sounds like a wonderful day there to me!  It is 4:30am here....waiting to see if I'm working today, so I'm not sure what kind of weather we are in store for.  All I know so far is it's not that cold out.  YAY!
Enjoy your day. Pamela

Hi Jeannette,

What a colourful entry, much needed on a wet day like today.  You`ve done a great job with the photos and graphics. Is that song the one by Kay Starr?  I do remember as a child singing along to it.  I see your flowers are ahead of mine, the buds on my Bleeding Heart haven`t opened up yet but hopefully this rain will speed things up a bit.  Like I said yesterday, I`ll watch The Libertine anyway, though it is nice to hear your opinion, I won`t blame you if I`m disappointed, which I don`t think I will be. :o)))

Rain is a vital source of life.    I hope you are up and doing better Jeannette.    I am just taking an hour to be on the computer and then I have to work on my home.     The weather change effects me greatly and today I will take advantage of lessening pain.    The flower's are magnificent!    The bleeding hearts look like works of art.    Nature is the greatest artist that we can only hope to immitate.    I hope you have a productive and energetic week.      mark

Good morning!  I absolutely Love the beautiful butterfly graphic today.  Stunning!  And your signature graphic is great, too.  My journal is so plain and simple I'll have to do some digging and find some pretty things to liven it up a bit.  LOL  I like your attitude about the rain.  Good to have a good one because you can't do anything about the weather.    Have a great Monday!                      Kathy

Hi, I am really impressed by your photography, the pics are great. What an awful day though, the more rain we get, the faster the grass grows and the fatter the horses grow.
Great entry as always.

The 'Hearts' are formed perfectly! And the green leaf has a beauitful color; I was enjoying all the different color trees, plants, and flowers along on my walk with
my dog Nikki; I literally saw Winter disappear and Spring come forth-bring on the
rains! Mother Earth needs a drink! Someday I'm going to post a poem by Jim
Morrison, where he talks about 'Mother Earth'; I can't wait to see J.Depp in The
Libertine-I heard it's dark & gloomy in spots+ different; I like dark & gloomy! lol
I like anything that takes my mind off of my troubles, and entertains me; I say,
Bring it on! OMG! I just realized you have over 30 wonderful comments! You have
become very popular, Jeanette-you see what 'word of mouth' can do? We all love
you! ~Diane~

Lovely, lovely pics of your flowers Jeannette, and the graphics too.  I'm sure there was also a 'send up' of that song too, might have been by Barry Mason, who was more of a song writer - going on the internet now to find out more!
Sorry this is late, but just catching up on a whole week's emails!
