Under my yesterday's entry about my paranormal experience somebody commented about my not being afraid.
This gave me an idea. Most people are frightened of something and lets face it, there are many things to be scared of. The list of phobias alone would fill a page.
So I have just taken some random questions and now it is up to you.
Be totally honest, read down the list and ask yourself which would be the worst for you, what scares you the most out of the things mentioned. When you have decided, and you can choose more than one, press the VOTE button.
If your fear is not listed here, then please leave it in a comment or just leave a comment anyway. They are always very welcome. Thank you.
I will publish the final results in a couple of days.
If you would care to, please put a link to this page in your journal to let your friends know about this poll so that they can join in as well. The more votes the better!

I could pick a few of those... but what scares me most is something happening to my son

You didn't list my biggest fear so I picked my second. :D

My main scare or maybe that should be worry, which perhaps is a different thing, is losing any member of my family. My son is a lorry driver, and I get scared when I hear about accidents on the road.
I didn't tick 'afraid of the dark' because it doesn't scare me in the normal sense, but I do hate hearing strange noises at night and need to verify what they are.
I don't think I have ever been so scared of the dark until we had those earth tremours. Feeling my bed moving backwards and forwards in the dead of night even made me start believing in the paranormal! I have never been so relieved in all my life when I discovered it had been an earthquake. :-D
I posted mine.
thx cindi
Fear is something that we all have of one kind or another. It'll be interesting to see how the poll goes. 'On Ya' - ma
Hi...I added mine...from across the pond....seems I am about like most folks LOL...hugs...Ora of KY
spiders spiders spiders yuk! beckie x
Fear of losing someone I love and also fear of getting ill and being dependent on someone. Used to be spiders but things change as you get older, don't they.
Julie
I voted on illness. That could be my loved ones being ill or me. Also bad weather scares me, especially tornadoes after having lived through one. Helen
Have a good wkend. :)

Jeannette, I ticked more than one! My husband says it would be easier to tick the things I DO like! Apart from family deaths etc my main ones are spiders, heights, balloons, fireworks, thunderstorms and ladders! My eldest daughter's greatest fear is clowns (also people dressed up in animal costumes!), the second daughter's fear is identical twins (!) and the third daughter's is...wait for it, wooden spoons and lolly sticks! I've certainly given birth to some strange girls! ~~ Pat
((((((((((((HUGSTOYOU))))))))))))))))))I was susprised the dentist got a little vote.LOL.I picked Illness, confined spaces, beig left alone,I dont like scary movies, loss of a loved one,the dentist and death.I guess thats alot of thing I am afarid of.Most of all right now,I dont think I have a job, whih means I have no Health Insurance.I guess it could be alot worse.Have a nie weeknd.
I'm not SCARED of any of those things. A number of them are on my list of things to avoid. However, I think the thing that frightens me most is having no control over a situation. If I can just believe that there is some one thing I can do that will make a difference, I can handle it.
Dreams of running away from things that just keep coming and not being able to find a safe (hiding) place scare me.

several on there jeanette loss of a loved one the most. obv.reasons. good entry be interesting to see results. take care n ty mort xxxx
Hi Jeannette, I am scared of a few of those listed on your poll......I opted for "illness" because I thought that encompassed others (loss of a loved one, death, left alone).........fear of illness seems to cover all of the above and when it strikes the fear spreads its tentacles and wraps around your heart. Eileen
For me, it's spiders and dentists!
Missie
Would you believe I'm afraid of most of the
ones you listed, except dentist. I guess it
is because my soon to be DIL is my dentist.
I guess I think she knows not to hurt her
future ma-in-law. LOL. Bless YOu, Pat
hi
It's good to meet you. I have seen your name before.
I love your journal
Marti
Humm guess I'm more of a scaredy cat then I thought. Paula
I guess it would be snakes and I really dislike horror movies as I've gotten older. They make my heart race & I don't need that. Linda in WA
I voted for loss of a loved one.

I would like to comment on some of the comments.
The fear of wooden spoons and wooden sticks! Mine isn't exactly a fear, but they give me that 'chalk down a blackboard' feeling. I can't bear to put either of these things in my mouth and seeing someone else do it - eating ice cream with a wooden spatula, or a cook tasting food with a wooden spoon - ugh! sends these these horrible shivers down my spine.
I was also thinking after I'd visited the poll that dreams hold some fear for me. There are times when I'm afraid to go to sleep because I've been having a run of nightmares. I always wake up with such a start at the crucial point that it gives me a headache. Had a really odd dream last night, but quite nice in parts - methinks another journo entry coming on!

My fear is definitely heights ~ having fallen over a cliff when very young I can't bear to go near the edge of any high structure ~ this is one fear I would love to conquer ~ Ally x
I voted. It was a hard choice!

What scares me the most on that list is snakes. And that's what I voted for. There are other things that could scare me....depending on the degree and the circumstance. For example, I couldn't be skyscraper high on a steel girder, but I can look out a window in a tall building or climb a fire tower no problem. The one thing that really scares me that is not on the list is being cut. Deeply cut. Especially any thought to my wrists being cut. Why I don't know. - Barbara
came over here for the poll via Val from There's a Season;
heights, closed places, and loss of a loved one were what I picked
this was an interesting poll to take; now I have to go back and read your entry before this about your paranormal experience

One of my biggests is clowns. Can't stand them.
