Thus far, June is living up to its reputation for being anything but. The weather still remains overcast with hints that rain might be on the way. When the heat does arrive, we are going to be totally unprepared.
Mike has been very busy. He is building several strong grids to place over the pond to prevent Nathan from falling in. He always make a beeline for the water whenever he is here and you cannot be too careful. We have also bought him a swing which Mike has assembled. Our garden is even brighter now as the colours of the swing are very vibrant. If the rain stays away our little chap will be trying it out for the first time over the weekend. We also bought him another little surprise but I am not going to say what on here as Becky does read my journal when she has the time. Naturally I will post photographs when we get them.
Our garden is usually teeming with birds as we have four bird tables and numerous feeders. However, our feathered friends seem to know when we have the camera out and do not co-operate. We did manage to get these shots of one of the Greenfinches:-
We have several pairs of Greenfinches that visit. Also Bluetits, Robins and several pairs of Collared Doves. We have a Blackbird's nest at the bottom of the garden and that mother bird works so hard providing food, she is always on the go.
Whilst I have been writing, a little glimmer has appeared in the sky. Dare I hope it is the sun? Perhaps it will stay for a little while although there are thick masses of heavy cloud in the distance. So it is either going to be like this
Or this
On the other hand it could stay like this
I will leave you with a smile for the weekend, the latest picture of Nathan:-
What you see behind him is the remains of their garage, just a wall. The garage has had to be demolished to make way for the building work which commences on Monday.
There is nothing like a smile to brighten the day is there?

What a smile. I love the picture. The weather here has been lots of rain the last couple of days too. It is so beautiful to watch. As long as I don't have to leave the house I don't really mind. *Louise*
The green finches are gorgeous. I love finches. -Krissy

Our weather has been strange to say the least. It's cold and rainy. The few warm days we've had lately were also warmer than normal. We seem to be doing this drastic up and down with nothing steady in between. Your garden looks like a paradise! Can't wait to see the surprise for Nathan. Yes, that is a wonderful smile for the weekend! Enjoy~
I'm sure you'll be getting plenty of those smiles - not that you don't already! - when Nathan gets a look at his new swing!! Lovely pics Jeannette :o)

What an adorable little guy Nathan is. Hon, I love visiting your journal. Your pics are always so interesting. I love these of the birds. I don't have any now but had many at one time. They are so fragile and so beautiful. Big hugs to you, dear one.

Lovely photo of the greenfinch. I wonder if you get any woodpeckers, the great-spotted loves garden feeders and is a wonderfully dashing sight. The swing sounds an excellent idea, that'll give Nathan hours of fun - as well as the person he enlists to push him of course! Lol.

He's a little cutie, give him an extra big cuddle from me. Love the bord p[ics, spend hours watching the birds in my garden, especially during the long dreary winter months. The nearest we have to summer here today is a gigantic thunderstorm this afternoon. Tkae care.

He is so cute! Your garden is so nice...JAE
What a precious picture. That one will have your heart for many years to come. I love the bird feeders in my backyard. Watching the birds land and feed is one of my favorite things to do in the summer. We have a very bossy mocking Bird that visits and a beautiful macaw that someone has let free. One afternoon I looked out the window and all the Black Birds were flying high and screaming their lungs out. When I went outside to investigate I found that a beautiful brown owl had decided to visit one of our trees. He just quietly sat there and watched while all the other birds were having nervous breakdowns. I love watching the bird activity. Pennie
What a lovely photo of Nathan,I love his cheeky smile.I am so glad you are getting a grid in the pond as you can never be too careful with toddlers and ponds.Looking forward to the surprise. .what can it be I wonder?
It looks like rain here, but not yet ! I love the pictures too !!! That smile could brighten any dreary day !! Have a great weekend ! 'On Ya' - ma

Hello again ! Thanks for your lovely comments. I read your latest entries and I love the pictures of the Greenfinches. You will be happy to know that the rain here in the South is finally past. We are getting some of the old warm weather back thank goodness for that. The weekend we are supposed to get really great weather for a change. Well enough about the weather which has gotten enough publicity of its own. The picture os Nathan is great I love his smile he is a cute little boy. He will be grown in no time and he will be much bigger than he is now. Time flies when it comes to the little ones. A smile always brightens any day. For now take care and again thanks.
More like Flaming awful June I say! I just wish the weather would make up it`s mind one way or another. Great pics Jeannette, you are right, the birds seem to know when I`m about with my camera too, though you did get some smashing ones there. I think your garden sounds like a bird paradise. Your little man Nathan though, just adores the camera! Have a lovely weekend..:-)
