Another Monday, where do the weeks go? It seems like only yesterday when it was summer, the garden was ablaze with masses of bright blooms and our doors and windows were open wide. Now here were are with Christmas only a few weeks away.
So, how did I spend my weekend? Well after doing the usual household chores, most of Saturday was spent double-checking my nominations for the awards, sorting my mail and spam boxes and blocking spammers that have been targetting J-Land over the last few days.
Yesterday the family visited so naturally we had a happy day and I was able to take some pictures of our two wonderful little grandsons. I was behind the camera so no pictures of me but, as you see my countenance every time you visit my journal, that is no problem.
Firstly here is a picture of baby Daniel when he first arrived, all tucked up and snug beneath his personalized blanket:-
The next two are of him after he woke:-
He is going through that "spotty" stage at the moment. Nathan was just the same. I am not quite sure why that happens but it does not last long, at least it did not with Nathan. He is now very alert, taking everything in and he is absolutely fascinated with a crochet blanket I made in bright zigzag stripes so he spent nearly all the time staring at that.
Here is the latest picture of Nathan:-
At the moment, there is little similarity between the two brothers although Daniel is not yet six weeks old, so that could change. Nathan now delights in holding long conversations, especially with me. Of course, it is unintelligible except to him, but he becomes very serious and earnest, pressing his face close to mine and chatting for several minutes, usually ending with a beaming smile. He shared a cup of tea with me yesterday, I only gave him very little but afterwards he smacked his lips and gave a loud contented sigh as if to say "ah, lovely cup of tea."
My beloved has endless patience with him and it is so nice to see. When our daughter was a baby and a toddler he worked away for days at a time and missed out on so very much, so it is wonderful that he can have this now, with his Grandson. He spent ages with Nathan in the garden - they played ball, looked at the rabbits and the fish and then Nathan wanted to climb onto the garden bench but, of course, his little legs would not reach so Mike lifted him up. I was watching it all through the lounge window. There they sat in the afternoon sunlight, two males, generations apart, the little boy with his doting Grandad. They were lost in their own private world. I kept glancing out and saw Mike's arm go around Nathan as he leant in close and Nathan snuggled against him. It brought joy to my heart and a lump to my throat. I so wanted to take a picture but I knew the moment would be lost if I ventured outside and disturbed that intimate interlude. This was the sort of scene you could only take with the camera of your mind to store the resultant image in the file of your memory.
I did take this shot when they were back indoors:-
Lastly the two "men" took a stroll down the road together.
A perfect end to a perfect afternoon. Now Nathan has really found his feet, there is no stopping him, he loves to be outside, he loves to be active and on the go all of the time. He looks so grown up now it is hard to believe he is only sixteen months old himself.
I do not need to tell you, dear readers, the joy that these two little people have brought into our lives and how very much we love them.
Wishing you all a wonderful week.

Jeannette ,thank you for sharing those beautiful photos of your grandsons and their Grandad. Like Mike my husband was also a lorry driver and missed out on our children growing up, so now its great that we can spend so much .time with our four Grand chilren, like we say it's Quality time that can't be replaced.
Beautiful pictures of the boys and Grandad. Nathan certainly looks very grown up! The spots are what we called milk spots, I don't know if it really is the milk that causes them but they go quickly. Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with the family. Have a good week, I'll be back next friday. Jeannettexx.

Aww Jeannette they're lovely, the first and last especially. You had a weekend brimming over with joy and many more of those to come. They're so sweet both of them.........and the tall ones cute as well, I can see he's a proud grandad. Rache xx
You sound as if your are at peace woth the world today you seemed to have such a good weekend. Your are very lucky to have such a close family. Joan.
They make darling little boys! How sweet that you can watch the grampa/grandson relationship evolve! Love the pictures! JAE
Tyler went through that "spotty" phase too. The doctor said it was because babies get a huge jolt of female hormones from mummy during labor/delivery. Enough to cause a sort of "teenaged" skin reaction. The spots go away once the hormones have made their way out of the body. Lovely photos my Duchess of the Blog. ;-)
very sweet and grand dad is sooo dashingly handsome too! wtg! Jeanette!!!

Wonderful photos Jeanette, I love that stage where you can tell by their expressions and tones what they are saying but not in so many words. They are both just so gorgeous
I can imagine Jeannette, oh how I am looking forward to our little addition!!! My only worry is that they may have got it wrong and all those blue clothes will be worn by a little pink girl!!!!!
Oh Jeannette, Nathan has become quite a "young man" now. He`s an absolute sweetie! He looks big for his age too. Daniel is growing fate too and looks almost as big as Roman but then that is to be expected as he had the higher birth weight. No wonder you and Mike are so proud of them. They are both adorable and you know how I am about grandchildren at the moment! The momnet you talked of between Nathan and his grandad brought a lump to my throat thinking of Jim and Roman being as close as that. I think Daniel has the look of Becky, am I right? :-)
