I am getting heartily sick of aol at the moment. Have been experiencing problems with the service for some time, in fact this is the third week!
Jeff, the journals editor told me to clear out my cache which I do on a regular basis anyway. It has made no difference. Now, I cannot access File Manager at all. Yesterday I could access it during the day but not during the evening. Last week I could access sometimes but not others. When I type in keyword File Manager, it just takes me to the web. I reported it back to Jeff. He told me to try Internet Explorer to access it. That would not let me in either.
Why do aol keep denying there are problems when we all know there are. Journals very slow to load or not loading at all, people being unable to leave comments, people having their accounts frozen and having to come up with a new passwords, file manager not working. It just goes on and on.
Unless we keep complaining, nothing is going to get done. So, I ask you all again. If you are experiencing problems or do so in the near future please send an email to
journalseditor
That is the only address you need to put in your email. Give him full details of the problem. If you get sent to the web from File Manager, take a screenshot of the page and error message you get and send that to him as well. One or two complaints can get ignored. Lots of them will not be.
This all seems to have happened since journals went Beta although Jeff has said there were no problems switching.
I am taking a day away today because, as I said, I am totally fed up with it now. If you have complaints, get them in my friends.
P.S. My friend has asked me to thank you very much for all your good wishes on her becoming a Grandmother.
PPS. Just tried to send some emails. Sorry we are unable to send emails, try later.
PPPS. For those that have suggested I do not use Beta in my URL, I do not use it anyway, that is NOT the problem.

Jeannette... you are not alone and Jeff is useless. I am sorry but he never has an answer, always asks for details, and that's it, nothing changes. Sorry, but I find it a waste of time even going to his journal anymore.

Jeannette,
My File Manager works correctly. By the way, do you use "beta" to prefix your journal's URL? If so, try omitting it to resolve journals issues.
Hi Jeannette. . I have been having EXACTLY the same problems and ended up ringing technical help. . .he said it was my computer. . .*tut*. . .I know it isnt my pc.My search results page has changed. . it says beta search. . .whats that all about? My brother is switching to Sky Broadband and I will be following him I think.I spend more time on here trying to mend things than actual surfing and that stresses me out.
I don't use the beta version of my journal Jeannette and that has solved most of the problems. It is frustrating with AOL at the moment. I don't want to switch but will if the problems continue much longer,
Kate.

Hope you problems soon get sorted out. I had problems last week but they seem to be ok now. Hugs, Helen
I am having problems too with AOL and journals. I have taken your advice and mailed journalseditor. It is so frustrating!!!!!! Eileenx
I dont use file manager. Never works for me. JOE could never get it to work for me. I type in MYFTPSPACE that is all and use that to upload my pictures and music files. I heard someone else can t think who complain about it and they had griped to jeff.
It does seem that with each new improvement the more problems there are. They are very sporadic. When I hear of someone's problems with their aol...it sometimes takes 2 weeks before I too have the problem. A few weeks ago I reinstalled my aol software because I couldn't even get on aol. Between my internet provider switching over to a new system and aol it's been very frustrating some days. Good idea to take time out...why get so upset by something that we have absolutely no control over...our journals are supposed to be fun !
Hope your day is a great one ! 'On Ya ' - ma
Isn't it amazing how much heartache the technology of the modern world causes us? It seems such a short time ago that I would fuss over the lead in my pencil breaking, now I fuss over the e-mail not working. I wonder what's going to be ticking me off in twenty years. "Damn! I can't get the teleporter to Mars working again! That Bill Gates is a moron! None of his products work properly!"
Think I'll go have a beer and calm down. (Beer is my constant in life)

Hi Jeanette, touch wood, fingers crossed and salute a magpie, but since I complained to Jeff when you told me to email him before, my computer seems to have been behaving itself, hope that I havent spoken to soon here, I never did get a reply back from him, still not got my favorites back, but everythink g else seems to be working ok,
hope that things get sorted for you soon,
take care Lynne xx
Hi Jeannette. I don't have any luck with that "Jeff" guy. I tried to call AOL last week. Useless. I don't know what to do anymore when I have problems.
Pam
MORNING, I had a problem with DIAL UP, but now I'm on DSL and no problem YET,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, diane
I am able to access file manager with the URL I have saved in my 'Favorites'. I don't know if this will help you. I was having problems with AOL last week but it is working normally for me now. mark
File Manager URL: http://hometown.aol.com/_fm
Hi Jeanette,
I can also access file manager from my favorites menu, but it's not working properly. Sometimes you can download files, sometimes you can't. If you go to keyword: hometown, you can access file manager from there.
Sorry about the troubles,
Gayla
Hi Jeannette ,as you know I have been in touch with Jeff ,never yet had an answer ,Reading all your comments, everyone is dissatisfied ,its not good is it ?love Jan xx
I've not had any problems with journals but i am being sent elsewhere when trying to find stuff or getting an error message...Also having problems with my websites as the backgrounds are refusing to publish when i've gone and changed a bit or added something new in grrrr...not sure if that is the website programme i use or AOL though Caff xxxxx
If AOL won't sort it out I can see a mass exodus happening.
Grr! to AOL...I hope things will be sorted out soon, I too have had problems getting into journals or leaving comments...I hope you are keeping well Jeannette!
Astra!
Between my computer screwing up and AOL I'm almost tempted just to use an old fashioned typewriter! But I would miss all of you too much darn it. It always seems that when things are moving along perfectly well they have to play and screw it up...Sandi http://journals.aol.com/sdoscher458/LifeIsFullOfSurprises
Sometimes I think AOL should just leave well enough alone. Seems like their changes are screwing all kinds of things up. HUgs,
Lisa
I for one have been fortunate so far. No problems with AOL. So far. Hope it improves soon for everyone else. Could it be foul play of some kind? - Barbara
mines got back to normal but im afraid to speak too soon!!!

Jeannette, I quit using the file manager a few months ago because of all the issues with it. I have over 700 things filed in there. Every time I add something new, it throws it anywhere it wants to; then I have to search for it. I finally got so disgusted that I bit the bullet and went to photobucket. I'm not one for changing a bit so it was a shock for me at first. But Photobucket has some issues. Some graphics don't save as well so I once again went to File Manager the other day. I did get in but it took a great while. I uploaded and searched for the graphic. Of course, the animation was screwed up again. AOL is extremely hard on pc's so I've been told. I can understand why. Love, Chris
