A Very Big Thank You

I wanted to say a big thank you to all of you who voted for me in the Vivi Awards.  What a suprise to log on this morning and be met with messages of congratulation.  As I have been unable to access many journals, I was not aware that the award ceremony had been cancelled and the winners already announced.

To find I have won Best International journal  is wonderful and has given me such a boost, you do not know how much.  There is much about me that you do not know, much about my past life that I have chosen not to write about on my journal.  Let me just say that early on in my life I was told, apart from other things that happened to me, that I would never amount to anything.  I was scarred at a young age.  I have lived with it all my life.  When things have gone badly wrong for me, this has always come back to haunt me.

I have always felt a failure.  Yes, me.  I know many of you think of me as a happy-go-lucky person, always positive.  Good old Jeannette.  Well, I have learned to be a good actress over the years.  Deep inside I have never felt that I amounted to anything. Many times I have struggled to keep my journal going, wracking my brains to come up with ideas.  Because I am not able to go out and about like other people, because I rarely see anyone except my beloved Mike, Becky, Dean and my two wonderful Grandsons, I am restricted to what I can write about.  There are days when I am very depressed, days when I am in a lot of pain, days when I feel that life is not worth living -  my journal has kept me going on many an occasion.

Today, I feel proud.  Proud that my journal has achieved something. That my efforts to entertain, amuse and share have touched you in some way.  It means more because I have won this award through the votes of other journallers, many of you who write wonderful journals yourself.

I will admit that tears have sprung to my eyes this morning because at last I have achieved something, at long last I can feel a little proud of myself.

To Jackie and Chris and all involved in the awards I would like to say a very big thank-you.  I am sorry for them that the award ceremony could not go ahead as planned.  I would like to congratulate all  the other winners and all those who were nominated.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all so much for voting for me, for telling me by voting that you enjoy my journal and that all  the work I have put into it since July of  2004 has been worthwhile.  You have made me so very happy.  God bless you.

I for one enjoy your journal on a regular basis and other journals that have been honored as well. Do keep on.  I enjoy love coming to England via the journals, visiting a number of you.  I have so enjoyed Bowl of Cherries, too. I have always wanted to go to England, because I am a very literary person and have immersed my self for years in the many works of English authors.  This is a wonderful way to do it, via the journalists.  Thanks!  Gerry

Firstly, let me start by congratulating you on the award.  I'm not quite sure what the "ViVi" awards are about but it sounds exciting and well-deserved from everything I have seen so far.  Love the picture today, and I know someone else that will love it even more...my sis.  So, I hope you don't mind but I sent her a link to your journal.  I think you are a very courageous lady to be able to share what you did today.  Never hang your head and feel you are worthless, because I can tell you are worth it and so much more.  I look forward to your postings each day and they have helped me.  God Bless!

p.s. How do you get your pictures to sparkle? I have been sent tags by Sugar and have never been able to figure it out!  LOL

Jeannette, a huge congratulations to you!  You are so more than deserving of it.  Your journal is an absolute joy to visit and read.  I can understand some of the pain you feel as I have lived my life battling chronic depression.  I call it hell on earth.  I think it's wonderful that AOL has provided this outlet for us to enter and escape the real world.  Even though we don't know all about you or your struggles, know that you will have many, many prayers sent your way.  Love to you...Chris xx

You may be at home all the time but I find that you talk about so many things. You are involved in the w"outside"world thru your family. You have so many things to talk about and do so. Yes I agre sometimes it is a struggle to keep writing. I have to keep doing it for myself. You deserve this award. You share so much of yourself, all of it from your heart. That is why you won.

Anonymous said...

Oh my dear you do deserve this very much. You have been most kind to so many people especially the newbies who need a lift themselves, you've opened the door for many of them to other journalers.  Please never think less of yourself, the people ( no matter who they were) who demeaned you in a negative way were very wrong to do so.  You have shown myself and others such a remarkable skill in writing, especially the history stories that you do...I believe if you had been properly backed during your younger days you should of been a writer.  I truly understand your pain, having been told myself the same things, including that a little black cloud would follow me wherever I went.  Well, the world turns and the days change I feel loved, love my family, everyones healthy - thats all that matters.  Congrats on the award again...Sandi
