You might find this of interest.
It shows a significant number have had major problems and delays, especially with broadband, yet they're still in the minority. Most have either had it totally problem-free or initial delays, but it's problem-free now.
It's important to understand that when it comes to broadband, name almost any provider and someone has a bad story, especially when switching from one provider to another. Often the switch-over slowness is due to the old company; and it's mooted that it may be deliberate to discourage switching. Yet this doesn't mean TalkTalk isn't culpable, it's admitted over-demand has caused problems, and it's without doubt guilty of mismanaging the situation.
Overall my summary is that if you want a guaranteed hassle-free speedy broadband connection, don't use TalkTalk. Yet as it's hugely price competitive, if cost is your priority and you can cope with the risk of some delay - go for it.
It is currently taking five weeks to get switched over (from my own research). The above extract was taken from the site:
Home Phones: The UKs Cheapest Calls Provider | MoneySavingExpert.com
Guido has mentioned inhis comment to my previous entry that TalkTalk featured on Watchdog recently. They have a poor customer service record.
I am only posting this to try and keep you all informed. It is not for me to sway you one way or the other. I shall make my own decision next year depending on what happens. However, this is a decision that is going to be facing all UK journallers, in fact all current UK aol members in the New Year whether we like it or not. As for the International3, I do not make phone calls abroad so it will not benefit me in any way. I just want a decently run service with as few problems as possible and be able to keep up my journal and comment on my friends' journals. I am not trying to score points off AOL although I am greatly dissatisfied with the service we are getting at present, nor I am saying that TalkTalk is necessarily worse than any other provider. I am just supplying the information so that you are all forewarned when the time comes.
P.S. I am not getting any alerts right now, well I have only had a couple. So, I am sorry if I do not know if you have posted.

All i can say about carphone warehouse free for life broadband is that a friend of mine went to change over to them last april...She encountered no end of hassles with them and i think she has given up as she's still with AOL...With anything you need to read the small print...For anyone who does a lot of downloading then a service like AOL which doesn't cap the amount of downloads you can do a month and has true unlimited access is probably the best option...If you don't d/l much and aren't bothered about being booted off after 2 hours online then one of the other cheaper providers would be sufficient...As writing in my journal is only a small part of the AOL service that i use then am not sure if i will change or not...It does all depend what happens come january Caff xxxxx
man sounds like a mess
I have only ever used aol for internet access. I switched to TalkTalk for my telephone line last year after being told how much cheaper it would be for me, both by my daughter and an office colleague. As I said before, it has worked out cheaper than BT who I was with previously, but I do understand that it may not be suitable for everyone. I'm very much a creature of habit and don't like change so it was a big step for me to switch; as the old saying goes: if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I'll be watching this space with interest Jeannette, thanks for keeping us informed.

Thanx for the up-date Jeannette...I have had TalkTalk ring me before now and i have dismisse them, I am not sure what i would do in the near future concerning AOL...I will be keeping a look out for your further up-dates...Best wishes!
Astra!
I haven't gotten alerts for days, Jeannette. Broadband is hugely popular in the States and far more inexpensive than when first introduced about 10 years ago. My is working wonderfully now that I finally got someone to actually fix the problems I was having. Love, Chris
Copy our journals?? OMGarsh.
Lisa
Hi Jeannette, thanks for your email, also got an alert for this, infact I have had quite a few alerts tonight,(surprise surprise), I know somebody who is already with Talk Talk and is having quite a few problems with it freezing and throwing her of line.
Like you I dont make any calls abroad, and I am quite happy with my quarterly bill from B.T. Why cant they leave things as they are, I have been with AOHELL for 3 yrs now and never had the problems that we are experiencing now, even when I used to be on dial up.
One of my Sisters, along with a few friends are with B.T. internet and they dont have any problems at all, and they get free phone calls into the bargin, its beginning to look very tempting for me to change to them.
Sorry to rant on your Journal,
take care Lynne xx
Hello Jeannette,
Thanks for posting this interesting article . Kerry and Slava have signed up with them but had to wait a couple of weeks for their connection. I think I`ll stay with AOL because it`s better the devil you know...lol! I had awful problems yesterday and after a while I couldn`t get into journals at all so I gave up trying. This evening after losing AOL yet again I couldn`t get back online for some time. I hope they sort themselves out soon.

Hi Jeannette. .I am not staying with aol. . seems like the decision is already made for me if we have to switch phone lines to talk talk.I dont want to do that .Chatting with my workmates today and bt seems a good option,I also like the sound of sky broadband at double the speed I have now for only ten pounds a month. . thats a massive saving for me! I have always liked aol and never had the troubles I am having now. . .something is going on with it.The service has really gone down and I havent liked the software changes recently. I have loved the journals though.
Here in Ohio, my AOL sucks......i hate AOL....i can barely read or comment in journals for days now and i do not think i am getting alerts......ugh!!
Hope you are doing well.
lisa
I don't know what talk talk is. I have had trouble with AOL being slow. I thought it was my computer but it wasn't. accessing journals is a challenge sometimes too. Are other servers much better?
Pam
Just to let you know Jeannette that this alert came into my email box at 15.12 on 29/11/06.
Will be interesting to see if this comment appears tho', as been having trouble leaving comments in bloggers journals.
Freda
Have been trying to leave a comment since last evening ,as for our journals ,I am concerned ...love Jan xx
Being Im from New Jersey, I have no idea what 'talk, Talk' is! Is that what the
UK call thier fast connection box's, I wonder? I've been with AOL for as long as I've been online, and I'm not completly happy with them either-but I'm leery
to switch, cause of the fear of getting something worst! Since I bought a DSL box,
[which takes the place of slow dial up] I've been semi-happy; I wish aol would
make our journaling nicer tho! I receive my alert's and I have no problem writing
comments-so far. ~Diane~
When I very first went online I was with BT, then it was Freeserve then when i went onto Broadband I went with AOL. Why? They were offering bog standard broadband for £9.99 a month, cheaper than Freeserve's Anytime. Bog standard does me fine but now I get constant pop ups tryingh to make me take out Gold or Platinum, which I can't afford. Why can't these people just realise some people's pockets are not very deep?
