Stormy Saturday

Well thankfully, as yet we have not experienced the gales they predicted.  But it is very windy and also raining, getting dark enough to put the lights on in the middle of the day.

I have always thought how much Daniel looks like his mother Becky, so I decided to put these photos on for you to judge. Becky was fourteen and a half months old when the photo was taken. Daniel was two weeks younger. Both have the same big brown eyes.

I think it is unmistakable. There is also some of Mike there, of course, because Becky takes after him.  So the generations proceed and the genes are carried forward.

We had the boys here for most of the day yesterday with Becky.  They were lots of fun.  They play together so well, always laughing and frequently cuddling each other.  Daniel is the more wilful of the two, he like to get his own way. No matter how many times he is told "no" he will still do the same thing over and over.  I had lots of cuddles from both of them and Mike and I both laughed so much over them dancing.  We have two little ravers on our hands.

We had the surveyor down this week measuring up the size of the property for cavity wall insulation.  Dreading the day they do it - the noise will be horrendous.  It was bad enough when our next door neighbour had it done, nearly drove me insane. I hate loud noise.   We have been told to take down all ornaments because of the vibrations and that it will take half a day to get it installed. Well, I suppose it is a small price to pay if it helps in reducing the heating bills.   The problem now is that they cannot give us a day, apparently there is a waiting list. We have been given roughly four to six weeks but it could be later and might well be before.  Now, I am worried about the Christmas lights, the ones outside. We always start putting them up on the 1st December, weather permitting.  It wouldbe just our luck to get them all in place and then get a phone call to say our insulation is going to be done.  I do not want all the Christmas lights broken and simply cannot afford to replace them especially my two large rope-light silhouettes.  Fingers crossed.

We will not be able to get our bathroom done before Christmas which is a shame.  I had so looked forward to that but it will be done early in the New Year so I must not be impatient.

I still cannot get into File Manager. Can only hope the delay is due to Thanksgiving in America and that it will be sorted out next week.  Other than that, I have been busy with my sales on Amazon.  Maybe it is because Christmas is coming but I have had an order in every day this week.  I am going to run out of books soon, I never realized how many I had.  I have always been a bookworm but I was amazed at how many books I had amassed over the years.  Many of them I was never going to read again.  Now, I have made room for new ones, when I can afford them.

I am going to curl up with a book this afternoon, just the right weather for it.  I am reading "The Secret of Crickley Hall" by James Herbert and thoroughly enjoying it so far.

Now, I am off to have a nice lunch of home-made Carrot and Lentil soup with a crusty roll.

Have a good weekend my friends.

It does sound like a good day for you to curl up with your book, have your soup and crusty bread, yum.  Sounds wonderful to me.  Yes, Daniel does look like Becky...both are adorable.  I hope you have a nicer weather day on Sunday.  Hugs and love,
Joyce

Hello Jeannette,

You're right, the likeness between Becky and Daniel is amazing!  It's lovely to be able to compare photos of when they were the same age.

I'm so pleased that we did our grocery shopping yesterday - as you say, the weather is atrocious!  I don't have to venture outside the front door today, thank goodness!  I've just been speaking to my daughter on the phone, she only lives a ten minute walk away and we were both saying how dark it had become and how loud the rain was.

We had cavity wall insulation done at our old house and I don't remember it being particulary noisy, perhaps they use a different method now, ours was done quite a few years ago.  It will be lovely when your bathroom is done, something for you to look forward to in the new year!

STOP PRESS! The sun has just come out!!  What strange weather we are having!

Pat

You are right Becky and Daniel do look a lot alike at that age. Hope they wait until after the Holidays to do the insulation. It's going to be a beautiful sunshiny day here today. Wish we could share some of it with you. Hugs, Helen

Hi Jeannette, The resemblance between Becky and Daniel is incredible! Unfortunately (or fortunately for them!) I do not see any of me in my children. They have wonderful blue-grey eyes like their dad, whilst I've got very boring and plain brown eyes. I can see some of my mum in my daughter and she's got the same firy temper! We had gales and stormy rain here in York the whole night, no mobile reception and bad tv pictures. Well, it is winter, isn't it? Hope you have a nice weekend! I've just finished reading a fantastic book called "Winter in Madrid" by CJ Sansom. I recommend to anybody who is interested in WWII, Spain and love stories. Very well written and engaging.
Have a nice weekend.
Ciao

There definetly is a striking similarity, I think in my experience it is always easier for people outside the family to spot.  They are so precious and you will have so much fun with them through the Holidays.  Sounds like your house will be decorated to the hilt at Christmas, I can't wait to see pictures.  Joni

Hi Jeannette!  The pics look like those two could have been brother and sister.  So strange how alike they look.  My son and I were like that.  He looked just like I did when he was small.  I have pictures of us both at 18 months and it is astounding the resemblance.  His whole childhood people would come to me and say "Well...you can sure tell he's YOUR son!!" LOL!
Glad you enjoyed the boys.  They are such angels, that's for sure!

Hi Jeanette,  The photo's are so lovely and they do look very alike, isn't it wonderful how the genes continue...Sorry they are going to take so long about your wall insulation hope it will get doen sooner rather than later. I am hoping to have it doen as well though the Diist Council are going to do it..may be March next year!! at least I will be even warmer next year!. Hope you have a lovey weekend.  Love sybilx

It is cold here and not very pleasant although we didn't have the gales and rain forecast for here...Shame as it is the big international market weekend...He does look very like his mum :o)...Hope you get an actual date soon for the insulation so that you know when you can put up your lights   Caff xxxxx

You are correct; there is no mistaking those eyes that the two of them share...Becky sure was a cute little one!  As are her boys!  Jae

Jeannette, it sounds like you folks are getting our wind and rain.  When I'm home on those kinds of days I just put all the lights in the house on to brighten it up. One thing about the wind this time of year...it strips the leaves off all the trees.  Other than the cedar and fir trees, all the trees with leaves are bare here in the park where I live.  I think Daniel looks so much like Becky, especially thru the eyes.  So cute !!  But I can see you in Becky's picture too.   Have a marvy Saturday.  Linda in brrrrrrr cold Washington

Oh my, they do look sooo much alike! You can certainly see the resemblance. :)
Glad you had fun with the boys! {{ }}
Hope the wall work goes quickly & nothing gets broken. Hate the bath will not be finished before Christmas, but it'll be so nice when it is done! :)
I know nothing about File Mgr, as I don't use it.
Happy your books are going so well.
Enjoyr your wkend.

Goodness, Jeannette, there is no doubt about it.  Daniel looks exactly like his mama.  I also cannot tolerate loud noises...thunder, fireworks, etc.  It's a phobia for me that I live with.  I hope all goes smoothly with the insulation.  I keep debating with myself about outside lights because of all the electrical problems I've had.  I used to be such a bookworm but have no time to read a book.  Well, I do but once I start reading, I can't put down a good book so I've strayed from reading.  Everything will come together with your remodeling.  Hugs and love, Chris

Hello Jeannette.........We have gotten some nice weather over the weekend here in my neck of the woods. Daniel I must say is a cute little guy I sure would like to meet him. Tell his parents I said hello for me. Tell his mother that Daniel sure looked like him in the photo.

By the way my dad put our Christmas lights outside and they look great. On the porch he put some green Christmas lights which my youngest niece simply enjoyed. I have been getting into the Christmas spirit more and more lately. I love going shopping and watching romantic holiday movies on the Hallmark channel here in Georgia. I have also been listening to Christmas music and CD's by singers such as Harry Connick Jr. and Aaron Neville. Anyway......I just thought I would come by and say hello. I would like to wish you and your family the best of the season. Take care my dear friend. Byyyyyyye.

Are you having the stuff that they pump into the spaces in your walls? That should really help with keeping the heating prices down.  Just watch too the fumes, I think you are sensitive like I am. Sandi

I too have many many books and shoud do as you are - I just haven't had the time, but someday I will.  It's been sunny and warm here for about 4 days now.
Hope you get the insulation out of the way soon and then have time for decorating without any bother.  'On Ya' - ma

Hi Jeanette,
I'm sorry about file manager. I also can't access it except through Easy Designer. But even then, it's not working right. That's why I'm so happy I have Photobucket so when this kind of thing happens, I've got a backup.
The two of them look so much alike! Same cute little faces and beautiful brown eyes.

I always thought that Daniel was like his Mum. . the photos of them both show just how much!! Both have lovely little faces. . aww, they are truly lovely. The cavity wall men should not be too long and nothing inside needs to be moved. . its just the noise .Your house will be so much warmer and in the summer the house will be cooler .

There certainly is a very strong resembalance, Daniel doesn't look a baby anymore, but he is a very handsome little boy.  That carrot and lentil soup sounds good, if you have time it would be great if you could let us have the recipe.  Mags x

I swear as I read about your soup, from somwhere there came the smell of onion soup. Funny thing is although I love the smell, I don't like onion soup.  Beat that for a set of contradictions. Loved the rest though.     JIM.   xxx

Hmm, the book you curled up with sounds very English.  I am trying to read a recipe novel.  (recipes throughout)  I am very fond of them.  Nora Ephron wrote the first one I read, and she is a very witty lady.  The one I am reading is called She Flew the Coop.  It says it is a novel concerning life, death, sex, and recipes in Limoges, Louisiana by Michael Lee West.  Gerry

Hello Jeannette,

I`m sorry I`m so late reading this entry.  Becky and Daniel are really alike, in the photos they could be mistaken for twins.  I`m sure once it`s done you`ll really notice the difference with cavity wall insulation, your heating bills should come right down.  Well done for selling all your books, maybe I should do the same as i have fat too many of them. :o)

I wish I had the money to re do my bathroom! it needs it so bad...maybe some day; too bad yours won't be completed untill after the New Year, but it's worth the wait! Maybe we can see the finished result? I too have aquired tons of books-hard and soft covers! I had to get rid of many soft covers lately-I had no room for
them! Had to make room for more! I'm reading a pretty good one, called, 'The
Shipping News,' by Annie Proulx, about a small town paper in Newfoundland! It's intresting to read how other live in the world, it also won a Pulitzer Prize, and two O Henry awards, amost others. Love your graphics Jeannette! ~Diane~ http://journals.aol.com/dizarra/StorysFromtheCityTalesFromtheSea
