Isn't this a pretty graphic? No, it is not me. Were I to stand on that balcony it would probably collapse under the strain! Our garden is not that romantic and dreamy either. We have never followed the advice of professional gardeners such as Gertrude Jekyll and colour co-ordinated our plants. Mike and I both love vibrant colours and we really do not care if they clash or not. We have quite a few trees and shrubs in the garden so there is much green and bright colours look wonderful against them.
Here are a couple of pictures I took yesterday evening.
A little hazy because I was taking it against the sun. You can see a real mixture of Geraniums, Busy Lizzies, Roses, Mesembryanthimums (wish I had thought to remove the dead leaf).
Here is how an impressionist painter would see it:-
It was so pleasant sitting out there yesterday evening watching the clouds tinged with pink and gold, the fading of the sun. I sat by the pond listening to the sound of the waterfall and fountain, watching the fish glide silently through the clear water and catching glimpses of butterflies (the first I have seen this year). The air was filled with the scent of Roses, Lavendar and Heliotrope and the birds were lifting their voices to the heavens. I sat for a long time. Then it was time for watering and once again I revelled in the smell of damp earth and the freshness . After that was done, I sat by the pond again. The spraying must have seemed like a shower to the frogs because they all emerged from under rocks and stones to sit by the pool edge to feel the droplets fall on them from the overhanging plants.
The time I spent in the garden last evening really fed my soul and filled my heart once more with the wonder of nature.
I feel privileged to have a garden. It is hard work sometimes, our choice of plants would not be to everyone's liking, but it is our little bit of heaven, our own paradise. Out there we can forget we live in a built up area, we can forget the troubles of the world. We can be at one with nature.
Thankfully, it is cooler today. Still bright and sunny but with far less humidity and we should be able to spend more time outside.
I hope you all find your own little bit of heaven this weekend.
P.S. Stuart is not the only one who can come up with "groan" jokes. How about this
Why was six afraid of seven?
Because seven eight nine.

Your garden sounds very similar to mine, Jeannette, very random and it appears I have same plants as you! We are in the process of re-doing the back garden and at present just deciding where the pond is going to be - our fish tank in the lounge is very soothing with the sound of the water going through the filter - set deliberately to give the sound of babbling water.
Very pretty flowers and the way you described sitting by the pond I could almost feel myself joining you to enjoy all that. Have a good day. It's still a bit dark here and I cn hear the crickets chirriping and an occasional bird singing. Whoops! I hear my neighbor cranking up his loud mothercycle headed of to work I guess. Helen
Lovely photos of the garden. Roses in bloom????????????? Shee what a different world!
Hasn't been warm enough to be in the garden since Tuesday.

Jeannette- I have one painting to finish, actually two of the same, one larger and longer- 24inch by 36inch. I would like to talk to you about doing a canvas of your first photo. What you call a little hazy, to me looks like an impressionist painting! If I would be so lucky as to have you give me permission, then I would be able to give you the credit for the original photograph, and use the painting of it to enter in the Mitchell Museum Art competition and show that happens every two years. I have to send in perfect slides to be judged and excepted of my artwork.
Your writing is very soothing to my mind this morning.
Your's truly, -mark-
Great graphics, and love the photo's. Your garden is a beautiful sanctuary. My favorite time of day is early morning, love to sit outside and listen to the birds and watch the sunrise. Hope you enjoy your day as well. ttfn :) ~Deborah

Glad to hear it has cooled down there. We're still having a heat wave here, so I got up ridiculously early to exercise this morning before it got too unbearable.
very pretty graphic I do love your garden though I am you had a nice time out back by the pond. I can't wait untill we can get our pound up and flowers planted. did you catch the frogs somewhere or buy them and they stay in your yard and do not get away? how is your winter there does it snow and how do you take care of the fish pond and frogs if it does? It will snow here I know but I am trying to learn all the tricks to keeping things alive and well in a garden have a good weekend God bless kelley
Lovely photos! Here's a groaner ... How did the farmer transport his cattle?
In a Moooooooving van! Hahaha!
~~Kath~~
I like color too! Anywhere it wants to be.
And a great big groan it is too....lol! You are so right Jeannette, I don`t know what I`d do without my garden, I`ve love to potter about pulling weeds and checking if there are buds on the plants...and generally watching it mature as a whole. I love the photos especially the `impressionist` one. How did you do that?! Have a lovely weekend. :-)

Every time I see such lush, lovely gardens I regret living in dry, dusty West Texas
I appreciated the pictures - - and I liked the joke!! Jon
You have such a beautiful garden!!!!
It's 106 degrees F here now and 109 tomorrow. But don't worry as the long as the power does not go out, the air conditioner is humming along at 78F
Have a nice Sunday!

You have such a beautiful garden Jeannette, I love to see your garden pics :o)
My favourite has to be the impressionist effect, that's so clever, and looks stunning! It has been alot cooler today hasn't it, we can sleep again!

Beautiful!As usual.
Thanks for everything friend. I don't always comment because my memory is about as long as a second. But I read your journal every day. You make me smile and that is a very precious gift to me. In this insane world, there are some that can make the insanity melt away. You hold that power. God bless.
My name is Tammy. :)
Hello and good evening.... From the pictures of your garden in your journal I find it quite beautiful. I think your garden is dreamy and quite a sight to see. The colors in your garden are amazing. Any painter would be lucky to paint a picture of your garden. Painters should take a look at such a beautiful garden as yours. You write with such words that you can see all that you describe and you can hear the things you write about. Your journal is a treasure to behold. I wish I could see your journal up close and personal that would be as good as reading your journal. I do love reading your journal it has become quite a treat for me. Take care Jeannette....
Beautiful pictures, wish my garden was as nice but i won't do ours until the kids are grown up and don't need to play out anymore.

It's at this time of year that you really begin to reap the rewards of all the hard work put into your garden. And you certainly deserve an evening of fragrant tranquillity. Your pictures are evidence of a lovely garden. I wish you many more days of peaceful reflection there.
David.
pictures are all pretty. The impressionist one is good.
It's lovely to sit somewhere peaceful or beautiful, or both! We need to do it more often, as it does recharge our batteries, doesn't it? Beautiful flowers you have in your garden.
