Yesterday, Britain was hotter than the Sahara Desert, Spain, India and the Caribbean! Temperatures reached 30C (around 86F). Tomorrow is going to be even hotter with temperatures of 33C (around 91.4 F) I know a lot of our American friends get it much warmer than this, but believe me, it is very hot for the British Isles. Not the sort of weather I enjoy, even have to keep out of the garden until early evening.
Nathan was here again this morning and he just never stopped laughing, he is such a happy little boy:-
"I don't mind being in the Pen ~ You got me!"
The Boys were not so happy at being shut out though, especially Jess who looks most unhappy:
Never mind, they will forget all about it when him indoors takes them out later, when it is cooler. He has been trying to find a fairly new park that has been created around here. It has been set aside as a wildlife sanctuary and apparently there are Herons there. The only trouble is that the Council have not yet got around to signposting it! Makes things a bit difficult when you do not know exactly where it is but Mike thinks he discovered where it could be yesterday so he is going exploring today.
My back remains bad. I have had regular bouts of back pain for years, sometimes it only last two or three days, others times more like two or three weeks and as it has been over a week now, I am getting a little more than fed up with it. I cannot use a hot water bottle on it this weather either. Well, hopefully it will not be too much longer.
Had some more information in for the family tree last night. Only names and dates as the family members involved absolutely refuse to tell us anything about themselves which is a shame. One of them had a long and distinguished military career and as I have been able to research all the army men for several generations with their full histories, it would have been nice to add his. I must be honest and say it rankles with me a little. Do not get me wrong, I am happy to get the information I have. But I have put twelve years into this, hundreds and hundreds of hours, and I cannot tell you how much we have spent. Hours spent puzzling how the pieces fit, writing and re-writing, telephoning, photocopying, sending letters overseas, contacting military organisations and regimental museums. Now they will get all that for nothing, handed to them on a plate and I have the strong feeling that we will never hear from them again once they have the history. Although they are close family, there was a rift long before my time and they were completely lost. It took me a lot of persistance to find them again and, on first contact, my cousin seemed delighted to find he had family he did not know about. Oh well, at least I have names and dates. I am not a person to break a promise and I did tell him at the outset that if he provided information, I would send him a copy of what I have discovered. I really cannot go back on that. But, like I say, it does rankle somewhat.
Thank you for all the wonderful comments you posted on the entry for my late brother yesterday. I meant a great deal to me as you can imagine.
Well, lunchtime has rolled around, I am going off for a sandwich and a nice cup of rosie (for our American friends that is Rosie Lee which is tea! - cockney rhyming slang)
After lunch I shall probably read as it is too hot to do much else.
Hope you all have a great day.

Lovely Nathan pic Jeannette, but your boys definately don't look happy!
Shame about your cousin not wanting to share any information with you other than names and dates, considering that you will be sending so much more than that to him. Much too hot to do anything. Thankfully we had a nice breeze for sports day, or I would have melted right there on the school field! Breeze is gone now though. Hope your back starts to feel better soon my dear.

Hello Jeannette,
Nathan is a cute as ever, love the photo. Hope Mike is able to locate the park today, on his walk with Pip and Jess. Hope you are able to stay "cool", and your back gets better soon. ~Deborah
I see Nathan has got that big smile again. The dogs don't look happy though. Just wondering if you have tried the ice packs on your back. I use them all the time and they do mine so much better than the hot packs do. The ice helps take the swelling out of where the hurt is. Just don't leave it on long enough to get a frost burn. 20 min out of each hour or two several times a day. I have had the back thing since 1969 and just the last 6 or 7 years have found out the ice packs
helps. Be sure to wrap it in a towel to help prevent the burns. (I may have mentioned them before). I did to much lifting of my flowers before the storm and I have been paying for that and I have been using the ice packs of course. Hope yours soon gets better. Helen

Nice to see such a positive update from you. I don't particularly care for the hot weather either...it has been positively steamy here in Minnesota. That Nathan is just a doll.
Jeanette. Your dogs are so cute even though they dont look happy.
Nathan looks like he is behind prison bars but the only thing he is guilty of is being so cute!!

Too hot, can't really suggest anything for your back as it mostly involves heat although a TENS machine might work. Hopefullt the new family will share a bit more as time goes on. It can be very frustrating I know.
Will be 107F here tomorrow but of course we have air conditioning... so hotter for you without a place to cool off.
Poor doggies, yes Jess does look a bit miffed... LOL
Nathan is so easy going, he is not even bothered by the gate.
Hope you are better soon!
Keep cool...
Linda
What a shame that section of your family won`t help after all that work you`ve done. If that was me I`d be delighted. Your Nathan seems to be permanently smiling, even behind the gate! Such a lovely looking little boy. I`m sorry to hear that your back is still bad, and like you say it`s far too hot for a water bottle. Pain like that can really get you down. That park sounds a really nice place to visit, the boys will love it when they can get out, same with Jake who is lying in the shade at the moment! Take care

I can understand why your feeling rankled, but you've stuck to your end of what was said and for that I think you should feel happy. Love the pic of Nathan :-)
I do hope your poor back eases a bit soon. It must be such a nuisance, never being able to relax properly. Shame about those recently discovered cousins, especially after all the years of hard research you've done. But I suppose it's inevitable you'll come across a few relatives who aren't prepared to reciprocate with any enthusiasm - when there are so many of them now!
David.

I do not know why anyone would not want to know as much as possible about their ancestors. You are doing a tremendous service for your family. I will bet Nathan is thrilled about those dogs, as they are about him. lol -mark-
Hope the back pain will go away soon. Can't help but smile every time you post Nathan's cute little face...

My family owned a shop nearby where I live now. I know a woman from church who use to go to the shop.
Hi Jeanette your journal is very good. I live on my own & I am 72 @ have osteo arthritis I find Flex 2000 is very good for pain. It takes 2 or three week to kick in. My pain has now gone as long as I keep taking the tablets. You can find it on the internet on ( www.nutrihealthint.com. ) I hope this is helpful to you as I know what it is like to be in severe pain & unable to walk. Keep up the good work.
HepworR Good night God Bless
